It's a shame because we actually had this option back in closed beta, then it was just removed without a word (there was nothing bugged in it) and replaced in 2.15 or 2.16 with the sorting function, that is far inferior to the old feature.
funny thing is how they said they'd give us what we asked for... and then they came with the prioritize function. The prioritize function is 100% NOT what we wanted, I really don't know what they were thinking when they came up with that.
What we want is really simple: we want to be able to HIDE INDIVIDUAL QUESTS from the tracker.
There you go. Maybe now it's clear enough.
ya I would much prefer hide, I am doing titan EX, Fish quest. Ya I want to do them I know they are in my list. BUT I DON'T NEED TO SEE THEM ALWAYS.
Still waiting =\ Maybe if we get enough answers in this topic it'll get some love?
I have a /hud dlist macro which I am grateful for, I hide all quests 99.99% of the time, but I really do agree that we need the ability to choose which quests to track and which to untrack (with no "minimum" set to show regardless)
Having full control of the quests should be standard
I do hope they adjust the current design ;)
and please while we are in the code of reworking the quest list... separate the duty / fate portion to be its own hud element!
I remember a dev posting something about not wanting to add anything else to the HUD because it could case lag. Well, to help those who lag I think they should add the ability to uncheck a quest and hide it from your HUD. I personally don't understand why it's not a thing already.
Honestly, I have never played a MMO where you're basically forced to see almost all of your quests on your HUD. Granted, you can turn off the quests tracker all together, but then you have to turn it on to level sync in FATES/check dungeon progress...
Agreed, I really would love to have the ability to hide the quests I don't want to see up. It does get annoying!
Let's hope one day we grab their attention and they realize they need to add this in the game asap!
keep posting, guys! maybe if we can get this topic to 30 pages or so we can get some love from SE?
I don't think we really need an option to hide quests. You can always abandon them and pick them back up later if you really they are really impossible to complete. The "prioritize this quest" was actually quite needed unless you wanted to open up your journal constantly just to see the quest you were working on at that particular moment. Hiding the quest altogether is unnecessary fluff, and since the dev team has more important tasks to work on, I don't see this getting much attention (esp. since the needed "prioritize" option took months before they realized it was important, or re-implemented it).
Abandoning the quest to pick it up later causes the following problem:
Guy A abandons Ramuh Ex quest
Guy B: Hey, A, wanna kill Ramuh Ex? we're short a healz, come fast
Guy A: Sure! *accepts party invitation*
15 minutes later...
Guy B: Hey, this was fun, wanna follow up with shiva?
Guy A: Sure! it just opened for m... D'OH!!!!!!!
The real problem lies with the extreme primals quests. They can sit there for MONTHS, and you never know when the opportunity will arise for you to complete them. Not to mention it'd be a pain having to go to Vesper Bay to get the quest every time you think of going there. Even more then the pain of having it permanently imprinted on your tracker.
{yes, please}
While the Community Team are busy replying posts about Triple Triad....
*shameless BUMP!* XD
It's specially annoying at the beginning of a week, when you have to do the CT+ST+WoD quest and a wall of text appears in your tracker.
Agreed. I'm still not sure why this option was removed from the beta.
It was replaced by the "Recommendations" feature that is all but useless. I think they removed it in order to get people to use that new feature, but I don't know anybody who actually uses it because you can't change the filters for it.
I agree 100% that you should have the ability to hide quests. Unless I have a quest checked off I don't want to see it at all.
I have a feeling that the PS3 will explode with all these hud options so let's not do that. We all want a 2006 released console to work just fine with current MMO's....
Wake up SE.
You could just cancel the quest and flag it again once you're actually ready to do it.Quote:

Games are not exactly built around you taking quests that you don't intend to finish.
Yes, I would like to have that option back! Really was so good to be able to choose what you want or do not want to be showed on your screen quest tracker. Not only this lame order which we have now, pretty useless.
Pretty please give it back to us.
I dunno why we still have "Fight (boss) in (boss's arena)" quests still. The original Hard Mode primals ended their quest when you unlocked the duty and Coil only has quests before unlocking and after completing so they were nice and out of the way as long term goals. All unlock quests should work the same way... Quest before and after but not during.
Remember when this was actually part of the game? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I would not mind this feature either.
And to add - SE, PLEASE give US the ability to control how many quests we can display on the UI!!! It's irritating as all hell to have only 5 quests able to appear, yet the beast dailies have 6 quests. I go do 5 of them and have to toggle my log with the check marks to get the 6th to appear before I go hand in. Almost all of your player base has screens with high resolution, so we have PLENTY of space - let us use some of it!
theres lots of issues with the quest tracker, it seems =\
Yeah it wasnt removed because of PS3, they removed it because they say it was bugged, I personally didnt have any problems for the few days we had it in Beta testing. If anything you'd think been able to remove quests off the UI/Screen would IMPROVE PS3 performance since its not using memory on unwanted txt lol.
Anyways again a Dev/Rep response on this would be nice please, give us an idea if this little request can be brought in 3.0 or a hotfix shortly after :)
Edit: On the PS3 hardware limitations; so far I havent found anything thats unplayable on PS3 using an SSD, frame rate doesnt even drop that much these days unless its Odin FATE lol.
Maybe they are worried about newer players hiding them, then losing track of what they are doing. You know the kind of player that doesn't know what they are doing just yet. I'd suggest bring this back from beta, to hide quests. But make it maybe a option that must be enabled in the settings. That way you can avoid hurting those newer players. It's the only reason I can imagine for them to not have this feature. Of course you'd think if that were the case, why are there so many quests that if you walk away by accident, without picking up the next quest in the line, you are really in trouble. Because you come back a week later and your like omg, where was that next quest. idk
Square baffles me. They act like adding simple things like hiding a quest from a list on the screen and adding a right click to report Gil sellers are monumental undertakings.
If adding these simple QOL improvements is a big deal get better developers.
Ya know I really want to quote this for truth. I would love the quest tracker feature back, and for the devs to pull there heads out of there asses on the RMT spam. Really SE, the game has been out for over a year now. Why the hell can I not click a guys name in chat who is an RMT bot spamming utter crap across my game, and repot him? How is it so much harder to implement then your horrible "report him" feature?
And this thread gets buried again =p
Oh wait....
Really needs to be implemented especially with such as the zodiac quests where you may have 8-10 dungeon objectives up at any given time, that's a lot of screen space, be great to hide them if I was levelling a new class or just clearing up random side stories and stuff
