Why does the PLD soulstone give a massive INT boost?

So I was checking out the stat boosts granted by all the soulstones and when I got to PLD I was quite surprised at the stat boosts.

PLD soulstone gives 11 STR sure, 10 DEX ok, 20 VIT obviously, 20 INT... Wait WHAT?!

Why on earth is one of the highest stats from the PLD soulstone INT?! We get no attack magic and my tests revealed no effect on any abilities or weaponskills.

So what's is the purpose of this? Is there something I missed? Is this stat just so we can make more witty provokes? Or perhaps it is hinting at the addition of banish in the future?

Though I wonder if Flash is considered "attack" magic. No actual damage done by it but it does have a status buff of blind. Maybe INT effects its potency. Its not healing magic which is effected by Mind. Which MND may have been a better option as we can cure, albeit weakly but it has saved me and others in the past.

Tested it, flash is modified by STR.

Also WAR's also get a +20 INT boost, what is this?!

Hmm, maybe its foresight for the upcoming expansion. Or an ability that never made it to the class and they never changed the attribute. An ability to be added for the level 60 increase. I don't know. It does seem like a waste as we have no attack magic and no use for it. Maybe it was supposed to be MND and no one noticed until now.

Plds are holy knights there or somewhat a "mystical" Knight.

It doesn't have any effect on Magic Resist or Circle of Scorn does it?

Its probably just an oversight or an old carry over.

The stats in this game are so boring, they probably had a more complex system at first and then dumbed it all down.

Is INT used for magic defense?

No, all defenses are calculated by gear.
If it were +20 MND, we'd all be happy.

Every job stone is +10 main stats/VIT, +20 off stats, +hugeamountofMNDforSCH. Sometimes an extra +1 for floating integers.

Well that's the thing, INT is not a main or off stat for PLD, it's entirely useless, if it was STR or MND or even PIE or DEX I could understand. But INT? Why give tanks +20 INT?

And no INT is only for magic spell damage, it does not boost magic defence or anything like that.

Yet War's still have the lowest INT of all the jobs, lol.

It's just the way job stones work, there's probably some silly reason way back that hasn't been tinkered with. War gives 10 str/dex/mnd/pie and 20 vit/int
It would be nice to swap up the strength and int values for both.

BLM only gets 20 in int, the rest are all 10.

This must be why so many Warriors are slowly becoming nothing more than brutes who care about "Axe Smash!!!" instead of "I have axe. You hit me, not squishies!" XD

On topic though... did Paladins or Warriors have any skills in 1.0 that keyed off of INT for damage/effectiveness? SirTaint is probably on the money when he theorizes "old carry over". After all, when so much was broken there simply wasn't time to "fix" anything that wasn't :)

These numbers scale by level, btw. Just unlocked BLM today and the stone only gives me 10 int/5 everything else. Was seriously considering staying THM for a few levels to keep b4b/internal release. (Not worth it vs. the 10 int/convert, but closer than you'd think)

Because PLD should be able to discuss Nietzsche while tanking. :D

BTW, never noticed stones give us extra status.

im guessing carry over from when elements actually had advantages over others and the TP system was trashy poop lol

Perhaps in 1.0 the damage calculation was similar to FFXI where you'd calculate dINT which was your INT - your opponents INT, which would mean having higher INT would lower magic damage, that's the only thing I can think of to explain it. But even if that's the case it's uselss now and would be nice if it was changed.
