Gearing for i80 sync PvP (Patch 2.5 Edition)

Argh, it took me long enough to get around to doing this, but here is my new "Twinking" thread.

First off an explanation of morale and ilevelsync.

Morale
When in PvP areas gear with the Morale secondary stat has its ilevel increased by the morale bonus. Secondary stats are increased by the difference between the stat cap of the items original ilevel and its new effective ilevel.

Ilevelsync
When you are in an area under the effect of ilevelsync the stats of any gear with an ilevel above that ilevel are decreased to the stat cap of the synced ilevel. If a stat is less than the cap it is unaffected.

Each slot has different caps, at i80 the caps are the following:

• Two handed Weapon: +33 Most/ +23 Det
• One handed Weapon: +23 Most/ +18 Det
• Shield: +9 Most/+5 Det
• Head: +19 Most/+13 Det
• Body: +30 Most/+21 Det
• Hands: +19 Most/+13 Det
• Waist: +14 Most/+10 Det
• Legs: +30 Most/+21 Det
• Feet: +19 Most/+13 Det
• Accessories: +14 Most/+10 Det

How they work together:
Morale is applied first and the ilevelsync. This can make several PvP pieces better than those of the same ilevel as of their new effective ilevel.

• Weapon: Dreadwyrm Spear (High Allagan Spear and Snaketongue Spear have 1 less Crit and a slightly longer autoattack delay)

• Hands: Astrum Armguards
• Waist: Direwolf Belt of Maiming/High Allagan Belt of Maiming (neither perfect, DBoM has -2 Crit/+1 Det vs HABoM)

• Feet: (Augmented) Ironwork Sollerets of Maiming (Snakeliege Greaves if you notice yourself missing to much)

Monk (Crit/Det):

• Neck: Werewolf Choker of Slaying/Dreadwyrm Choker of Slaying
• Wrists: True Ice Bracelet of Slaying (High Allagan Bracelets of Slaying is a good alternative)
• Ring 1: Judgement Ring of Slaying
• Ring 2: Direwolf Ring of Slaying

Vit Crit/Det Accessory Set: Healer preferred for survival, Good tank set if defending Flags solo in Secure.

• Ears: Hellwolf Earrings of Fending
• Neck: Werewolf Choker of Fending
• Wrists: Hellwolf Bracelet of Fending
• Ring 1: Hellwolf Ring of Fending
• Ring 2: Vortex Ring of Fending

Dex Crit/Det Accessory Set: Best for Bards and Ninjas

• Ears: (No Crit/Det Pieces, Werewolf Earrings of Aiming (Det/Skill Speed) and Allagan Earrings of Aiming (Crit/Skill Speed) are likely your best alternatives)
• Neck: Hellwolf Choker of Aiming
• Wrists: Dreadwyrm Bracelet of Aiming (Bogatyr's Armillae of Ranging is a good alternative)
• Ring 1: Werewolf Ring of Aiming
• Ring 2: Bogatyr's Ring of Ranging

Int Crit/Det Accessory Set: Summoner preferred, also used by some Blackmages. Scholars interested in dealing damage might look into getting them.

• Ears: Dreadwyrm Earrings of Casting (Direwolf Earrings of Casting are a good alternative)
• Neck: Werewolf Choker of Casting
• Wrists: Evenstar Armillae
• Ring 1: Judgement Ring of Casting
• Ring 2: Bogatyr's Ring of Casting

Int Spell Speed/Det Accessory Set: Good for Blackmages. Whitemages intertest in dealing damage might get them also.

• Ears: Hellwolf Earrings of Casting
• Neck: (Augmented) Ironworks Choker of Casting/Hellwolf Choker of Casting
• Wrists: Werewolf Bracelet of Casting
• Ring 1: Hellwolf Ring of Casting
• Ring 2: Direwolf Ring of Casting

Mind Spell Speed/Det Accessory Set: Not Suggested as healing amounts are more than sufficient with Vit builds

• Ears: Daystar Earrings
• Neck: Dreadwyrm Choker of Healing (High Allagan Choker of Healing is a good alternative)
• Wrists: Werewolf Bracelet of Healing
• Ring 1: Vortex Ring of Healing
• Ring 2: (None)

*These are based on my opinion and understanding. If you see a problem please politely correct me with an explanation. Not all sets give the perfect +164 Det/+234 Sec1 or +234 Sec1/+234 Sec2 because of lack of gear with the preferred stats in sufficient amounts.

In my opinion, SS is kinda useless for a WHM in secure.

From what I understand +234 Speed is roughly a ~9% decrease in casting time which would mean getting interrupted less.

I wouldn't think so. Presence of mind flat out doubles your current spell speed. With enough, you won't have to rely on Equinimity or sure cast to get casts off.

Thanks for putting forth the effort in writing this up and sharing it.

For warrior, Wootz Bhuj could also be used instead of Bearliege Axe (rank 45 to equip) at i80. It has 1 less Det but doesn't have a rank requirement to equip. Also, Direwolf Cuisses of Fending are also a good alternative for the legs slot (27 Crit and 21 Det at i80) if you don't have anything else.

