Cross Server Party Finder + Grouping

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I would really love it if they added a cross-server party finder for those slower nights. For example, there are certain times when Cactuar has tons of things going on in PF but after 10PM PST it seems to be pretty much dead most nights.

While Duty Finder exists and definitely serves it's purpose, it can be difficult to find people with a similar play style at times because it's all random and uncontrolled.

In addition to this, the ability to group up and communicate in order to commence duties (not open world content and not to sell things cross server) with players from other servers would also be great. To me it would greatly extend the social aspects of the game since you could actually play with the random people you meet and have a good time with.

I know that overall this would take a lot of work for the devs to make happen but with that said, several other games already have this feature and it is fantastic to have so I would love to see them start working on it.

I also feel that if they ever do add this feature that it should be optional, meaning that if you do not want to see other servers' party finder that you can turn it off.

They always talk about server load I wonder if that is why. Though it probably wouldn't take much, as the system is already in place, just have to tweak the PF interface.

Isn't Duty Finder our cross server Party Finder already?

Like I said in the OP, Duty Finder is great and it serves its purpose but you are placed with random players of differing playstyles and you cannot do more than a single duty. In addition to that you're not able to communicate with anybody you meet in DF after the duty ends so if you meet people you like you will probably never talk to them again.

Cross server party finder + grouping would allow you to make parties with people who have the same mindset and want to do something more than a single time faster and easier. It would also allow you to communicate with people you meet and make more friends in the long run.

I believe it would also encourage people to try harder content, such as turn 5 or turn 9 since there would be more learning parties to join. There would also be more farming parties to join as well to make the hardcore players happy. In the end I feel like everybody is winning with a feature like this.

I don't see why not.

I have off server friends that I've grouped with before, I just set the language to japanese on both sides and we queue and always end up together. You need a full group between the two of you for it to work though, cutting out the middle man would be nice.

10million votes for this please. GW2 can do it, c'mon SE.

Edit: And the rampant RMT[insert reasons here] has already been rebuffed - RMT is still rampant despite their "measures". If people want to cheat, they'll find a way even if SE thinks they can deter it. Please stop punishing the legitimate players for the actions of mindless drones.

Square needs to get some better servers, then maybe we can get more features instead of hearing lolserverlimitations

Cross Data center PLS. Also would like to add PPL from other servers to friend list to play with in DF too.

If you've read the forums of yonder, this was one of the arguments on why it probably wasn't made available. DF for the JP servers of which we're at is amazing - PF will just add the icing on the cake, but it's a shame you can't befriend that person after the instance.

Primary issue of this thread: People using incorrect terminology.

Please don't use shard, server, server(game world), and data center interchangeably.

The duty finder system is already cross world ; but not cross data center.

I really hope Yoshi P considers allowing:

* Cross Server Friends List and Cross Server Parties (w/ Friends) in 3.0.

It allows friends to connect (and create new friends); adds a greater sense of Community (i.e., it's not a Faceless as it is now with Duty Finder (where you don't care about the people running w/ you because after the Instance, the party is disbanded and you usually never see these random people again).
