Then I'd be a SMN , no we're healers and I think bane is what that's for but if you're speaking for initial dotting I think that would do more justice for the SMNs. Remember DPS is a SCHs second utility as we are meant to be mitigation ''Healers'' while we can do quite some damage we've already gained identity as the Half/and Half I don't wanna run a dungeon and someone is spamming summon ''DPS pet yada yada'' it takes a way from our nature, I feel Selene gives as much into the dps aspect of our job as it should .....But I like the Spell that applies all DoTs but for SMNs not for SCHs
Give a pet to SMNs which allows them to buff other attacks like the melee classes can.
Wow, I thought this horse was dead and buried by now
But what other pets can the scholar get? We got a healer and support pet so the only option now is for a dps pet.
Heck someone even brought up a sacrificial fairy before that would kill itself to raise someone and this makes more sense for a Scholar to have than some random egi-wanna-be-fairy. There are plenty of options available if you think about it.
Eos mitigates magic damage and heals overtime.
I like the idea of pet sacrifice for a revive but it doesn't make sense considering half of the scholars healing comes from the pet and the fact that the pets costs alot to summon.
The only thing a sch needs in the expansion in a new spell like WHM water aura. However this spell can only target your fairy, is a giant fly swatter, and punts the fairy across the entire arena, and can only be used when said fairy is being an obstinant beep.
(I raid on sch, can you tell?)
As much as you think the sacrificial fairy makes no sense, neither does your DPS fairy.
You mentioned it yourself: "half of the healing from scholars comes from the pet" (false), if that is the case then what would that make the "dps" fairy?
If it's anything like the egi's, Embrace will disappear as spammable ability. If not embrace, the DPS abilities will have relatively long cooldowns for it's purposes. What was that? "Give the dps abilities short cooldowns"? I think I hear summoners rioting already for stealing their class specific trait.
A fairy that has:
1. The mandatory Embrace.
2. Takes the damage of its master.
3. Casts Embrace on the entire party by sacrificing 80% of its current health.
4. And sacrifices 50% of its current HP to raise a dead ally and restoring the raised ally's HP depending on the amount of HP sacrificed.
For the billionth time Scholars do not have 'summons'. We have one companion named Lily who takes on two forms, the dawn Eos and the dusk Selene. Unless they completely rework the Arcanist class, we'll only get two job abilities related to healing, I'd much rather get more mitigation spells than a random 3rd fairy.