I have to add that the (Weathered-) Evenstar Coat should also be considered BiS for Summoner. Or at least an alternative?

I don't really understand the stats with ilvl sync tbh
but I got a question,

Isn't Ultima Band of Casting an equal choice to Ramuh ring of casting
10 Det 10 Crit ilvl 80
9 Det 19 Crit ilvl110 How does this sync?

I agree that SS on WHM might be usefull in slaughter, but in secure its not, no matter how high it is. You cant cast a single spell without equ, surecast or what else you have there, because a healer normally gets focused that hard, that he just cant bring out a single spell without help.

As a Tank who's primary gearing method will be PVP. Many of these drops that you've listed in my set are flatly unavailable, as they require a level of PvE dedication reserved for my PvE character.

I've permitted myself as far as the participation in Crystal Tower due to the mass participation and ease of access, as well as currency items as I am getting them through PvP. However, for participating in fights such as Primals, I feel as if my PvP Character would be poorly suited for that due to lack of PvE orientated gear and the divided functions of the character.

As such, do you have any recommended alternatives to the sections in which crossing out the unavailable areas leaves me without an appropriate substitute to fill?

Judgement Ring of Casting syncs to +9 Det/+14 Crit So the difference between the two is 1 Det vs 4 Crit.

For ears? Earrings of Divine Wisdom from Tam-tara (HM).
For wrists and ring? i80+ Strength pieces with either Crit or Det.

Also the Demon Armor of Fending and Demon Sabatons of Fending are from the World of Darkness (final part of CT).

Isn't there an acc cap in frontlines? i know i've missed before i added some accuracy pieces to my gear. the items you listed here dont contain any accuracy so wondering if things have changed since secure was the only option.

You're right. I'm glad that you have noticed because this information hard to find. I think the only person who has ever posted something about an accuracy cap at Lv50 PvP was Koltik a long time ago. The accuracy cap for melee and tank is 363 for frontal attacks. Casters don't need any additional accuracy, but I'm not sure about BRD.

You definitely are missing and probably just aren't noticing it, it's especially noticeable on a melee like paladin or dragoon where you see your combos affected. It's fairly difficult to tell if you're missing due to accuracy or due to blind/featherfoot/attunement so often a lot of people don't realize it's actually due to accuracy.

yes you will miss. i've missed farshot as a bard when i went full crit/det without any acc. pretty sure its like PVE where it depends if you in the front/flank/rear of target.

I feel like Relics should be mentioned. For example, a full Crit/Det Veil of Wiyu Novus is 44 Crit, 31 Det, which caps both stats @ i80 lvl and nets you 2 additional Crit over Book of Spades (this is true of further upgrades too). I'm not exactly sure how a triple statted Relic translates to FL -- these could potentially be BiS.

This particular example is off. The difference between i100 and i100 accessories and belt is +2 Most/+0 Det. Just cross-reference with any existing i110 accessories to see a Det low roll is 9 not 10. e.g. Gloam Choker, High Allagan Choker of Healing, Judgment Ring of Casting, and so on.

I did not list them because of how variable they can be and because they have some of the longest autoattack delays, but will include that because of how limited the Summoner weapons are.

The Hellwolf Accessories were one of the main reasons we discovered how Morale and Ilevelsync worked and we discovered that all of the ones with Determination synced to +10 Det/+14 Other Secondary in i80 Frontlines.

High caps and low caps do not exist: Their is only a single max cap. The way most non-crafted Green and Blue gear is itemized is that they will have one stat at cap and a second at 2/3rds cap. You can see that this is true when you try to meld a HQ Crafted left side piece: One secondary can be melded higher while the other cannot be.

I believe Accuracy is need for range combatants only. A level 50 character should be able to hit another lvl 50 character without need of increased accuracy. I know I go full crit/det/spellspeed on my BLK and do not miss spells, only time I have noticed is featherfoot. Again, it's easy to tell seeing none of the wolf mark gear contains increased accuracy.

I've had unaccounted for misses at 380 accuracy as a tank. Was pursuing a WHM when the most notable miss occurred. I wasn't blinded, no Featherfoot (obviously), and Attunement wasn't used either. I cranked it up to 400 accuracy and haven't had an issue since. Has anyone else noticed anything like this? And anyone who has tested, what conditions did you test?

Sure it wasn't animation-interrupt or just missing the buff notice? I'm too low on my accuracy scaling right now to make an accurate guess as to where the limits are. As it is I'm just using food to make the difference for matches. However I have noticed that not all the appropriate Icons show up on my targets right as they're starting or ending due to possible lag issues.

Anyways even without optimal accuracy, misses are rare and are usually not game-changing due to compiled damage. Rarely in Slaughter am I caught into a duel and in Secure I'm more suited for my durability than offensive capability. Not sure if Melee DPS may want to take more notice though.

Cool. That does not work how I would have expected. The game doesn't remake the stats for the new ilvl, but tacks on additional stats because lol consistency. So any pve item @ i120 or above, and any pvp item @ i100 or above, will be capped on both stats @ i80.

Most will but not every i100 PvP item will do so. i100 PvP bodies and legs will be 1 point short on the "low" secondary unless the low secondary is Det.
