Make these changes to the Battle Log. Details inside!

Allow us to separate Battle Log into different categories. Just the option to have the battle log show information only we choose would be very helpful, and would allow it to be more digestible.

Character Configuration-> Character-> Battle Log Settings

[] Display All (Clicking this disables all other options).

[] Self (Clicking 'Self' enables all. Clicking individual boxes allows you to hide/display attributes of the Battle Log.)
--[] Damage Dealt to Enemy/Enemies
--[] Damage Dealt to Player
--[] Healing Received
--[] Healing Dealt
--[] Buffs/Enfeeblements/Effects
--[] Damage Over Time Tick

[] Party Member Information
--[] Display All
--[] Healing
--[] Damage
--[] Buffs/Enfeeblements/Effects
--[] Damage Over Time Tick

[] Monster Information
--[] Buffs/Enfeeblements/Effects

Looks like a parser.

It doesn't look like a parser. It IS a parser.

^ you guys have no idea what a parser even is if thats what you think the OP is talking about. OP is talking about battle log filters and parsers work best without filters.

Except for that in a parser you could find wanted info in a blink of an eye. So yeh, basically it comes down to a parser.

You guys must not know what a parser does. Having all the base information in front of you does nothing without 20 minutes to sift through it and calculate any kind of relevant information. What he is asking for is no where near being a parser.

A parser (or meters) is something that reads your combat log and spits out information (such as a graph of damage over the course of a fight). That's not what he's asking for.

He's asking for configurations that don't suck. Like what WoW and most modern MMOs have.

I'm not seeing what the differences between what you're suggesting and the current battle log really are. The "damage over time tick" is new, but we have most these options already. There are some duplicate/overlapping options and some things just plain aren't clear, but what of what is listed is the main point?

Can't you already do this by creating a custom log, and then selecting which options from the battle text you want to display there? I think the only one that isn't available there is DoT ticks, but everything else, I believe we already have an option filter like that... I have a custom log that only shows my own outgoing damage and who defeated which enemy, for example.

Yes you could do this with a custom chat log (I have already) but since you can only have limited custom logs (is it 1 or 2? either way is low) maybe he doesn't want to use it for this. It would be a good working around, but thats not what the OP is asking for. He's asking for, as Zaft said, configuration settings that don't suck. I mean why do we even have a battle log? You can't find anything in that mess unless it JUST happened and nothing else is happening anymore, else it goes flying up the window never to be seen again.

I am glad we can now at least establish the difference between a parser and new config settings for the in-game battle log. Maybe the witch hunters will leave now.

I've customized my battle log
way back actually when the only classes I had were mrd and arm

only shows enemies getting buffs, casting something, damage from enemies that I haven't claimed, and synthesis messages for crafting

If it is something that can be done, it sounds a bit convoluted to do it. What I'm saying is that it should be a more readily accessible option for people to tweak. It's not really the most important feature, but having a digestible battle log, in the actual battle log window could be nice.

you can edit battle log
you can edit all of them

I agree with the OP's suggestion 110% I'd love to have this, even if just for a "What did I take damage from" option
