Sooooo.....Primal Summoning.

So near the beginning of 2.0, Yoshi said that we'd eventually be getting the ability to have our FCs summon Primals. Well, we're nearing the end of the 2.x era and moving on to 3.x this year, with no primal summoning.

I'm sure no one wants to hear about WoW and what they've done, but they've taken that idea and already applied it. The idea Yoshi had was taken and applied elsewhere before we could even see it.

They definitely set the foundation for this.

Sounds like a re-skinned hunt, and we know how great those are.

The thing with phoenix? Yea, I can see how it could eventually play to that. Also with Shiva, and Enkidu. It would be an awesome system if we actually had it. 1 of 6 primals (Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Ramuh, Leviathan, Shiva) summoned into the world via an FC. The power/hp of the primal scales with the number of people coming in to kill it. It scales up to set max values.

I think they abandoned plans for this after the zerg fest that was hunts and still is hunts.

from what i remember GC summons are not going to be like that they are a 1 time summon to help in battle then they go back into world so others can fight and capture it but not sure on full details

They never expanded on the details, so it was probably just some bullet point on their idea table that everyone liked but no one could figure out what to do with.
They're adding airship building in 3.0. They'll probably see how that goes and build from there.

If you run the benchmark you can see players fighting Ifrit in the open in Thanalan, so they definitely had plans for this. My guess now is they've scrapped the idea along with a lot of other things they used to sell 2.0 to us and never followed through on.

I think SE will just make the 6 primals from 2.0 Summoner Pets in Heavensward

I believe they said they were still working on it... And with Auracite I think we're getting to the lore part of how it would be possible at all to capture a roaming primal.

Lady Iceheart story explains how solo summoning is possible and T12 explains how channeling a summon is possible. Lady Iceheart called upon the essence of Shiva transforming herself into the Primal while Louisoix used a special staff that channeled a massive amount of Aether and transformed himself into Phoenix creating a new Primal. Lady Iceheart refers to an ability that Summoners will get since they already have primal essences which they used to create the Egis they will gain the ability to transform themselves into the Primals.

Kinda off topic question. Do the smmons (Faeries and Primals) scale to your race? are they smaller for Lala's and bigger for Elvaan?

It's fun and addictive for such a random little thing lol

It could also be that the servers at this moment are not able to support the primals in the open-world. Right now, alot of players are having issues where hunts and fate bosses wont show up on their screen, until this is fixed, I reckon we will not see the primals wandering around.

What's be the point of FC primal summoning be though? It cant be used in FL and hunts already die fast enough already. Unless they make S-A hunts have alot more HP/def then this isn't needed i think
