Time needed to build a relic? (As of 2.51)

Hi all

I am just wondering if anyone could estimate the time needed to build a relic starting from atma. If it matters, at about 4~5 hours of play time per day.

If I were to take a random shot in the dark:

Atma - 3 days
Animus - 18 days (assuming 2 days per book due to FATE camping)
Novus - 7-21 days (Assuming infinite Gil/budget Relic and luck with the FATE farm)
Nexus - 7-10 days (Assuming full time light farm)
Zodiac - 7 days (that RNG)
Zeta - 7 days (according to a live letter, apparently)

49 days (7 weeks) to 66 days (~9.5 weeks)

If you have a Zodiac already, you can light farm while getting KIs for Zodiac, helping reduce that time greatly.

That's actually a lot less than I expected. Hm...

Here's the rough time it took me based on 6 hrs/5 days per week. I have my novus and I'm collecting light atm.


Atma - 6 hrs
Animus - 9 days (assuming 1 day per book. I completed 3 books in a day....The FATES occur much more often. I waited no more than an hour for 2 of them. The others were near immediate)

Nexus - 7 days I agree with this. You'll need to be farming light all the time and using the light tracking websites. Just make sure you don't do a 60 min dungeon for 8 light when you can do simple trials and more of them in that same time period.
Zodiac - Not on this yet but I've heard up to 10 days as some dungeons are just rude.

I get alex like crazy from FATEs lately, it feels like it's in the neighborhood of 20%. You can probably beat that rate if you're in a good hunt party with windows up, but not with soldiery farming.

Each time you get 40 light for 1 mehatma, you have to go back and get a new one at swiftperch.

Yeah, I heard the latest phase was super short. It's getting there that I have to weigh and think about.

Might as well... Yoshi did say that the Relic would end up being the most powerful weapon in the game. Plus, you can get it now whereas the Dreadwyrm is not so easy for the masses.

Assuming 5 hours a day ...

Atma - 1 day, maybe dip into the next day if unlucky
Animus - 7 days, 5 hours lets you do a book and a quarter if you get insta-queues into dungeons and aren't FATE blocked by luck
Novus - 5 days, a lot more if you're poor and need to get gil or spiritbond what you want though you can just use a ghetto build and come back to this step
Nexus - 4-5 days since the light buff. It takes about 20 hours of some decent grinding, less if you get into an extreme mode farm, more if you have queues.
Zodiac - 5 days unless you get unlucky. Most dungeons are within 3 or so attempts, but sometimes you get that one that takes 15+ tries. Also can depend on how much Soldiery/GC seals you start with.
Zodiac Zeta - 2-3 days depending on the type of group you get. Hundreds of people already have it 12 hours after the patch dropped.

Total investment - 24-26 days, 80k GC seals, a whole lot of Soldiery, upwards of 10 million gil depending on materia you get and luck

Reward - best weapon in the game, and I'd say grinding on your main class for literally weeks will improve you in some way, if not overall then fight specifically.

Atma can be done in a day. I got all 12 in about 4-5 hours. Did it a Sunday morning. I haven't started books yet since I have been saving sold for other zodiac items.

Please remember if you do not have any Disciples of Hand or Land at 50 in combination with the lack of gil and friends (and/or FC Members) who are willing to supply you with the HQ Crafted item requirements and Materia Requirements, and the personal "want" of maxing out important secondary stats, that this will additional time. :)

How do you get 100 lights/hour?

Unless you can do 25 runs of garuda hm during light bonus ( 2:25 /run) including queue time/people watching cutscenes / group with low DPS, I don't see how it is possible.

And Garuda HM is most of time gentle, very rarely bright.

Decided to start pursuing this. Atma took me 2 days (seems I'm unlucky...). I don't think I can do a pace of more than 1 book per day. But I'll see how it goes.

I'm a bit fortunate here, I think. I do have a supportive FC with a number of high end crafters, and a deep gil budget... Though I'll probably still avoid tier IVs (if I get this far), it just seems unnecessary.

They doubled the light for Nexus recently, so it would be 12.5 Garuda HM on bonus per hr. That's reasonable in a farming party if there aren't a hundred other groups doing the same thing, causing you to wait 3-4 minutes to get in each time.

Question regarding the Novus - I'm currently sitting at 72/75 and missing three Savage Might IV. I'm thinking of just grabbing something else and fixing it later (instead of waiting even longer to gather light).
Up to what point can you go back and replace a stat? Do I have to do so before turning it into a Nirvana or can I still swap those three stats around even at the Nirvana stage?

You can swap stats around at Zodiac and Zodiac Zeta stages.

Did zeta in under 12 hours total… got caught in the black screen thing, kinda got lucky near the end with 6 hours of Garuda on bonus

Get best title in the game imo

Did the Animus in about 5 days with around 2 books and a half done each day with one day being 3.

For me it was:

Zenith → Atma: 3 days, at 7-10 hours a day played. I did this on release of the new relics.

Atma → Animus: 10 days~ at 5-6 hours a day played. I did the first two books on release when the myth-farming was more brutal and so forth. I gave up on my relic for a while thereafter and finished the remaining 7 books in 2.4. After this, my grinding binge began.

Animus → Novus: 3 days at 10-15 hours a day played. I didn't have any Alex pre-hoarded, nor did I have a lot of seals. I basically hanged around in a hunt-premade party with my FC mates and killing hunts on spawn, but apart from that, I kept FATEing non-stop.

Novus → Nexus: 1 day at who knows how many hours played. I DF'd it all, just getting insta-pops on whatever was bright. I think it was around 18h in a row. (With brights netting me 8 light per).

Nexus → Zodiac: 1 day. I played pretty much 24 hours in a row from what I remember. I got pretty lucky with this, I oneshot 5 of my 16 items and the item that took me the longest was Hullbreaker Isle which was 14 runs. Overall, all 16 items took me 77 runs, so on average it was 4.8 runs per item. (Kept notepadding this). I had my Bombard Cores pre-hoarded as well as 2k/6.4k soldiery for the Sacred Waters, with the rest 4.4k soldiery coming from the dungeon runs, give or take a roulette for extra soldiery.

Zodiac → Zeta: 1 day. Not hard at all, 480 lights but with the halved pace (ie. brights being gentles), so 960 lights with the Nexus rates. I had good windows for this so I don't think it took me more than 7 hours.

If it's your second relic easily can go from zenith to zeta in a less than a month(about 3 or so weeks), if this is your first one the timesinks are going to be the nexus light grind, zodiac quest, and zeta light grind. Preceding stages can be knocked out in a day, and animus in 3-5 days.
