Will I miss anything for not having it(like story wise), I honestly don't have the time to grind to get it
I read in another post people that complete it the hard way before Heavensward's relic equivalent will get an unspecified "bonus" so I personally want to try for it... It could be frivolous like a minion or an actual stat bonus on the weapon, but whatever it will be it was only a brief mention in a live letter
We need information, It would suck that I miss out part of the story or a exclusive intro to the xpac if I don't complete it like how the legacy people got a different intro then the people that started ARR.
I somehow doubt it'll be a stat bonus. More likely a minion/title
The Zodiacs are not meant for everyone. It is for those who enjoy the grinds of old mmo days that can be completed in little chunks of time or long marathon grind sessions. I personally love the route the Zodiacs take and will finish mine before the questline is complete. If you enjoy like grinds and have the time then go for it. If it is something that will frustrate you to no end and cause you to want to jump on the forums and beg for nerfs then it is not meant for you.
The question is not about the zodiac relic method, but whether something will be missed if it's not completed. Completionists want to know. I don't want to miss out on a vanity that I could have had with just a little more effort.
I REALLY hope its not a title, there's "Lady protector" I'm trying to get as is
I have 3 Zodiac weapons right now and will have a 4th maybe 5th soon. I hope we get a Stat bonus,Title and a Minion!! (lol. abit much, eh?)
Op, you should try to finish at leat one just for the experience of completing the Quest before more nerfs are added. (I hope we dont see anymore more nerfs to this quests...just sayin')
The relic thus far hasn't included much story. Just a little but of lore directly surrounding it.
I doubt you'll miss anything but an achievement and/or some kind of reward that makes it a easier to start the heavensward relic.
Until they nerf it hardcore and/or you can do a lot of daily grinding, it probably isn't worth it to start now. There's a tiny bit of lore, but nothing storywise; no special cutscenes or anything. The final version is dye-able, however, if you really care about that. >_> I'm only doing mine for the experience of learning to tank (I think I've gotten pretty good at it), so unless you go in with a reason other than just getting a high-tier weapon you're probably better off just buying the Sol/Pie weapons and waiting for the expansion relic quests. Supposedly, there will be some unspecified/unconfirmed bonus for having it fully upgraded when they introduce the next relic quest in 3.1, but it's not going to be necessary for the next relic quest either.
Always found it odd. The Zodiac weapons were 12 weapons that belonged to ancient heroes, but as is we only have 10(if you count Summoner and Scholar as two different ones. They are sort of like the Gemini of the group.). I can honestly see the Dark Knight and Astrologian having one each, and I am sure Machinist could easily make one on par with the zodiac weapons(kind of like the 13th zodiac symbol).
There's also something we have to remember: The zodiac weapons we have now are COPIES of the real deal. They look similar, but they aren't the genuine articles. What if the expansion allows you to put together the real Zodiac weapons together and perhaps use your copy as the core? So your stats would already be customized for you, and would possibly be even bigger and not require you to do some of the more grindy steps?
You'll miss Gerolt evolving!
I don't know why you ask if you say you don't have the time in the first place so it wouldn't matter either way.
If you don't raid and wont be clearing t13 anytime soon, I would recommend you push for the final zodiac. You wont be missing anything grand when it comes to the story, but unless you want to wait for when SE makes Unidentified tomes available to everyone (which maybe soon) and get the augmented poetic weapons, go for the zodiac.
Basing off of SE's previous trend, the next zodiac is either i130 or i135
I believe 12 counts for both the Sword and Shield as 2 separate entities. I also heard that Sasuke's Blades are counted as 2 distinct blades in the lore, but I haven't done that quest so can't confirm. If these are true, we have our 12. It's most likely there won't be an equivalent Relic->Advanced Relic->Zodiac->Advanced Zodiac(coming in 2.1 or 2.5) for the new jobs and they will start with their own lore come 3.0.
If that were true, then it would also have to include the Kaiser knuckles as well. If I recall, those are two knuckles which would make it 13 and not 12 which wouldn't fit(it worked with the mechanist since it would be making a new one, not as a established one.). I don't think they include pairs as 2 weapons separately, just as 1. Besides, the shield is normally treated as an accessory as opposed to a weapon.
SE like catering to new players and it wouldn't be "fair" to new players that something from 2.0 will give them a bonus in stats. I believe it'll probably just be something relatively frivolous, but enough to "distinguish" you from the 3.0's relic weapon. Like a different glow, a title, slightly different color scheme, a mount?
Kinda like how 1.0 players were awarded the gobue mount and the Sylph quest also awarded you with the gobue mount, but with a slight variation.
If anything it might alow you to skip the 1st stage of the relic weapon, ie not needing to get X weapon with X melded on it
What I want to know is where these ppl getting this information about special stat/bonus to relic? only thing I have read is that relic will continue in 3.1, there have been a lot of player rumors about a new relic quest line by players who want to see this one get nerf. Also yoshi already said that all 2.0 content can be played in 3.0. The 2.0 relic quest line ended when they became zodiac weapons and a new weapon forged has begone.
I kinda want to know that, too. And even if there was an official comment that those who have finished the 2.x relic weapons before the expansion will have a slight advantage, that advantage could just consist of being able to start the 3.x relic quest right away instead of having to finish 2.x relic first (since they already did). I dunno. I mean, even if they nerf the process even further to make the 2.x relic quest an even easier/quicker process, that'll still be an advantage. Unless the comment mentioned anything more specific, I mean.
As far as I'm aware, someone suggested it in a thread and then the internet took its natural course. Viola! 'we might be getting extra stats'.
edit: I know Yoshi-P said something about doing something for people with completed relics in an interview, but I can't remember where I read it.
