Request - Smart Loot System for Raiding

I'd like to see a system implemented (for raids where there is a loot lockout) that would analyze the classes in a party and drop gear that can be used by members of that party.

Diablo 3 did something similar to this and the system worked quite well!

It's frustrating running World of Darkness and never seeing gear drop for members in your group. Especially if you have a 1 week loot lockout.

It's their way of keeping people going back to WoD. If people get their loot right away what is the incentive for them to keep going?

True, true but a bias percentage climber would be a happy medium. What would a reasonable expectation be? Say two runs per day, thus, if you exceed 14 runs in a week, the chance of your gear dropping should increase significantly. But, RNGesus is so much easier to code and nothing will change.

2 runs a day is quite a stretch all in itself. I could use lots of gear from WoD but will only do 1-2 runs a week. I would honestly prefer if there was no lockout. The lockout is the root of the problem. By the time I get the gear I want. I will already have enough Poetics to buy my respective pieces.

Here is another way to think about it. Poetic tomestones have been out for over 2 months. A lot of people are already rockin i120 in almost every slot. WoD is just helping people catch up or glamour which I firmly believe is silly. So why a lockout?

Please don't say "But Glamour". I will bang my head against my desk.

2.4 added gear of Scouting. Who knows how many more types of gearsets will be added in the future. I'm pretty sure Dark Knight and Astrologan will use Fending and Healing respectively. But what about Machinist? Are they going to add another? Share it with Aiming? Who knows?

Currently we have:
Fending
Healing
Casting
Striking
Maiming
Aiming
Scouting

The more sets added to the game, the more possible loots per chest and a reduced chance of getting the item you want. Something needs to be done and fast!

Edit: I would be fine with a token system that 2.4's dungeons used. Sure you might have more people rolling against you, but at least nothing hits the floor.

Or it could be the stats. Bard Magitek Chest is utter garbage (Skill Speed/Accuracy), but the WoD Chest is a direct upgrade to the Auroral one. Crit/Det, ballin\\'.

With the current system I too can only bring myself to do 1-2 runs a week. I don\\'t intend to farm that tedious road in hopes of a one gear piece I need among dozens, most likely to compete it with another Bard. I think a dungeon token system would be needed, as I\\'ve hears of people completing it 30+ times in the course of a week trying to get a specigic drop. Complete WoD=1 token. Specific piece of gear dropping? Np, you can at least work towards it by collecting tokens.

Not good enough. This would simply be a band-aid fix for a loot system that's fundamentally broken. Token system or bust, it's that simple. Duplicates for classes you have are just as much a waste of your time and effort as drops for classes you don't have.

Everyone can be all Jobs. The idea to change the loot drops depending on peoples' Jobs in party isn't helpful, if you need to be on one Job or one Job is higher geared than others, how do you gear up your other Jobs?

The loot system isn't the problem. OP why don't you have more than one Job?

I feel that they should at least change some percentages around depending on party makeup. It's more than an annoyance because people are trying to gear their mains at first in WoD with pieces that are suited for their usual classes which they play for the most part so they can roll Need on the item. If a party is basically all casters and ninjas... but all that you see are maiming items... something is wrong since basically everything that drops will end up unclaimed. :(

In all honesty though there's no real problem here. Some loot drops, some doesn't. It happens. Personally I hate the idea of ONLY the loot in the party's classes drop and I usually use these places to get my pre-50 alts. My lvl 32 Ninja can't run WoD for his scouting gear and my PLD's iLvl of 103 is simply cutting it too close. So my 113 DRG main is what I use to gear every thing else up. And it had over half the poetics gear pre WoD. So it certainly doesn't need the gear (Though the Demon Gauntlets of Maiming did have better stats at the time so I do have those).

The loot system is working just as intended. Yoshida said back at launch that primal and raid drops would actually have a higher chance of being a class that WASN'T on the team at all. But that idea didn't make it into the final draft.

And the same with No Nin in party and all Scouting stuff. 2 runs, one may understand...maybe even 3. But when your runs hit the double digits in a single day, EVERY day, and it's the same, there's nothing random about it. Other than random piece of Scouting gear to go to waste. I call bullshit on SE for this. It's getting old. You say people won't run the dungeon if they get their loot? What do you think will happen if shit like this continues? People won't give a damn about loot nor the dungeon, because there's no point. A lot of people I play with are getting that way now, myself included.

Loot should drop that is applicable to the people in the group. Otherwise, you got people going in on their mains just to shop for their lesser-statted alts.

Also, I don't understand why the dev team thought to have loot drop after every sub-boss. It only encourages players to drop group early if their desired piece fails to drop. The main loot should ALL drop only after the final boss goes down. If they had done that from launch, then maybe they wouldn't have had to add extra functionality to imposing the lame-ass 30min lockout penalty (which by the way, is another band-aid topic for a larger core design problem with the DF/PF itself).

It's sad that the toxic community ruins the raids for people like me. The dungeons are fun but the players... not so much.

Heck since game release I would have never minded if you could only roll on gear for the class/job you are currently playing. As it stands now, just run it however many times per week you can stand, and when you only have 1 or 2 more runs left in you just greed everything until you get SOME drop so the week is not wasted. Save it for an alt you already have or will have. Then, you no longer have to get any lesser level 50 gear for that one job for that one gear slot.
