Will 1.19's Airships use the docking points in the fields?

As per the subject, really.

From what I could tell, the information given about the airship system we'll be getting come patch 1.19 makes it clear that airships will run between cities.

However, scattered throughout Eorzea are what seem, to me, to rather obviously be airship landing platforms.

It would be so useful if they were used as well, and I do hope that's the plan..

Any hope of some clarification there?

Maybe there will be a inter-city flight schedule + a local flight schedule.

Hopefully they can get enough done to include that too.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope they add that too, though those docks may be for something else. We will have chocobos then.

god imagine if there were stops along the way between citys, fights would take forever! if that is the case I hope the airships are huge! with shops and crafting facilitys, infact I want that anyway. they also need to do something with the ferry as its rather un-imaginative. In XI you could go below deck and it had a little shop but in XIV nothing... just a floating piece of wood.

That would be wonderful..

Though I suspect intra-city airships as are being asked about here would sooner be on separate flight paths, with others going between cities. But still that would be absolutely amazing and I'd love it to bits.

I'm pretty sure Ragnarök Online intended to do the same; the airship there has a below-deck casino. Buut.. their server's location has laws against gambling or something and they had to pull the mini game from the international release, I think >.>

it would be cool if the airships were like flying gold saucers from VII although that will never happen, we can dream right? On a side note they should add a huge entertainment complex like the GS with chocobo racing and mini games for people to take part in. Not sure how they would manage it in an MMO but it would be awesome!

I wouldn't be so sure. Oh I'd like to believe it (just like I liked to believe we'd actually travel on the airships, not get a cutscene-glorified teleporter), but whether they make use of them in the future, being as they haven't at this point, will likely depend entirely on whether they leave the platforms in post-environment rework.

Still, at this point I get to also hope that sooner or later, they'll add 'proper' airship voyages, with accompanying content and all.

And not just quietly delete the sea voyage bit from the Limsa Lomina<>Ul'dah ferry.

A tad disappointing. I was hoping to see flying birds, and doing fights up in the air.
