Regardless of the reason Slaughter seems to have killed PvP. It's Friday night and I've had one pop on Primal in close to 2 hours. :(
Interesting. I've had about 5 pops today on Primal. Had to stop for some S Ranks though. Also only queuing for Slaughter.
Sounds like someone is maelstrom and someone isn't.
I switched to the maelstrom before frontlines came out, and recently switched back. PvP queue times went from 1-2 hours to 5-10 minutes, and I got to use those 50k seals on some moonstones.
I am Maelstrom. And will never change from Maelstrom. Queue times aren't really that bad, to be honest and it's not worth having to play for the other GCs for 'better queues'. I MIGHT swap to Ishgard's GC if everyone else follows suit though, lol.
We were just discussing this in my Linkshell, which being Primal Adders does not have long queues normally. I have wasted so much time sitting in queue for nothing, because one or more persons in queue ran out of time from waiting. In what way does it make sense to sit around waiting for an hour or more, for < 15 min of game time. I totally said this would happen months ago when the term Frontlines Roulette came out and in this case I'm sorry to have been right. I said if the other queueing issues were not fixed, we were just going to have to wait that much longer.
Right now I'm sitting in queue with another party member, waiting for the stupid match to start so I can finish it, turn this game off and play one that doesn't unapologetically waste my time. I'd like to see any other game add content where people have to regularly sit and wait so long to play it, even if killing time doing filler content. SE is lucky to have a loyal fan base willing to put up with this for now. I don't feel like crafting or running beast tribe quests right now. I feel like shutting this game off but I can't even do that without blowing other people in my party out of DF and I don't want to do that to them, like me they've had enough of their time wasted already.
I'v been having major que issues the past 2 days on primal adders. Ques are 30min+ whether i'm solo, light party, or full party. Something is going on...... ques use to be 5-10 mins max. I beleive it is an adders issue because adders have been completely dominating the last couple weeks. It seems we have an influx of adders which is increasing que time. Sadly the influx of new players are making us lose more now as well. It is a lose/lose situation. They need to remove the restriction and allow people to swap GCs w/o any wait time or dare I say it.... remove the GC restriction :(. However the latter would really upset me and not fit with the current model. The BEST solution is to remove the restriction to swap GCs. I'm not against ranking up again but I am against swapping and not being able to swap back on a whim without having to wait.
I wouldn't mind them removing the GC restriction. Narrative wise the whole explanation of PvP for training adventurers or w/e is a pretty weak backstory with no real incentive for PVE players to jump in. I'd rather they just tear it down and make it anew as part of Gold Saucer like 7s Battle Arena.
last 3 days its been 3 plus hours wait times for my que to pop i just gave up and logged off... kinda of a waste of time ..
A lot of people swapped to Adders just before the patch... not entirely sure why, but that was the case for some top Flames and a teeny amount of Storm players on Leviathan. Some of them are switching again in a few days since their restriction is up though.
I will say that requeuing after about 30 minutes helps a lot and to keep track of who gets in when so you can snipe in progress.
Honestly the bigger issue isnt really GC, its more of when you que.
The que system is really broken, and it seems like the closer you que to the match the more likely you are to get in.
If you are super lucky you catch the train right as it happens, and as long as you que right after you get out you are likely to get in again.
If que times last over 10 minutes for you, restart the que.
Umm, i get what you are trying to say but the imbalance IS due to GCs. I like how its split GC vs GC vs GC but now that ques have really started becoming slow i'm seeing the issue. I'd rather have really fast ques than be completely tied to a GC. They should let you que for a specific GC.. and also show you who is in the que already.... that way you know what to que for to make it faster.
I don't really care about fast queues if I can stay with the Storm. We get queues about every other game even before when it was 'the "DPS" queue' for Storm so it's not really that bad... just the issue of premades not being able to do much but we get around that in our own way.
I've been adders on Primal for a while. It was 15-20 minutes even on a slow night until last night. I re-queued about every half hour for 3 hours. We got into 2 FL's and one was a 24 match.
It's possible there we are being held back by Flames not having enough people queuing?
Im with Immortal flames im suffering the long que times too
The queue's used to be so fast, last week in total I got 72 matches, this week was pretty bad and on decline every day, yesterday I queue'd most of the day and only got 3 matches of 24, pretty bad.
Something it DEFINITELY wrong with the que. I was just in a 72 man. I left and requed instantly for roulette with que in progress... someone else in the same game came out AFTER me and requed and got in before me. Someone else in my linkshell had been qued for 15 mins+ and also did not even get in. Something is definitely wrong. This que system does not favor fist come first serve. I dunno what the hell it does but its broken. SE need to fix this immediately. We are all primal adders... something is broken tho. FIX THIS SH`T SE.
