I am getting close to rank 50 and I was wondering what gear I should try and get. I also want to make this a endgame gear check list for anyone who gets that armor or lance that is just awesome. :D

Champions Lance
Mosshorn Scale Mail (mostly for looks since a hauby has more strength)
from the dungeon I would pick up the boots, and helm at least, pretty decent chest piece but damn is it ugly, not a fan of the weapon but its free. I don't have either of the boots or helm so I wear Iron Sabatons and the conquistador elmo.
For the belt I wear a tarred voyagers and gloves I where iron guants, pants I wear leather skirt.
Accessories I go with 4 silver rings.
If you can't afford a HQ Champion's Lance, go for HQ Banneret Lance. Banneret +1 costs less than 1/10 of a NQ Champion's but is, oddly enough, better in every way. Non-lance weapons are usually not worth using as the 100% piercing damage type seems to increase damage output against most enemies.
I'd wear a full set of iron plate (cuirass, sabatons, celata, gauntlets) until you can get your hands on Dzemael Darkhold gear like Solid Scale Mail. For pants you'll want Tarred Leather Trousers and for accessories I prefer quantity over quality by going 4x Brass Ring + 1x Mythril Choker (this setup prioritizes ATK, then ACC and also gives high defense stats other than HP). If you want to further boost your defense you can swap those for different pieces but the trade-off doesn't seem worth it. Iron Plate Belt is most likely the best all-purpose belt.
For fights where you aren't going to take much damage, Kokoroon's Darkshell Mail, Conquistador's Elmo and Warden's Gauntlets give you more damage output. The Penance belt also works but I think the benefits are extremely marginal and the negative stats on it aren't very nice.
i use
Banneret Lance+2
Helm of the lone knight
Mythril Choker+1
Solid Scale mail
Mitts of the Lone knight
Electrum Ring+1 x2
Templars Tassets
Tarred Leather trousers(Blue)+2
Bladedancers Jackboots
i have Champions Lance+1 but banneret +2 beats it by 3 atk and 5 acc
just wondering why you folks prefer tarred leather trousers over leather skirt? is it the defense? skirt gives health and more str as well as 1% slashing damage cut and 1% lightning cut over trousers 1% blunt.
Currently (pre-1.19/1.20) the biggest perk for -any- piece of armor is it's defense. The way stats on gear work currently, they are worthless. The only stats a physical DD should worry about on any piece of equipment at this point in time is +Attack and +Accuracy.
there are some good new food options out there, i get about 83 hp for 30 minutes on grilled dodo.
thanks for the tip, i haven't had the chance to experiment with food as much as i want
i think im gonna buy most food with my grid and LL seals since they dont have any gear that i really want, and they are gonna have the new high rank armor recipes in path 1.19 that will prob blow everything in game right now away.
What are the stats for the miqotkabobs (mithkabobs) anyone know?
I believe in the power of stats!
Weapon: Iron Halberd +3
Head: Silver Tricorne +3
Body: Vintage Haubergeon +3
Heands: Mitts of the Lone Knight
Belt: Penance/Iron Plate Belt +1
Legs: Tarred Leather Trousers +3
Feet: Bladedancer's Jackboots
A long way untill I get all of this.
iron gauntlets are better then the mitts esp if you get +3 which apparently you are quite fond of
iron sabtons are better then bladedancers esp if you get+3
when 1.19 comes out they are gonna have rank 50 cobalt armor which will be best
also iron celata +3 is better then silver tricorn +3
oh, and penance is a rank 35 belt, here are a ton of things better then that.
im only telling you this cause you believe int he power of stats so i thought you should know there is better stuff.
those stats do have effect just not a lot.
That's the point, the stats literally don't matter.
I could have all kinds of great stat gear, and beat the toughest bit of content right now.
I can also have absolutely no stat affected gear, and get the same results.
If stats are that useless, then there is no point worrying about them until they do, in fact, matter.
From a min/max DPS perspective, in order of easiest to acquire to hardest to acquire (I use the terms "easy" and "hard" loosely since DH is basically trivial):
Weapon: Banneret / Champion's Lance
Head: Conquistador Elmo
Body: Kokoroon's Scale Mail / Solid Scale Mail
Hands: Warden's Gauntlets / Mitts of the Lone Knight
Waist: Penance
Legs: Leather Skirt or Tarred Leather Trousers
Feet: Cavalry Sollerets / Bladedancer's Jackboots
Jewelry: Mythril Choker + Brass Ring x4 or Mythril Choker + Garnet Ring x2
ATK and ACC have the most observable direct effect, point for point.
All non-lance type weapons are inferior to lances except on very specific mob types, i.e. crabs.
There are no prices on most of the stat gear since it's Unique/Untradeable drops. I'm really interested to see what they do with stats though, how well stats work on items will either please or piss off a lot of crafters who work for the HQ items. But of course the materia system will likely provide balance. Guess it's time to stop being lazy and start working on some crafts.
