Questions about NIN "hide" and PvP

I've noticed this quite a bit lately and I'm not sure why but I can never use hide again after the initial time I use it in Slaughter mode. As the tooltips says I merely need to be out of combat to use hide which I am since I can mount back up as well. I've even tried running far away from the action and it still won't let me reuse it. Is there something I'm missing here? Or is this working as intended?

Run even further away.

I've quite literally ran from the middle of the carteneau flats back to the spawn area and it still hasn't allowed me to use hide again.

The range at which you drop out of combat in PvP is extremely far. Remember to take into account anyone you hit or anyone who hits you, you're essentially 'in combat' with them. An aggro in a loose sort of sense.

In Slaughter mode you'll get hit by so many things that the 'aggro range' basically covers almost the entire center platform. In order for you to Hide again you would have to go down the stairs and maybe even more.

A teleport's distance is enough (if not more) to get out of combat. So in other words:

Middle <-> Outpost
Outpost <-> Any Teleporter

will get you out of combat.

The only time I've cleared combat is death. I've done all you have mentioned. The only thing I can think is if my party members are in combat that also will keep me in combat.

I'm not trying to complain, I still love playing my NIN in PvP and I've hit rank 45 with NIN but I feel it needs to be a little easier to use hide again, having to run accross the map just to be able to hide again is a little silly. I feel if I'm away from combat long enough to be able to mount again I should be able to hide again as well.

I've noticed in many games that sheathing your weapon will get you out of combat faster. I never actually tested it in ffxiv but I just do it out of habit now.

Unfortunately that doesn't have an effect here, in terms of being able to hide again.

As far as I know on the hide mechanics for PvE, you can use Hide even after your companions enter into battle so long you havent hit anything or have been hit by anything.

But once you use an action to enter into combat, you will not be able to use it again until the mob fighting your party is dead... like... literally all of it... and the ones to come.

I've found this to be true, you can be in combat, have dots on you, use the jump pads and go into hide as soon as you land. It's saved my butt many of times.
