I'd really just like their uniform colors...
As much as I want it, I think there's a story-based reason that it's not going to happen. I'm not going into any details (on the basis of not knowing for sure myself), but there've been other threads on it.
If the 2.5 trailer was showing what I think it was showing, that may be a long ways off...
they're not going to upset the balance of the triad of grand companies just yet, if ever. If anything any added grand company will be mutually exclusive from our current ones and have no function beyond another currency to spend on things.
Much as I love Maelstrom, I'd easily trade it in for the Braves if the option was ever given.
I agree with this, with the addition of Frontlines PvP I think it would be difficult to ever add another Grand Company with the same scope as the three we already have. I hope we'll have new factions to join in the future (the houses of Ishgard is where my money is right now), but I don't imagine any of them will be in the same pool to pick from as the Grand Companies.
I don't care if it's joinable, but I really think Alphinaud should give me that uniform as an "honorary Brave"..........
....
look I really just want that pretty blue outfit.
I can't see it happening with Heavensward coming soon. I think it will be more likely that Ishgard (Coerthas) gives us another option for a Grand Company. Besides, I would much rather instead of another Grand Company, join up with the militaries of the 3 cities. Namely, the Brass Blades of Ul'dah, the Wood Wailers of Gridania and the Yellow Jackets of Limsa Lominsa.
I just want the salute, if I'm being perfectly honest. The uniform is nice, but that salute!
I have a feeling Crystal Braves will end up being abolished or worse.
Sadly with how the currrent storyline is heading we may not get the chance. Getting the Emote Salute maybe for 3.0 or 3.X era is possible but making the Crystal Brave as a joinable GC may not since officially the Crystal Brave is part of the Scions being their military force.
I say how the storyline is heading due to the hint in 2.5 Part 1 with a possible traitor among the Crystal Brave ranks that may reveal him or herself in 2.5 Part 2 and foreshadowing of the possible fall of Ul'dah, Crystal Brave V1, and Scions in 2.5 Part 2 Storyline as part of the 2.5 trailer.
Am I the only one who seriously does not trust the Crystal Braves or Alpinauld? Ever since 2.3 I've been watching them with weary eyes...
To be fair I really wish my character could just say screw it and follow Merlwyb directly instead.
2.4 spoilers:
I'm very behind on the story, haven't even fought Shiva yet (following the Ivy around through the Grid/Shroud area at the moment), but I haven't seen anything in particular yet to make the Braves as a whole and Alphi untrustworthy. I have kinda had a gut feeling that the big guy I'm working with on the Ivy case though. He's a little ... I dunno, I can't say shady because he's done and said nothing wrong, just got a not completely confident feeling about him I guess.
As for the Merlwyb comment though, I completely agree ^_^ Been a Limsan gal since the start in 2010 and I'd LOVE to work directly under the Admiral and Mistbeard <3 The Maelstrom job seems so far removed from them though, maybe higher ranks will be better eventually..? I dunno.
Knowing my luck though, all the cities' governments will be completely overhauled with 3.0 when they do the next thing to destroy/remake the world and I'll never get up there >_<
I'm kind of expecting that to be like "welfare gear" that we get as a reward for completing the story, so that new players finishing all this story stuff will get something comparible to the higher ilvl gear we all have already, to help them on their way to 60.
I absolutely trust Alphinaud, but there is a certain other Crystal Brave that I felt suspicious of the very moment I saw him. I can't explain why I felt that way but with how things are going that feeling is only getting stronger.
I just want the blue outfit and salute....
For coin andcountrymore coin!
I'm still not 100% he's the traitor despite everything pointing at him so far.
Ilberd's actions are somewhat indicating that he is using the Braves to provide weaponry for the Ul'dah uprising. We even know he's good friends with Raubahn, which gives us a good hint of his motivation to support the rebels if he had te same past as the leader of the Immortal Flames. Yet he helped in unmasking and traping a Garlean spy in te midst of the GC, so that still makes me question if he is the real traitor or not.