I think it might still be rank matching even for frontlines? That's at least one explaination for it choosing a new person with very low rank over 2 high ranked veterans that have been in que longer.. ... the other is that we got put in a smaller que that didn't fill up.... which we have no way of knowing because it doesnt f-ing show us who else is waiting in the que or what type of game we are waiting for. i.e. 8v8v8 or 24v24v24 or if its secure... or slaughter... it hides a lot of very important information that the player should be allowed to see to make a more informed decision if that is something they want to wait for or not. PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS SE.
This is it. Indeed, but it's not new to this recent patch. Frontline I've always gotten a pop faster if I constantly cancel and requeue the DF.
My guess is the query protocols are throwing players into dead match setups, say it'll begin forming two separate instances, some poor folks will get stuck in one that is never going to fill (or at least will fill at a much lower rate due) because the other is registering as higher priority. I always cancel > requeue after 10min or so if it's prime time hours.
Yea I think sometimes there's a queue where it's been up for so long that people that have waited 1h drop out, then new people come in, but then 10min later the people who have waited 50min drop out, then some new people come in and the people at 40min drop out, etc. So it forms like a cycle of people dropping out and coming in.
But I think it's lost critical mass, and I've started to queue less and less.
I just leave the queue on while I level dragoon/gather/craft.
It doesn't seem so bad... I get at least one pop every 20-30 minutes without dropping it.
Something I've wondered.... is part of the slowness due not to the lack of being matched up with enough people across all GC's, but due to the availability of enough Instances. What I've noticed queuing for dungeons is it will fill up the party- tank/healer/DPS at 1/1,1/1,2/2- and say Waiting for Instance for quite a bit longer than I'm used to. And I can't help but think the reason is because of all the bots standing around the Uldah Aethyrte I see queued up popping in and out of instance constantly. So in addition to bots causing QoL issues in so many other regards (RMT and running an uninterrupted spiritbond farm using the same characters in North Shroud for over a year now) they're taking up our instances. I don't know if PVP shares server capacity for instances with dungeons, but if it does that's part of the problem.
One way or another, I don't think there seems to be enough instance capacity. You can't tell me that in the evenings it takes over half an hour to find enough people across all GC's, across all worlds in a data center, to kick off even an 8/8/8 instance.
I haven't so much as seen any kind of acknowledgement from SE that the queue times are considered as a problem, but when it's my time being wasted I do consider that as a problem. I can't imagine a more effective way of killing off PVP than what the current state of things has brought us to.
PvP was somewhat alive last night. It was nice. Thank you for coming back.
I've never done Frontlines because of these queue times, I don't have the time to waste waiting to try something when there is lots of other duty finder stuff I could be queuing for. I remember back in FFXI when they had Ballista, it was "Grand company" restricted where there would be a battle between 2 of the 3 main cities, and anyone from the third would be auto sorted into both to balance the teams numbers out, if there was an imbalance of too many on one side it would shuffle a few over to make the numbers even, why can't they do that here, just shuffle some of the Maelstrom to the Flames after 10 minutes and start the battle instead of waiting over 2 hours for your turn to come around.
i tried several times, even the daily, and i had qs up to 3 hrs (i forgot i was even DFing, since i was working etc.)
before it was around 10-20 min depending on the time of day.
first thing that really keeps ppl and also me from trying
- i have almost a full 110 set for my whm, still im lvl 30 so i cannot equip it.
( i do like pvp but i dont need to get rewarded when gear is way outdated)
- i was hoping the new pvp daily would give pvp points to progress faster, also i hoped for a bit more points to rank up faster. - i mean you can gear a character to 130 faster + relic in the time you get your pvp lvl so you can wear 110 only....
(that is due to wait times mostly) but what do we get? poetics and soldiery? ---- esp. poetics are capped on day one or 2 usually (not even playing a lot) and poetics come fast with everything else. WHY?
most games i played with pvp content reward the players accordingly or at least on par (or just slightly less) with endgame pve players. in ARR we still are at ilvl 110 and the lvling process takes just way too long. i dont wanna play for weeks just to get 44 and buy outdated gear.
- i wouldnt mind a longer grind if the game was slower but we get new i lvls so fast that it just doesnt fit to the pace of the rest of the game at all.
Aether was lively all this weekend. There were portions of time that I got instant queues. Other times, the wait could be as long as a half hour.
I do two things that, when solo, I do to help my queue times.
First, I hit up Roulette, that lets me fill both Secure and Slaughter if they are available.
Second 'Join in Progress' lets me jump into matches that are less than five minutes old and help fill slots there.
These two choices get me in quickly.
If I'm going with more than myself, I just queue Savage - that's the most popular mode right now.
5 hrs of actively trying to get a match, result 0. I quit pvp.
