A simple way to fix mount heavy.

Anything below your lvl cannot inflict mount heavy.

I prefer the old days in 1.0 when getting hit likely killed you or dismounted you from your bird, but sure we can go with the CareBear ideas. As there really are no level 50 monsters out there, that means you'd suffer no penalty for carelessly traipsing about Beastmen territory.

The reason its more annoying than dangerous is because almost everyone is decked out in 130 gear. So when you get heavied, all thats going to happen is a 20 second slow while the enemies shoots you with spit wads. Call it "carebear" all you want. But it doesnt change the fact that heavy is completely unnecessary at end game and I sincerely doubt anyone will lose sleep if it was removed altogether.

I'd rather they bring back Lamed or whatever the effect was in 1.0.

Get Lamed? Dismount, no more Heavy, kill the mob, remount and carry on.

Simple way to fix mount heavy.

Sprint in places you may get heavy.

Which is why I said I felt it should be more of a punishment, the Heavy effect alone is a start. But in 1.0 days if you stormed a Beastmen stronghold solo, the only thing you were getting was a homepoint, regardless it's quite easy to avoid if you just juke the monsters a little bit. But I think they should give the open world a bit more bite, if you will. No need to bring back the level 99 mobs from 1.0 but at least make taking on the entire Ixal clan a bit of a challenge. As it stands they pose literally no threat at all unless you are AFK.

The only way you would "punish" people in the overworld is by throwing in super high level monsters just for the sake of punishment. Either way, it would still be damn annoying due to the fact people travel between areas constantly as their quests demand, so all it would do is waste time and give the player no incentive to tackle the problem head on.

Plus people will just find ways around most mobs anyways, the only mobs that are really tricky to avoid are ones guarding entrances, and those are mostly confined to the strongest beast tribe areas.

Even if the enemies force them to dismount, nothing is going to stop them from trying to run away anyways, if anything heavy is better about it since it would be easier to stay and kill the thing, then remount since heavy would be gone by then. Unless you are a CNJ/WMG, esuna and sprint!

On DRG: heavy > dismount > turn and face mob > Elusive Jump > lose aggro > re-mount.

Heavy is nothing more than a nuisance. How anyone can think it's a good addition or makes the world more "dangerous" is beyond me. In its current state, anything outside of dungeons that isn't an A or S rank is laughably weak and pathetic, and even when our item levels weren't over 100 yet, the world we currently have access to didn't seem dangerous. It's throngs of pathetic, weak monsters all over the place. Heavy just means they cannot be ignored like they should be. They're too weak to matter, so SE gave them a pointless but highly annoying skill so the monsters can shout "LOOK AT ME! I EXIST!"

Heavy makes sense in dungeons for fight mechanics... Like Copperbell Hm final boss, it actually can make things difficult if the feeder gets heavied. Or in other fights with large aoes to avoid... Open worldd though? Just annoying...

Even simpler?...zero damage means no status ailment...done!
