Please consider some tweaks to the map system.

The map system when was first implemented, was very popular due to how it scaled in difficulty and had appropriate rewards therein. Not to mention the ability to challenge hunt style mobs without being forced to wait for a spawn.

...Well, that golden age has come and gone, and now people are soloing peiste maps for stuff and there is no new tiers above to properly challenge (and reward) light and full parties.

I would greatly like to see, in Heavensward, some tweaks to the map system, either via new tiers of maps parallel to each new ilvl tier introduced in dungeons, or some sort of difficulty + reward scale-ability based on the size and ilvl of the player or party.

Thoughts?

that's what i expect new 50-60 hunts and maps.

If you have the gear for it, then why shouldn't you solo it? People getting together for maps have pretty much died out anyway, so good luck finding people willing to tag along with their own maps.

I don't know that I'd want to solo Alpha Chimera, but yeah I could probably solo other peisteskin map mobs. I wouldn't mind a higher drop rate for minions, though. I've been doing nothing but boarskin maps for months and have yet to see the tonberry.

I gotten a Tonberry maybe once or twice. Have yet to ever see the Bluebird drop.

You try solo'ing an Alpha Chimera, Alpha Coeurl or Alpha Basilisk.

I'm sure some could solo the Basilisk. It's so pathetically easy, even in a light party; no adds and easy to dodge AOEs.

With my Choco out in i122 NIN gear and food buffs I'd be very lucky to kill it before it kills me, and that's if I get lucky and avoid any damage crits.

I did it this morning on PLD in sword oath form no food, i120. Beat with 2:30 to spare. Yes, I had my free form choco out.

Edit: and anyways, alex maps trained me how to use 'tethers' so that add involvement is minimal.

How was that snark? You may have Solo'd a Basi but there's no way it's possible to solo an Alpha Coeurl with all the adds and just Chimera alone is impossible nevermind WITH the adds.

Then I guess it depends on the class, and the player skill. I never even attempted until I hear of a blm friend and a sch friend who both pulled it off on their own maps. Never say never.

I've managed to solo all Peisteskin maps besides the Alpha Chimera as a modestly geared Summoner (i110 weapon, average ilvl is something like 95) with my Rank 6 DPS Chocobo out. That said, I'll admit the Alpha Coeurl is one of the lengthier fights, I usually almost run out of time on it. Same with Alpha Tortoise. :P

It's always a matter of time. Many of them I can solo, and the ones I can't(one big mob followed by trash spawns) would be doable if I had a couple more minutes.

I was able to beat the basilisk as i106 WHM with choco out, but I had less than 10 seconds remaining when it died and was close to dead myself because I had to stop healing and focus on damage at the end just to make the timer.

The effort wasn't worth the payout, so I haven't tried any peistes since then.
