Is there a reason why our CDs need to be reset out in the field?

So now that being in a sanctuary out in the world allows us the freedom to change jobs without losing our cooldowns, is there a reason why it can't be like that everywhere? Are there circumstances that people can think of where this could present imbalances? I honestly can't think of any. Don't get me wrong, it's A LOT better now than it was previously, but I'd still like to be able to switch anywhere without having to wait for my abilities to rotate.

I would like to see cooldowns reset after a wipe first to be honest. Especially in raids.

Whm - used shroud and benediction ( everyone dies ) gg respawn -> cries slowly cuz their saving grace skills are on CD still even tho it's a fresh run. Why SE didn't add this in yet? I'll never know.
Also i agree tht they should take the gcd off when u switch in the fields.
Being out of battle should be enough for limitations on when you can switch classes. But waiting for ur gcd to go off cd when you have successfully switched classes already just makes no good common sense for me. All i can think of is it'll allow ppl to jump back into fights faster as different jobs.

1000% yes
Currently working thru FCOB with my static, and our best run is quite often our first of the evening. Because every run thereafter any combination of people have certain moves on GCD. Bene, hallowed and to lesser extent raging and quelling, plus all pots, just irritating more than anything. we don't have time to wait 8 mins or whatever between each wipe, so every run after the first at least one of the team is going in jipped

Here is the imbalance

Pick up mobs -> "Hallowed Ground", "Sentinel" -> EZ kill the mobs -> switch and comeback to PLD, go to next mob (Like 2 sec. to do) -> "Hallowed Ground", "Sentinel", other CD available again -> EZ kill the mobs -> ..... indefinitly ?? don't think that's a good idea

Edit : I take the PLD example cause i am one but i'm sure there would be other exploit like that with other classes CD like damage up or other things

If CDs reset after every wipe in a raid, world first and server firsts would come much faster than they do already because I'm sure those groups wait for every offensive CD after each wipe. That being said, I suppose that has absolutely no relevance at this point or even after the first month or so that the raid is released. I think this should be changed in the odd patch (2.1, 2.3, 2.5, etc.) at the very least.

Cooldowns that are used stay on cooldown even if you switch in a sanctuary. I'm not advocating that they change that. The only change should be to expand the behavior that is already in place from sanctuaries to the field itself.

The devs spoke up about it in the Las Vegas fan fest, saying that it's for balancing purposes; someone could go in a FATE or hunt, burn all their cooldowns, get out and swap jobs, swap back again, and effectively do this over and over again to trivialize the difficulty. I think they were speaking in a general sense rather than for specific instances.

CD reset on 8 man raid wipe prz.

Well most Hunts lately are dead before you burn all CDs XD Also, what difficulty? ^_^ Switch jobs, lose all contribution, sorted! :P

Give people an inch and they want the whole mile. Other then a CD reset after wiping in a raid we don't need anymore.

I think you overestimate how much time is saved. 1 minute here, 30 seconds there, 2 minutes here. Might knock these people back a day at most.
