Unfun fact: PSN is always down. EVERY. DAMN. DAY.

Please sever the PSN requirement to log in to FFXIV. That horrible service is down constantly. For example, today. For what seems like the 32nd time this year (2015).

Solution: switch to PC.

Er, neither of the PS4 players in my static have had trouble with PSN outside of maintenance and the DDOS attack.

I just got back from being away from home most of the day, and I'm unable to sign in. Hopefully this won't last all night...

You need to take this up with sony, not SE. They'd *love* to be able to sever the requirement.

Down for me too :/ How annoying. Sometimes I feel like I need to just leave FF signed in all the time so I don't have to deal with this.

Which is fine till you get the message "your game will be suspended in 5 minutes, because the licence could not be verified."

Can confirm PSN is down can't log in but I can log in my PC but I prefer to play on PS4 because it is on my big TV and the controller is better then the xbox one that i have on PC.

Never had that happen~ During Christmas I had my PS4 on for 4 days during the DDOS attacks and that never happened once during the down time, when all my friends couldn't log in. To my knowledge you only need it to verify once~

Just got out of tech support chat with a Sony rep, conversation snippet from 6:33 PM, Central time: You: Is there any ETA on when this issue will be resolved? AGENT: 1 or 2 hours and you will be back online. You: Can I quote you on that, are you certain? AGENT: Yes, between 1 and 2 hours and the issue will be resolved.

Let's see if they can manage to actually uphold that. Time to look for my pc gamepad, I think.

It goes down a LOT more often for PS4 users than PS3 users too.

Perhaps its because i've been playing on my wife's ps4. It's not the machine I normally log in on. W/e the case. I'm bummed.

Preeeeetty sure if the problem is PSN going down then switching to PC will 100% solve the problem. Since PC doesn't rely on PSN and all that.

Do people suggest this just to feel superior? Most of us don't have that much spare money just lying around to spend on a pc for the sole purpose of playing FF.

Just my f'ing luck, several hundred thousand gil worth of crops in my garden I need to log on and water and I can't. What I think needs to change in light of the fact we have external reasons we can't access this reliably is how fast certain crops such as Broombrush die without being watered.

My window for logging on isn't 24/7- I have to work and sleep too you know- and PSN outages can really really f' over gardeners. They need to extend the minimum amount of time crops need to be watered so the fastest dying ones aren't so at risk due to PSN outages.

You can buy a PC/laptop capable of playing this game for less than the cost of a PS4. It runs fine on a system I threw together in 2009...some of which was parts carried over from an older rig that I built in 2006.

You don't need a power-house system to play this game reliably....unless you want to turn on all the eye candy, but even then you can still get by with 2 year old systems. I can play for hours on end with a laptop from 2012 and my framerate stays above 40.

Oh and as for the controller issues, not sure about the OEM PS3/PS4 controllers, but the after market ones are often Plug-and-Play (in Windows 8 at least). I nabbed a wireless Rock Candy PS3 knock off (the ones with a USB dongle, takes batteries) for $20. Before that, I used a $15 Snakebyte USB corded PC PS3 knock-off for YEARS in XI and almost a year in XIV before the cord started shorting out. No special drivers were ever needed to use it even in XP.

You really don't need to throw a lot of money into a system for this game. Chances are, you may be able to use one you already have (though, you may need to upgrade a graphics card or something, depends on what you actually have).

I still can't get in and our raid time was scheduled to start 30 minutes or so ago. And we're at a crucial point of learning in T13 ;_;

But you bought a ps4 for $400+. Don't want to sound mean or entitled but leaving the ps4 for a pc was the best thing I've done. I missed the big outage and now this one along with psn maint.

I if you have a microcenter around you can build a decent build for around $450. My build cost me $400 and I run on high and I get 50+ fps. Gaming Rigs are not that much to build anymore

I logged onto the game and someone in FC was talking about how another couldn't log on because of PSN being down and I was like really? I was like just logged on like 20 minutes ago and had no trouble getting on.

I was referring to financial issues. quite a lot of people use computers that can't handle FFXIV to access these forums and cannot afford a new PC

Very annoyoying! luckily I havent logged out yet and wont be doing anything instances that might me me log out like frontlines. This is annoying and I wish sony could do something about this

they already bought the PS4 for that price. in most places you have economies that have to budget so many of them might be able to afford to build a PC months down the road but for now they are stuck with what they have. if it were me I would be trying to sell the PS4 about now to make back as much money as I could off it. why give sony more money for a service they can't seem to get their act together with.

I used to be a console gamer too, then I played BF3 on my 360 next to my friend on PC. Maybe he just hasn't seen the light.

When you buy a console, you know that you are going to be bound by that console's rules. The PlayStation, just like the Xbox and the Wii U, requires you to be connected to their specific network. If that network goes down, you don't get to play online. If you don't want to play by those rules, then play on a PC. Whether or not you can afford such a PC is nobody's problem but yours, and nobody, least of all Square Enix, owes you anything.
