no more ex modes till heavensward? o.O

i am quite surprised since noone asked this so far but is shiva gonna be the last ex mode till the expansion pack? 2.5 didnt bring any ex mode at all sure we dont have the "full" patch yet but i havent seen a single word from the devs about this topic either so far.

did i miss something or can someone show me a interview/liveletter where they state otherwise`?

i was really hoping to see odin or ultima ex or something before lvl 50 content gets closed for good.

Odin Ex (or Hm since it wasn't actually called hm itself) is probably the only thing left if we are getting something before 3.0. I doubt Ultima is getting an Ex mode, though I would find that fun.

As noted, there isn't really anything else in the game right now to give an Ex mode to; there are no more Primals short of Odin and Odin is pretty badass as it is.

Not really a question of not wanting to; just...no real battle to do it for.

Honestly, I think the game has sort of hit the quota of expected content available in the general player mind. I don't think anyone will reject the idea of a Odin EX or any other form of EX if they choose to include one, but I don't think anyone will really complain (much) about it not being there. With the Gold Saucer around the corner and 2.55 not long after, there's quite a lot more to be added into the mix. Then we look into the next major thing not that far off from them... Heavensward expansion. Would not be surprised if there's some unannounced minor content additions before that as well.

Maybe that's all just me though, as the Gold Saucer has been something I've been exclusively looking forward to since they first hinted at it being a thing for FFXIV. Like if they somehow fail on that one, the game would probably lose me completely lol... well, probably not, but it'd be enough to drive me away for a good long while at least.

I think it makes sense for there to be an Odin XM . He's really the only primal left of 2.0 and it'll be nice to wrap up his story. Unless he'll play a role in heavensward

Lol oh god Ultima EX, Ultima HM can't even be cleared in DF most of the time. xD

More proof 2.1 was the high point!

Turns 1-5 were still a thing.

i90 had multiple paths.
Myth tombs = i90
Coil = i90
EX ifrit,titan,garuda = i90

Relics = i90
Weekly tokens = i90
Coil wep = i95

iLvL was not a thing, player skill was a thing. Scared to enter coil? No prob get i90 via other means and then try. The player base was broad as were the gear routes.

Now it's just coil and hunts.

Levi was done well with useful weapons.

Ramuh dropped useless gear and later updated the accessories. (Way too late)

Shiva was done ok with weapons but the wrist should have been i130.

Odin is useless

I feel like this thread is a direct contradiction to that. I've known dozens of people that had this same exact concern as the OP here in the last couple of weeks. People expected an Ex primal because every .1 patch included at least one. To fail to deliver now was a deliberate failure on the quota for 2.0 that many people expected. We want an ex primal riot!

He's laughable as is.

DPS dodge like you always have and dps as hard as you can at the end.
Healers AoE heal for all the raid damage from einherjar and you slap your DPS around if they can't dodge basic ground attacks making your job harder than it needs to be.
Tank uses 1 cooldown on the one tank buster move.

So. Incredibly. Simple. Only healing is tough and only then if you have DPS derping around getting hit.

They could step it up in a big way for an Ex version. They really dropped the ball by failing to give us some decent mid range content this patch.

What good would that do? It'd just be another frame rate dropping zerg rush, only with the boss having more HP and higher strength.

It can be done, I've done it! We will bring them kicking and screaming if we have too!

Hard Modes went from worthwhile to useless with the introduction of Leviathan. Even if the weapons rewarded were only good for the next set of HM Primals, they still had a use and it still felt like there was a point to doing them (especially when Titan was a gate).

EX Garuda/Titan/Ifrit were also good because you got the highest current ilvl accessories from them (really worthwhile rewards) and you got a weekly weapon equivalent to the upgraded Relic with different (and usually more worthwhile) stats. EX Levi was good, rewarded T5 tier weapons with different stats, similar to the original 3. Ramuh was relatively worthless. Shiva EX was good for a short period of time (free i120 bracelet), then started losing it's worth - i115 weapons were a good idea, but that's what they should've been to begin with.

Hopefully they've learned what worked and plan to implement it into 3.0's EX/HM Primals. I doubt HMs will change, but who knows.

I rather have more challenging open world content with useful gear (Fraction Leves, etc) then more EX primals with vanity gear :(

Everytime someone get killed by Odin during the fight, he increase his damage and defence for 20 seconds.
And let him spam adds, dozen of adds (maybe valkyries?). And then let him kill everyone if the adds are still alive after 45 seconds ^^

So basically, he becomes unkillable in short order, knowing how the fight goes.

Imo they should save battle content for 3.0 and just release a bunch of stuff so we can have that 2.1 feeling again.
Right now the current gear peogression is so worn out that it's like a 1 way routine to end all 4 star gear crafting rotations. Lol
I assume that's the case due to them releasing gold saucer as their final big wow new shiny thing before 3.0 as they have no other "mini game" content besides parley in the inn.... Lol
They finished BCoB, added more body to PvP, they made more crafting related things ( ixali ), added a lot of primals, & covered about half of the normal dungeons as HM. So the only thing they have left is to add minigames for some R&R before 3.0

Hopefully we will get gilg ex, ultima ex and odin ex in 3.0. As i feel like they kinda got stuck in between hardmode and ex.

Which is why I think this is the worst patch (taking 2.3's spot). An 'EX Mode' they could have done could have been a 'Mistral's Ballad: The Ascian's Bane'. Fight Lahabrea and Nabriales and be rewarded with i125 weapons and i130 accessories.

Because the name of the game is Cryptkeeper XIV A Realm Undead?

Square Enix really dropped the ball not giving us a trial worth doing in this patch. Every other patch has added relevant trials.

2.1 added 3 (Titan ex, Garuda ex, Ifrit ex),
2.2 added 2 (Moggle Mog ex, Levi ex),
2.3 added 1 (Ramuh ex),
and 2.4 also added 1 (Shiva ex)

Now all of a sudden 2.5 comes along and they add nothing relevant. What's the deal? I hope 3.1 is as good as 2.1 was.

Just keep in mind that 2.5 was split into two parts. An EX Odin hasn't been denied by the devs. So, anything is possible.

So you don't like odin? All the other EM primals except for Ramuh dropped useful gear when they were released.

We need more sidegrade gear, if you don't do coil or you're unlucky you will never get 2 i130 rings as it stands.
