I was just noticing, I havent seen anything but human children in the game, Where are the baby Lalafels? The baby Roegadyn?
I got to thinking how cute/creepy babies would look from some of these races.

star onion brigade ftw. children in FFXIV or riot.
They are in the game, but hidden behind the rooms where it's written "No Entry", it's too dangerous for them to be outside with all the monsters and the crazy adventurers !
New Gridania does have a playground, behind the Woodworking guild, but they'd probably be in the "residential" area that we can't go into behind the Lancers guild. No idea where they'd be in Limsa or Ul'dah. Probably drowned in Lim, and kidnapped and sold as slaves in Ul'dah
The reason there are currently only hyur and elezen children in the game is probably because ARR reused a lot of assets from FFXIV version 1.0, and that version specifically had hyur and elezen children in cutscenes for the parts of the storyline (particularly the Gridanian storyline and parts of the Ul'dah story). As 1.0 was notoriously unfinished when it was released, the original development team probably just never got around to making character models of children of other races.
However, I remember that the current development team did confirm at the Fanfest that children of other races do in fact exist, and that future updates will be adding new character models of these children into the game.
It should be noted that there are several instances already in both version 1.0 and ARR where lalafell children are actually shown though - they just have 'adult' lalafell bodies (the only way they're even known they actually are kids is their nameplates identify them as such), meaning that lalafell do not seem to show any outward signs of aging, even less than their tarautaru cousins in FFXI did:

Plus, there have been several scenes recently in ARR where babies in the arms of their mothers have been seen as well (I'll have to dig the screenshots for these particular scenes out though so it might take a bit before I can show them here) - one was during the patch 2.3 main scenario, and another was during one of the recent Postmoogle quests. So yeah, little kids of all races definitely do exist in Eorzea!when Minfilia explains about the cycle of life at the Rising Stones

if your a boy.
You helped calm a baby's crying during Christmas.
The only ones I've ever seen have been either hyur or elezen, but I remember them saying in the fanfest stream that there are kids around, and there may be more child npc's and cutscenes with them added into the game eventually.
I'd really like to see child models of the other races as well. It's super weird and creepy when they talk to a full grown lalafell as if its a child character.
the game doesn't even have houses for villagers. only buildings of organizations. the residential districts are for us adventurers but there's no place for civilians to live.
It is all the houses with the "No Entry" doors.
And yes, more children pictures ^^

They're all in WoD trying to get that brd body piece
I remember that being said too. Right now we have Hyur and Elezan children, the only distinguishing feature of the Elezan being the ears. If Ul'dah is your starting city, you see Lalafell children, but again, they apparently use the same models as adults.
In Heavensward, Roegadyn and Miqo'te children were mentioned specifically to be added, but probably Au Ra, too.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing a more obvious difference between Hyuran and Elezan children, becuase, if Alphinaud is any idication, Elezan must shoot up like weeds during their late teens, early 20s, otherwise that kid and his sister are TINY.
Wait, Lalafell aren't babies? :o
It was mentioned in the Tales from the Calamity segment about them that they were 16 or so when they left Sharlayan for Eorzea
For something a bit more exact, it also mentions that in 1562 of the Sixth Astral Era when Sharlayan was evacuated they were less than one summer old.
The villagers live in a specific area! I am one that likes to explore every corner of the cities and one day found out this:

I'd be super-happy if the Star Onion Brigade turned up.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who was concerned about the lack of children of other races. I've been worried that they were going extinct.
i dunno, i think im pretty content with the bare minimum amount of children in this game

There is a mother holding a baby NPC in one of the moogle delivery quests I think. I'm 100% sure there is but don't remember which quest it was on lol
I zoomed in to the baby though and it looked a bit creepy, like zombie baby D:
We got personal houses, we got married, so you know there is only one thing left for us right? Tell them Skyrim...

I have no lore to back this up, but considering our adventuring lives and the things we see, (I'm looking at you ARR opening) I am sure there are more then a few orphans running about.
There were way too many kids the residential districts asking for gifts during christmas, you adventurers need to be a little more responsible. Just because some of these FCs have 100s living in the same house doesn't mean you all need to make it like bunnies.
As for the lala children, I heard Teledji has a sweatshop somewhere near Ala Mhigo where they make jewelry and greaves.
Maybe they are trying to avoid child support cases with all the Eternal Bond divorce talk.

He ate them all, sorry none left.
Yeah, this is something that's bothered me, too, since I started playing. FFXI, there were kids all over the place, in every major town and also in most of the minor ones. Really gave a feeling that these places were HOMES. In FFXIV, the cities feel more like military outposts.
And it's not just the player races that are getting shortchanged here. The final set of Beast tribe quests involves children of all five of the beast tribe quest races - and with the exception of the Sylphs, all of their children looked like fully-grown adults, sized slightly down. (The Sylph children were just pods.) To be fair, though, beastman children is something that not even FFXI delved into all that much; the only one I can think of off-hand was the Qiqirn child who helps you raise animals in your Mog Garden - and he's a pretty recent addition.
Argh, don't get me started on this one. All three cities, and the only children you give gifts to are HYUR children! So unfair. Who knew Santa was such a bigot?
I guess my OP could have come off as a little creepy, sorry.
Show me the children...

I know there are younglings in the game already but I have only seen Human and Cat People kids. I was just curious how the Lalafels and Roegadyn look in comparison? Maybe all the Lala kids have been stepped on by the big Roegadyns. I know I'm worried every time I get in an instance with all Lala's when I play my Roegadyn.
Pretty sure Roegadyn are born fully grown.
In XI, the galka kids were the cutest, at least in my opinion.
We need baby roes.
