Why are colorblind people never taken into consideration?

Seriously, what is with these fights that have essential tasks that need to be done or face a potential wipe involve colors!?

How many threads pop up each time something like this happens and it's still an issue.

The new Wanderer's Palace 2nd boss with the totems. All the colors all look alike to me, because they are all the same hue.

This happened with Garuda with her adds. It happens with the Darnus fight in 2nd coil with the rock golems.

There are plenty others but you get my point. SE if your going to make fights use colors make sure they aren't the same shade. How hard is that, you have so many to choose from. Use Bright Yellow, Dark Blue, Bright red, dark green. Not all bright almost grey/white shades, don't use orange, and purple either.

Sounds rough. My only solution is you get somebody else to do the standards, and the golems. SomeBody usually marks the red add in ghm.

All the totems on the Second WP boss have a very distinctly different design based on the color... At least there was some effort made there.

But the rest of your examples are sound.

The golems have different bodies depending on what mode they're in.

As the above said, turn 9 golems are shaped differently (someone informed me of this after mentioning that I too am partially colorblind).
Blue = large spike on the back, red = spikes on the shoulders, green = no spikes at all.
My only complaint is that as a tank, the only defining feature of the green one is that it has no defining feature...

WP totems have a staff-like thing in it, pretty obvious shape. As for Garuda, it has been a while since I did the HM of it, but I thought that they changed the lines a while back: dotted and solid.

If anything, I give SE props for making it colorblind friendly, even if it may take a patch or so before they realize a new instance is difficult/annoying for us.

If it helps for the colourblind people, give them names, rather than colours :P

My group used to call them Quasimodo (blue), Lady Gaga (red) and Starvin' Marvin (Green)*

But there are a lot of other subtle hints out there aside from colours. Tethers in Garuda HM and EX, for example: One tether is thick and rugged while the other is thin and slick.

*It's called Starvin' Marvin because it usually has no meteors to eat.

I think you should not be so quick to judge SE on this one. They have come quite a long way in learning to cater to their hearing and sight impared audience. Certainly there is room for improvement but the effort put forth is clear. That said providing level headed insight is never a bad thing.

More often then not there have been multiple ways to identify the difference in mechanics in recent content, and most just miss them in the heat of the moment. Is it easier to identify stuff by color or hue sure, but at a certain point it becomes an us problem not an SE problem. Case in point, I was ready to flip a table in t12 unable to distingush a certain move against the floor. Go back with a cooler head and realize it has a different sound effect when it is targeting you as opposed to others.

Since first reading this post I have been trying to be more colorblind friendly when running color oriented mechanics (usually WPHM these days ) so I've been trying to name the shapes in it..
blue = staff - any way you look at it it's a classic mage staff.
Light blue/cyan = claw - the prongs turn up like a claw.
Green = trident - perhaps not the most proper description but it has 3 prongs close together so that describes it okay.
Red = fang? - I have been a little stumped on this as the downward prongs make me think of a palm tree for shape, but the color makes the comparison to teeth seem more apt...

They changed the color of ground AoE's and also Shiva's AoE, SPECIFICALLY for colorblind ppl.

Saying the colorblind are "never taken into consideration" is just flatout dishonest.

As someone who also suffers from mild color blindness i can relate to a lot of this. Though in WP hard I can the colors apart well enough. I thought blue was white though and purple was blue but I have since been corrected. XD

My biggest issue so far has been yellow comets and green ones. They look identical to me and I can't tell which is which. All I can do is look around and see if 2 other people are also marked. So all and all it works.

"Green comets" have no rings around then as opposed to the others. This is the case in any content I have seen them in so far. Yellow and red ones have spiked rings around their indicator.

A colorblind mode would be amazing. I myself don't suffer such a problem, sorry. Kind of like league of legends has that specific option to change your champ's HP bar from green to Yellow.

I am not color blind, but I do wish there was more customization for AoE indicators and such. I actually would like to turn down the opacity of AoE indicators. to me they are actually too bright/flashy and my eyes get irritated. I've turned off battle effects, turned down brightness and contrast on my monitor. It also really doesn't help that the markers that appear over our heads when we've been targeted for a fatal/near-fatal move looks almost exactly like the weapon glow effect on all atma/nexus/novius wepons... When everything is overly flashy and bright, nothing stands out.

yeah, every time ive attempted levi ex, ive had a lot of trouble discerning all this blue spam on the screen
can barely even see these fear puddles, and so much visual and audio spam on water ball thing that i cant find the side water tower thing before the watery line aoe

Maybe you can put it a little less accusatory? Maybe like say "hey SE can you make it so Colorblind people aren't at a disadvantage in fights that need you to distinguish colors?" People get tired of having fingers pointed at them.
