All this Casino nonsense is getting boring

Seriously Casino spammers are almost as bad as RMT bots i can't go anywhere anymore without people trying to horde gil by gambling and sending spam in shout. We are getting GS soon which some people decided will be a Casino for gambling so they made their own? I don't get it. I'm pretty sure it's against all sorts of ToS rules and the spam is annoying. I wish the /random thing was never introduced because it seems to serve no purpose except trying to scam the server out of gil and annoy people like an RMT spammer. Also wouldn't be surprised if some of the people doing this are RMT sellers hording gil to sell. Rumors seem to say as much.

While I also consider casino shouts an annoyance, people will label anyone making money as RMT.

I only see the shouts in Revnant's Toll so far. Since I don't spend much time there due to the performance hit this has never been a problem for me. Seriously though if it's annoying then Blist people. You have tools available to you, and if the problem is your list is full due to RMT spam then rest assured you can probably delete every single one of them with no ill effects. Those accounts are always shutdown or abandoned very quickly and they never return after a few days.

They probably already did. Super fast way to make Gil and it seems like it's been legalised so they don't have to worry about bans like with their bot accounts. Suppose i'll just have to make my black list a lot bigger and forget about it.

? I guess it's because I spend the majority of my time outside of heavily populated areas, but I've yet to see one of these old school FFXI-era things. Even for the short time I spend in areas like Mor Dhona, I haven't seen any yet. All things considered though, they're probably doing this heavily due to the fact that the Gold Saucer is coming soon, so the potential suckers are likely to change over (even though you're probably not going to make any huge potential earnings there). Would be pretty "funny" if they end up setting up shop in that area after it opens. It'd be like going to Vegas and seeing one of those cliche street corner scammers setting up a folding table with paper cups and a ball inside of a casino itself. I wonder if there could be some sort of terms violation exclusive to the Gold Saucer that can be implemented lol. It'd feel right to have measures in place since that place is much more of a place of professional business as any other location in the game.

That's what your blacklist is for. Not sure what the issue is, even if they are annoying.

Honestly, I didn't even know it was much of a thing, but I might have shout turned off. I can't remember. :p

It is annoying, but at the same time, it is also considered legal. So yeah. Blacklisting is the way to go here to avoid spamming.

How would it be against ToS? It's using ingame money to get ingame money.

I haven't seen a single shout about this, then again I avoid Mor Dhona if at all possible.

It's supposed to have a gambling-like aspect to it. While you won't be able to win gil with it, as it's been said that GS will use a currency that cannot be converted back into gil, I'm sure that the Saucer will have some very tempting exclusives that can't be obtained elsewhere and a few that will be extremely difficult to win.

The effect will be like a "steam sale" for your in-game wallet, I'm sure, come 2.5 patch #2 nobody will have the money to play the player-run casinos anymore. Gil vacuum machine, activate!

So if the GS doesnt make you any Gil, how would that run Player Casino's out of business? Im confused by your logic. people play casino's at a chance to win some gil.

That and they can offer up odds or spreads. Doubt the GS will, its either you win or lose no getting close.

Be very careful about labeling and generalizations though. Only reason I mention this is because we just hosted on Coeurl a server wide lottery and while most of the feedback was positive. Leading up to the actual event I got a lot of hate messages about my mother,accusations of scam,general troll messages, and people telling me to go #$%& off.

While I understand that some people are hosting these /roll casinos - not everyone out there is doing the same thing even if it may look like it at first glance. We didn't make 1 gil from the event and brought a lot of people together.

I just wish there were a way to separate the blacklisted RMT from the players. That way I could just block spammers of any kind and keep them b-listed.

And I don't know what they are talking about with that casino thing in random >_>

That's interesting... I have literally seen 0 shouts or PFs doing anything of the sort on my server. Weird how different things can be server to server.
