Is there a reason I cant turn on Cleric Stance as a Scholar when the lvl synch put me to 36?
It depends on the order of your additional skills. Put Cleric Stance on the first slot if you want to be able to use it always.
Alternatively, I feel Cleric Stance and Protect should just be freebies for scholar...
It's not such a big deal now but if we end up being able to take skills from astrologian we might have to give up something.
you will most likely get 2 new slots as well, so no need for special treatment
It actually does. Perfect Dodge, Goad and Death Blossom should be cross-classable for Disciples of War according to the Affinity line in the skill descriptions. Problem is that, well, no Job in the game can actually use Rogue skills, besides Ninjas. I suppose Squeenix didn't want to mess with the available cross-class skills for Jobs that existed before Rogue/Ninja was added. :p
Just to add a little more to this - you have access to one cross-skill slot at level 1 and get one every ten levels starting at 20.
1 Cross-Class @ level 1
2 Cross-Class @ level 20
3 Cross-Class @ level 30
4 Cross-Class @ level 40
5 Cross-Class @ level 50
If this trend continues, we'll probably gain one more cross-class ability at level 60.
As Felis has rightfully indicated, your Cleric's Stance is probably on the 4th or 5th slot, thus locking it out when synced to 36.
This is too annoying. They should level sync the skills and let us be happy. It annoys me that even AV prevents you to use Lustrate or other lv50 skills.
How, exactly, do you think level sync works? It literally reduces your level to match the level range of the content you're doing. Your level does more than dictate how much HP and MP you have, it also determines what skills you can use. It's always worked like that. Lower level, fewer skills. Not even XI let you use higher level skills when synced to a lower level. I agree that the cross-class slot system works a little weird, but it's worked like that since 1.0. High priority skills go in the first slots, low in the last. "But they are all high priority!" The you need to pick the ones you really can't live without.
On the flipside, though, this can make doing lower level content really frustrating. It does depend on the class a bit... CNJ gets a decent kit pretty early on so I don't mind it as much, but on PLD I never want to do anything that sync's to under level 40.
I mean it's a good point, to even have scaled down abilities would make level sync'd characters too powerful, but it's easy to understand why a lot of people hate it. With an ilvl sync at least you keep your normal rotation, full kit, etc etc.
