Why does it have to link every single item in the chat?

Why?

I send my retainer out, it links venture in the chat.
I gather Water cluster, it links cluster 5 times in the chat.
I feed my chocobo O'homoro berries, it links berries in the chat 20 times...
I craft Silver brocade, it links every single item that was used for synthesis and brocade itself in the chat every single time...

I do not need all of this link spam, tywm >.<

Edit for those who do not read past first post:

In my chat I want to see what I do. What I do not want is pop up boxes hovering over my text and preventing me seeing it. And I do not want to turn them ALL off, since then I will not be getting any pop ups that I want to see (ie items linked by other people).

It is not silly. It would not let me see chat when I scroll through it because stupid popups cover it all...

you can change what the chat displays in your chat message options tho (the little gear next to your general/event/etc tabs).

You can only turn of ALL pop up boxes, but I do not want to do that. I still what to see what people link for me, also dungeon drops. And all these items (crafted / gathered / used) being linked by themselves have absolutely no reason to be there..

That's not quite what Tenshi was getting at. You can choose what to see and what not to see. You can turn your crafting stuffs off as well as all others, etc. The links are here to stay though, so we either have to deal with it or adjust things to "not" see them.

I totally agree.
These notifications are there because some people get very absentminded and forget they did them in the first place. You can turn them off.

You have a total of 4 tabs. Each tab you can configure entirely to how you desire them to be. Not everything has to be in just the one tab ^^

Configuring the tabs does not change the fact that pop up will cover whole chat box for the tab that contains the links. Is it so difficult to understand that text lines do not bother me, in fact, I want to see them (even if in separate tabs). The problem is I can not see the text lines since pop up cover them.

Have you moved where the pop up boxes appear on your screen? You can move them around so that they won't cover your chat box.

I think I understand what you're trying to say. You want a way to turn off links for a 'outgoing' items but keep them for 'incoming' items. That makes sense. I don't see why we can't have an option for this.

In the mean time I'd suggest looking through your HUD and seeing if there's an option to chance where the popups appear, maybe there's a way to keep them from covering your text.

Can you not change your chat log settings to fix this?

The guy that's complaining over the "wait" option on commence, teleport, etc is far sillier.

Oh yea. Go into your HUD option, to rearrange it, move your pop up boxes to where you would like them to pop. BAM! Out of the way. Another possible solution is to go into your options and set them to Fixed. So no matter what they pop in the same place.

Maybe that would help?

I love all my popups and have no trouble navigating my logs. (mouse+kb user)

have you tried changing the size of your chat log window?

OP: If I understand you do want the items to pop, but their description when hovering over hide the chat log and that bothers you.

I had the same problem with skills, their description hid other skills while hovering on them, you fix it by going to options and ticking the Tooltip Box > Fixed Option, that will put every tooltip description in the same spot. Makes life much easier. You can pick the spot but editing the UI on the UI placement grid thing.

I'm not at home so can't walk you through the options menu but it shouldn't be hard to find...

there is a setting in the "character configuration" that will set the item pop up window to only apper there (or where ever you put it) instead of popping up where your mouse is.

I don't understand why before when it listed them in plain text wasn't a problem, and now the slight bit more of embellishment on the text is suddenly a problem. It's the same amount of lines.
