Multiple Class/Job/Role Selection.

hello. i think it would be a good idea to allow us to choose multiple jobs to queue with. at the very least i think it is a good idea to allow it on them 24-man raids.

Agreed! It would absolutely help the que times if we were able to que as all classes which we want to play, and then the system picks whats needed the most!

Umm, this wouldn't really change anything. Sure it might help with getting healers/tanks, of DPS mains decide to queue as a healer or a tank, into dungeons but I'm pretty sure most people would just be queuing up as DPS. It won't change anything for those of us who are already Healers and Tanks, if we queue up as DPS + Healer/Tank we'll just be going in as Healer/Tank as per uge (you just wouldn't know which until you get in, if you are queued up as multiple). DPS will either become Healer/Tank mains (which most would hate, so they just wouldn't queue as a healer or a tank), or will just be a different DPS from time to time.

I would like an explanation on why this is needed, at all, or how it will help with queue times.

If I queue as a dps, it probably means I want to Need something from that run as that particular dps.

I'd like it if I could, say, queue as a healer for AK HM, a Tank for WoD, and a DPS for another dungeon. Like mentioned before, let the system give me what pops up first.

It would help with the queue times a lot actually. It takes me longer to get into ST or WoD as a tank than it does as a dps. If I am just looking for a clear. I can queue as healer, tank, or dps and like someone else said. It would tell me which class that i need to be to get in.

the more people who use the feature, the more effective it will become. it's not really an improvement if only a single person uses it. if you don't care about what role/job you play, then these people will use the feature. it will be able to form groups quicker simply because of the larger batch of classes/jobs to choose from. but again, there will have to be enough people waiting in the pool that use the feature for it to actually be effective. at the very least it will help improve match-up compatibility. what i mean is like WHM+PLD, or SCH+WAR. and maybe even reduce seeing an alliance with like 4 freaking casters.

VanilleFang makes a good point, though. but only if there isn't enough people using the feature. if enough people use it, it will benefit even those who don't use it. and even if there isn't enough people, i still don't think any harm could from it. could it ever become at all detrimental to the queue pool?

will enough people use this to make it effective? i don't know. all-in-all i don't think it could hurt things any.

For one person it would help, if you are only looking to clear, because you would get in with whatever role is needed. In a situation where everyone did this then, yes, it would help queue times if everyone queued as a healer, a tank and a DPS for only one dungeon. But that's in a perfect world where everyone is not only willing to that, but are also able to do that (as in, has a tank, a DPS, and a helaer high enough).

Choosing different dungeons for different roles wouldn't help, and choosing only two roles, or two classes in the same role, wouldn't help either.

Again this is only if you are looking for a clear, and most people are looking for more than a clear.

So in the end, it really wouldn't help with queue times. Because if people are looking to just clear something, then why don't we have more tanks and healers going into dungeons? Just because you give people the ability to queue as different roles doesn't mean they will actually use it. Most people probably wouldn't because they play as what they like and play it as much as possible.

Again, just because someone could queue as a DPS, a Tank, and a Healer does not mean they would. Otherwise people would be running currently as whatis quickest instead of waiting when all they want to do is clear for tomes, sands, etc.

Or say you could que as a certain class but have an option to que for what type of gear you wish to role.

So I end being selected to go as a healer but I'm geared up already so I want to get gear for my tank or DPS class. That would make things better.

it could also help an in-progress instance find new members quicker.

Think about it this way. I am farming for a zodiac item. I want to get in as quickly as possible to one of the dungeons. If I queue up as a healer/tank/dps for those dungeons. I won't be competing for a tank spot with another tank that may already be in the queue. Only roulettes will tell you what is in demand and that is not even a guarantee. Trials say Tanks are needed but I queue faster as a dps. The whole system is unreliable on what is the fastest to get in.

From the people I play with, they have a preference but if they are just looking to get in then they will go as any class. Seeing how I have leveled every class but nin, I will go on any of them. But right now the game is forcing me to have a preference. Personally I don't want to be a blm with a bunch of other blm's when there is no melee.

While it won't benefit people who only have a role leveled it will benefit those with multiple roles.

Also how can you be looking for more than a clear. A clear means loot drops, etc. Sands, oils, UATs, etc drop equally for all roles/jobs. Yeah you get loot specific people but not every player is one of those.

Obviously this whole debate is a matter of pessimism and optimism. You are the pessimist that believes that no change to queue times will actually occur. I am the optimist that believes things can improve.
