No problem during free trial and I never heard anyone complain about it.

Yeah, stop trying to get new players so the game can die off in a few years.

I can see no downside to free trials for the game, at all. Brings fresh faces and new players to the world. I can bet if you were a little interested in this game, or had never heard of it but knew about final fantasy, or never heard of final fantasy or an mmo at all but we\\'re looking for a new game to get stuck in to, you would be very glad to have a chance to give it a go.

Why? I don't even notice free trial days. I play on one of the highest pop servers, too. I'm PC player though, so if this is strictly a PS4 issue then I wouldn't know.

They're from cactuar, there's no login issues. And ps4 log in is the exact same as pc login, so where you'd have a queue to get in, so would we and vice versa. Most likely them complaining about the number of new players in their low level roulette or something.

Oh. This is a strange complaint then.

Cactuar is one of the most populated servers. I actually had to qeue for like 10 seconds the other day :D
People should just join other servers or something. Free trial is great and will make more people join the game and if they like it then they stay.

One of the most populated? You never read these do you? The ones where there is an X are the high populated servers. As far as I'm aware, I have never seen catuar on this list as having an X any time I have looked, thus it is *not* a highest populated server.

I am going to be totally frank here, and I'm sorry ahead of time if I offend anyone.
This is the stupidest use of an online petition I have ever seen that didn't involve someone's fetish. Free trials help breathe life into subscription based games by mitigating the risk of giving money to one.
Right now they're so restricted that they definitely cause fewer problems than any other player in the game. They can't even join FCs!
If anything we should talk about easing up some of the restrictions on free trial accounts!

OP do you want dead MMO? Because this is how you get dead MMO.
SE, please keep fishing for new players. My FC got over 30 new players recently and I believe it is mostly due to free trials. People are fed up with bad MMOs and many of them probably won't go into subscription based MMO without trying. :)

No thank you. I like how they are set right now. Making them easier would then mean RMT could possibly find bugs/flaws around using them for their activities. Its a trial after all. If they like the style of the game they will stay and sub :) There is enough RMT spam already heh

Given the servers have been the target of a DDoS in recent months, I fail to see why you're solely blaming new players. It's possible that an influx of newcomers is partially to blame, but I don't buy it myself. Besides... who the heck actually pays attention to an online petition? They're about as binding as a four year olds attempt at a double blood knot.

It's because the OP is from Chille and I guess experiences more lag on free player weekends <_< I don't support this petition and the only thing I can suggest is for the OP to subscribe to a service such as WTFast to improve their lag.

It's a little misleading...
Those are the servers that have a high population of active players. Not necessarily the servers with most characters on them (or even accounts if you consider that one account can have many characters).
That it's about active players can be inferred by how it's actually possible to create new characters there at "low activity" times.

Im a customer. As customer i want to feel always a good service. I paid my feed everymonth. All i want is a good service. If square want new players this must be enabled in new player worlds.

SE is not going to stop the free users it help SE get more players to pay for this game. Which end up making more money which make the game better. Also making all free users into there own world would end up making free users not play. They be like wow no one really playing this game.

I feel your lag issue is more due to the fact that you live in Chile and the servers are at Quebec Canada. Also could be bad ISP or a bad hub connection somewhere down the line in south or even that bad hub in USA that lag most USA users.

Your issue can be even your computer hardware not being strong enough to even play ffxiv. You did not give us a lot of information so i'm guessing it could be anything but free users is not one of them. My world is full all the time and i even have to wait in line for about 1-3m to even get in and i don't see lag anywhere in the game.

It been a long time that i free lag during a free weekend. I can agree on both side if people having lag issue who want to play a game they paid for but at the same time. I can deal with it so maybe more players return and make more money for SE.

Friends from Mexico and Costa Rica have the same problem. I dunno if Chile is the country with more players in FFXIV.

Need to get more than the existing 600k subs somehow and make the rest of those inactive subs from those 2.5+mil accounts created come back for at least another month if they're lucky. That's also why they moved around most of the money making stuff to the top on the Lodestone and why the trial is the top thing featured there, with unimportant stuff money wise was moved to the bottom like the Dev Blog and the fankits.

Lag is less about trials and more about the cheap servers they got at launch to cut costs, servers that haven't been upgraded since then aside from that one time shortly after release, despite the game being "successful" to afford better ones. Here's hoping they actually do something for Heavensward, especially because a lot of the lag issues are by design, i.e. invisible animation locks, HP increase and decrease operations taking almost a full second to process, etc.

Long story short OP, it's not going to happen.

Trial accounts are a good way to let people try the game that are curious but don't want to waste their money on something they don't enjoy.
MMOs constantly needs new players.

Even if the influx of trial players was causing the server to crash, the only thing that would be done would be decreasing the max logged in player limit on the servers. And if the queues to log in became a problem, they would open new servers.

But the last thing square-enix would do is turn away players.

I'm not sure I see a problem with this either. I would actually appreciate having new players on the game. Of course, I'm sort of one myself lol.

Mexico, Costa Rica, and Chile all have to pass through the same centers. There are some complicated issues with how the connections are routed to Canada (Level3 is...not well liked) that make even people who play on low pop servers in Chicago lag to hell.
Rather than filing a petition for something that could potentially KILL the game, make one to upgrade the servers and/or relocate the data centers.
The former is actually happening and will happen by heavensward according to the dev team, while the latter will likely never happen since moving a data center is akin to moving an office building.

Haha, glad to see there's only 1 supporter for this. If your lag is so bad that you want to exclude potential customers from the game, maybe you should invest in WTFast or a better internet connection.

Just want to mention that I know a few players from Uruguay... I don't hear any complaints about lag from them.
There is a free trial of WTFast that you can use to see if things get better for you.

When you say 'lag' do you mean constant framerate drop or like, "help i've frozen and can't move"? Because one is your computer, the other is your internet... when I'm on a terrible connection I get frozen all the time but due to my computer, I can really only get a steady 15fps... terrible, yes, but playable.

Is there still that thing where the free trial is the original 2.0 release so you'd need to update every patch before you can start the free trial? I've always been in the impression that it usually takes an extra 6 hours or so after the install, before you can actually play. If that's the case Id rather see the free trial install get updated for the current or previous patch block (x.0) just to reduce the install download time. Otherwise what is the issue about the free trial again?

Frozen dutys. My son play COD AW without problem. Same internet connection. Square must give preferential connecction to customers. I've checked with my ISP provider and all ok. This issues begin this Friday.
