You have main characters or important characters from every series I dont think Y'shtola really fits, regardless of her being stuck in Theatrhythm. Don't get me wrong Y'shtola is great and everything but I feel she doesn't represent FFXIV and its players very well. The only thing she has going for her is the fact that she is a Female Miqo'te which atm is the most used race/gender in the game. I feel they only stuck Y'shtola there as Miqo'te fanservice, like they do for a lot of FFXIV promotional artworks or concepts, there is almost always a miqo'te in the center of the picture, larger than anyone else and always the focus point.
In my opinion. I would much rather have Meteor "AKA Derplander" as the FFXIV representation.
It would have been the perfect chance for SE to show off dragoon derplander/Marauder and even young Archer in action. When I think FFXIV I always think this guy and I feel he represents all the players not just the game itself.

You can't exactly give a solid persona to the character, and all things considered, most people wouldn't even really understand why he's there... heck, we don't even have a solid reason why he's being shown in FFXIV lol. Besides, Dissidia is all about the fan service of showcasing famous characters who have ties to the game and their stories. It's never been about representing the players of the game... If this is truly just an arcade game I think there's no hope of seeing it outside Japan. In Japan you still find arcades fairly commonly (although half of the building are usually those UFO-catcher prize-grab thingies), but in the US they're practically dead.

I've played it many times when there and really wish they would bring it to the US, but can understand why they don't bother.
On the other hand, while Gunslinger Stratos would be hard to bring to console (it has 2 guns which you can combine in various ways to form different weapons, and the guns have thumbsticks and other controls on them ---- very specialized hardware), a fighting game should not be. So hopefully someday they might port this to XB1/PS4. -

That doesn't make good for representation. :\ Only faces that either stand out, or that everyone recognizes, would. Technically, Y'shtola does both. Everyone that plays the game knows who she is, and anyone who hasn't is going to go "OMGKITTY". But yeah. Just from what I've seen alone, the guy seems more like "one of us adventurers" than a support character - when adventurers (the players) are the main characters.
So... I agree and disagree o.o The guy is a better but not a good representative of FFXIV, though Y'shtola is a better but not a good rep of FFXIV o_oa .....

I don't have a suggestion on who would be better, though.
Though, playing badass gunner Merlwyb would be fun -

First thing to remember, Y'shtola is also the Curtain Call rep for XIV, so she already has more exposure outside the main game than almost every other character. Second, there is the possibility that this Dissidia will eventually be ported to systems (probably ps4), my reasoning being that both Persona 4 Arena's did so. The Scions don't do crap. We do 95% of the dirty work, so that seems a more suitable choice.

Y'shtola is given the most screen time in FFXIV's 2.0 scenario, especially if you start in Limsa Lominsa (this is of course, excluding Minfillia). She's also technically the first 'full' White Mage (or Conjurer) to appear in a Dissidia game (and we already know some of her abilities, this including the ones seen in 1.0). Thancred is just a Rogue... with GLA abilities, Papalymo is a Black Mage (so he's automatically out because of Shantotto), Yda is a Pugilist (Prishe is a MNK/WHM and Tifa is a... Pugilist? Whatever the case, she's also out), Urianger has currently only summoned Topaz Carbuncle and nothing more and lolMinfillia.
Y'shtola just has more going for her in terms of screen time and abilities (deflect/melt bullets, block blades with palms, super shield, copies of herself, CNJ abilities).
Y'shtola does the thing. (whatever happened to Travanchet?)
