How does steady hand + basic synth = failure?

I"m sure this has probably been covered somewhere already, but I can't find it on these forums, and the info on the net is a couple patches old, so the percentages are different.

Basic synth has a 90% success chance. Steady hand boosts success by 20%. So depending how you do the math this is either a 110% total success chance or (20% of 90 = 18) a 108% success chance.

Yet I'm still getting quite a few BS failures with SH active. What am I missing? This happens on all of my craft classes so far, highest being lvl 29.

Could it have worn off? Or are you using Basic Touch sometimes by mistake? I mean, Basic Touch (Quality/HQ Rate) only has 70%, so with Steady Hand its 90%, and can fail. Basic Synth is what you mention but that is 90% and should be 110% with Steady hand, and from my rather extensive experience, does not fail.

I think I'm going to have to go with Human Error here, I've never had this happen and I'm about 3 crafts deep into 50, with the other 5 soon following.

Basic Synth - 90% Success - Increases Progress.

Nope, I'm definitely using basic synth, with the buff still active. I have 5 jobs well in to the 20s so I have a really good grasp on how it all works - or is supposed to work - but this keeps happening and I'm beyond perplexed as to why. I notice it happens frequently after I use Observe to expend all of my CP and add steps, but I make sure to still have charges left on SH when I finish with basic synth.

I'm just trying to find out if there's any reason why this wouldn't work as intended. If there isn't then perhaps I should be reporting this as a bug, lord knows there's still enough of those things cropping up.

Yeah if it is basic touch then it is a 90% chance which would explain the fails. So if you were trying to increase quality I.e. Basic touch you have a 90% chance of success with steady hand up. Progress increases with steady hand up won't fail 110%

Then I would report it as a bug you shouldn't fail basic synths with steady hand up b

This right here tells me that u don't have a good grasp of how crafting works.

1. You are probably using basic touch instead of basic synth
2. you are are using basic syth with 10 durability left and your 1 basic syth cannot complete the progress (botch synth)

I don't / never have.

I'm 4* ARM, BSM, GSM, CRP, LTW, WVR, and 3* CUL & ALC.

Although, I will admit, it might be good to use Observe, if you have between 46cp and 60cp, and if one more careful synthesis will complete your synth, and you are trying to bait a good or excellent condition for Byregot's Blessing.

At low levels, this shouldn't matter.

This tells me right here you don't have a good grasp on reading. Let me make this as clear as possible for you: I am not using basic touch. I am using basic synthesis. And I have enough progress left to easily complete with a single synth (ie, 88/90 using 22s or 105/112 using 15s). So from what the other helpful people have managed to convey, without being condescending douches, unlike yourself, is that there should not be a failure and I should be reporting as a bug.

Basic synth under steady hands should not fail.

Could you possibly post a screenshot of your synthesis just before the final basic synth?

Yeah sorry about that OP I read there post and wanted to say that isn't nice, but on a side note you get steady hand 2 from CUL 37. Which is 30% buff for 25 cp and it's amazing! :) good luck crafting I hope that issue gets resolved.

From what nyew have described, it is clear that nyew are using a skill nyew donyot think nyew are using.
Check, doublecheck, triplecheck that nyew are using the correct skill.
