Guess that Tank love!

So let play Guess that game again this time try guess what the popularity of the 3 Tanks in 3.0 after 3 months.

I say after 3 months because that should be enough time for the Tank population to balance out between those who will be choose Dark Knight as their main tank job and those who will turn back to Paladin or Warrior as their main tank job.

Of course by then 3.1 should be released around that time. :p

For my guess I say...

1st) Warrior
2nd) Dark Knight
3rd) Paladin

Hmm pld is definitely going to be #3 and i want to say drk popularity may keep it in the #1 spot especially if its capable going strength tank route like war can.

Who's to say Paladins won't get something awesome from 50-60 that makes them the most popular.

I only agree with this because I don't plan on making DRK my main, I have spent to much time on Warrior as is.

But on that note, my hubby wants to start playing a tank with DRK, and my FC leader is planning on switching from PLD... but I think each tank will be better at tanking different content.

No different then Ifirt HM was a pain with 2 warrior when it was new.

Unless the other tanks get something as good as hallowed ground, paladins are going to continue to be a staple for endgame. I expect warriors and dark knight to be interchangeable depending on what utility they bring in the way of debuffs. If DRK has an intelligence debuff it can apply (like dragon kick) then I expect hands down it'll be the go to raid tank next to paladin.

I hope they redo paladin as it's very boring at low levels. Flash aint fun.

I'll be pretty disappointed if pally just gets another cooldown or something, this is the opportunity to add some extra flavor to it, hopefully more in the magic department.

It did quite well in population when things settled down. It wasn't until they nerfed Rog/ninja when the population dropped even more.

The developers have been getting better and better with their new creations. The raids and dungeons have been getting more intricate strategies and ninja has the most interesting combat out of all the jobs so far in my opinion. I'm thinking dark knight just might be the most fun out of the three because the developers are better at their jobs now. But that also means they could add abilities to the other two up to lvl 60 that could make them a lot more enjoyable.

I'll level all the new jobs to 60 and probably end up staying with MNK XD Same with my second job on main, atm is PLD, if I like DRK more then ill second job DRK instead, otherwise, PLD ^_^

On my alt, I will try the new healer job and if I like it more than SCH (<3 SCH why I made an alt to gear up same speed as main) will switch. Otherwise I'll stay with SCH on her too.

Was same with NIN, static asked if I wanted to switch to NIN being main melee in static, my reply was I won't know till I try it. And I'm still MNK XD

I'm going to just take all 3 to cap.
Probably going to take DRK to cap first and then do PLD, then WAR.
As far as which one I stick on for main, it will really depend on what new abilities that PLD and WAR bring to the table for 50-60. IMO PLD really needs something to give it just a bit more complexity and to up the fun factor.
I will say though, that conceptually as well as animation-wise Dark Knight and Astrologian are looking pretty awesome to me.

Both PLD and WAR don't suit my play style so it doesn't matter for me about which tank is more popular, I'll be trying DRK and hoping that it's fun for me to play :).

yeah, with the increased development time I'd imagine it'd be more fun and have a variety of skills

I still wonder what makes drk different from war?
We have a def tank, pld
We have an off tank, war
And what will drk become? Maybe a support tank (or anti mage tank?)
Please dont make him to a war with mag attacks... we dont need 2 off tanks!

Why is WAR an off tank? Both PLD and WAR are capable at taking the MT slot.

By reading lore, and i wonder how war can use hallowed ground... How would you explain that in most raids pld are maintanks?
I never said you can not play maintank with war, the design is just not made for him to DEFEND he is blessed with large life and some other attack skills to counter the loss of defending skills...
Then, pld is using a big Shield that should give you some clue. drk does not have a shield either but a 2 handed sword, nice compared to a 2 handed axe... *sigh*

Probably because people will take any tank that have the smallest advantage because it will me them clear a turn successfully. Wasn't there a point where people wanted warriors as MT?

Me too. I started off as paladin and it was so boring to level and it only got better at level cap. I levelled warrior and it was so better and much more interesting to play. I suppose my main job is WHM now but still have some love for my paladin.

It depends on the new skills and how they play at endgame, but I think the first 3 months we will see a alot of Dark Knights, both players who are new and old to tanking will take the Dark Knight for a test run. Since we have not played Dark Knight yet, there might be a chance that Dark Knight is as boring as Paladin.

1. Dark Knight
2. Warrior
3. Paladin.

Polls like this are pointless every job has its strengths and weaknesses its pointless to classify them in any way.

This is just for fun. No need to get so serious.

Besides people choose what type of things they want to main all the time. While others would alt between different Jobs of the same Role, they still choose one above all else to play as for majority of their Content.

It is just a guessing game of what people think the Tank population will choose to Main for the majority of their content experience. This is not about which Tank is better than the other because people perform differently based on if the gameplay style suits them or not and if they are motivated enough to put effort into that gameplay style.
