Please Re-implement the AFK Timer Kick?

This is a suggestion but I am sure it is a one that hopefully many would agree with. The AFK timer kick, why was this removed and can we please have it back?

There are a lot of people in our server that just AFK for hours or even days, the maintainence being the only thing to boot them from the game. I know that the number of people online make the que times in the servers. If you could reimplement the time, maybe to take place after 10-15 minutes of inactivity it may help let others into the game without the long que time locking them out. Even dungeons have a 10 minute inactivity boot, I do not see why the rest of the game should be any different.

I agree with this 110%. I am honestly getting tired of having to wait 5 to 10 minutes to log into Balmung, and then logging in just to see a bunch of people sitting there AFK for hours on end. Its ridiculous, why should they be allowed to remain logged in when they're not even playing the game? It just makes it harder for people who are actually logging in to PLAY the game.

Right now, my FC has someone that isn't part of the FC, AFKing, and been afk for 25 hours in our house. Other games like lord of the rings online, had ways of removing people from the houses. Such as a right click and kick from house, or even a special permissions list, so if someone is afk griefing, the owner of the house can put their names into the list and take away all their permissions. Either way yeah AFK Timer should not of been removed.

Please bring this back. Its frustrating that there is a wait queue on a Wednesday morning. People shouldn't be able to log in and never log out. You're hurting actual active players.

Aye I also agree that the owner of the house/room should have the ability to be able to kick people from their house, and perhaps a ban list function so that you can lock certain people out of the house/room, without locking out everyone else too.

I just hope this post is in the correct place, it said suggestions, but I completely agree with this too.

It's just frustrating because I know people who would like to play the game, but then they have to sit behind a wall of at times, 70 some odd people. I really think that the AFK timer would help with this. Especially if they could figure out how to end the exploit it had with crafting classes back when it used to be implemented. Some people would enter into the crafting menu and start the steps and not be able to be booted when they were AFK because of that, so that was a bug.

wow! That's just creepy**never thought of such a scenario where someone would afk in another persons/FC house...a quick solution to kick said person out would be to change the FC house setting to where only members can enter. Do this briefly and change the setting back might kick him/her out? just a thought. . not sure if it'd work...

Doesn't current online population also influence character creation lockouts? I guess AFK kick also means more people can create characters on the high populated server to play with their friends without having to stay up/wake up at 3 in the morning.

Actually, when I want to create a new character on Balmung, I have to first create it on another server (usually Cerberus as I'm from Europe), then pay $15 to have it transfer over to Balmung because there are always so many people logged in that I can't seem to be able to create my characters directly on Balmung :(

you can create new char's during off peak hours. i've done this with 4 on Sargatanas and 2 on Tonberry

as to initial reason for thread, i agree. make the AFK timer max 15min before it logs you out to char select screen. as the game goes, it's good, but these annoyances are taking away from it as each becomes known. start doing QOL changes to help improve the game please.

I can completely agree with 15 minutes. As I've said, this just seems to be an annoying thing people are doing that takes away from those wishing to play.

I actually heard a person defend people for AFK'ing for hours at a time because it's just "what they do", but that really isn't a good reason to AFK for hours on end if you aren't playing.

Also I think locking the house doesn't work to boot them... you directly have to go to a GM and have them removed from the house that way. So a way to remove them from the house yourself would also be a nice feature.

Two prime examples as to why there should be an AFK kick. Several people just mounting their Behemoths and Magitek Armour then going AFK in front of Auriana, making it very difficult to actually get in and click to buy new gear.

Started off as just one person then the rest of them joined in just to be a**holes, but I bet you if that one person hadn't been doing it while AFK none of the others would have.

The reason this was removed was, one; the servers had become stable enough to implement the patch that removed the AFK timer, and two: the main reason was due to Atma and Animus. Both required waiting long periods for fates. Some fates back then would require waiting up to 4 hours or more. Many would do other things while waiting, and then get logged out, only to find out they had just missed the fate.

While I agree on the afk logout 15 minutes is way too short, make it an hour.

I rather cry out to REMOVE the afk autokick from duty after 10 mins for full premade ;_;
It is pretty annoying if you do firsttime T1 for a FC member, arrive at Cadduceus and 1 person says "sorry im needed need to afk a bit" and then gets kicked... returns 20s after kick... >.>
Idm to complete a normal 4 man dungeon on a 3 man setup but for raid content it is a pretty pain and it is premade so why is it even there if you cannot re-recruit members? :mad:

But yeah also the afk kick from game itself should come back but 15 min is rather short (bring out the garbage, get into lil talk with someone, get something from frdge combo time IS short especially when waiting for a DF) imho let it be min 30 min maybe up to 60min.

Yeah, an AFK timer is a good idea but a quarter of an hour is WAY too short.
I go AFK for that long waiting for a queue.... gosh.
A couple hours logged in AFKing is long enough, the kick can be that long. I mean, you haven't been playing for two whole hours, it ain't gonna hurt you to log back in after that.

Bumping because every time I talk to a friend about playing this game I have to caveat the hell out of it because Balmung is now locked out 24/7 except after maintenance. PLEASE do this at the very least.

2h afk would work I think for most people. And yes why is there an afk autokick when there are full premade parties entering stuff that can't recruit fresh people if someone leaves? I mean apparently the flag is there for premades so just let it disable that autokick.

Yeah, Balmung best times are normally super early morning, or right before/after Maintenance. I have friends that would like to try to play, but they have things like work and such, so they can't always be up at crazy hours to try to make a character. So it's normally closed out by the time they get the chance to take a look. I know some this is so bad, they actually make characters on other servers then actually pay to transfer to Balmung... which is ridiculous to have to do in the first place.

What SE needs to do is add a couple of new servers then offer free transfers to those servers to help with congested servers. Also the issue with RMT is getting worse not better, They need to find a way to stop them in their tracks and get rid of them. I also play Arche Age, there was a huge issue with RMT there, that seems to be getting lot better and there are no spam issues anymore. This is in well less then a year since launch. Here we are a year and a half or so past launch for this game and RMT bots and spam are as bad as ever. I believe they are much more of an issue then legit players going afk.

This sounds like its just exclusive to Balmung as a problem how'd your server how your server get so full to do this.

And no please don't put the kick timer back in its not fair to other people on servers who don't have this problem.

It's actually probably a problem for more servers, just you'll hear it from a Legacy server more since they were around since 1.0 of the game. Like now with the new patch, it brings in more people, more congestion and more AFK'ing in an area for fear of leaving to not get back in. Unfortunately when people do that, it creates a problem of new people not being able to get in. It was a really big problem back at launch actually.
