i got the gloves pretty sure it has spell speed ._.
YOU'RE WINNER
Someone got a WoD drop, quick - alert the press
Tank top says hi.
Anyone else pissed that the secondary stats on the WoD gear like makes the Coil gear look like ass ?
SCH for example
Dreadwyrm Gloves ......... Pie/Spell Speed
Demon Healing Gloves......Crit/DET
Dreadwyrm Belt........Pie/Spell Speed
Demon Belt of Healing....Crit Det
Dreadwyrm Tonban........Crit/Pie
WoD Pants For Healers.......Crit Det
Before you WHM chime in your BiS is opposite coil for each of these I just named aside from gloves which are interchangeable
but DO YOU SEE THIS ? I opted for the WoD Belt over my dreadwyrm belt......I hope these items get a upgrade like Ramuh rings did for having superior stats because this is ridiculous
I think Coil gear should adhere to being the BiS
Coil gear has never been BiS in every slot. Is it bad design? Who knows. But considering the horrible RNG drop rate for Coil maybe it's for the best until they revamp the loot system in Heavensward.
Should clarify a combination of i130 poetics/coil should be BiS , not a drop from WoD.
I'm not an elitist or anything but I would like to see those stats changed lol like seriously It was fairly disappointing dropping 11 crit from my daystar pants to wear the supposed BiS Dreadwyrm and then WoD comes out with the +44 Crit +22 Det like wtf
I highly doubt SE designs a piece of gear with the idea that it will be Best in Slot. If they really cared about what stats players like best on their gear, they'd stop doing things like putting what people believe is the worst stat to have on the best weapon of patch(case in point being Dreadwyrm Grimoire having Spell Speed). Best in Slot isn't a title that SE assigns; it's a title that players assign. What we have instead are merely options, and having full i130 + the Accuracy cap is always more than enough to curbstomp every piece of content in the game.
It's not in the translated notes we were given, but one of my FC members pre-translated Live Letter XVIII for us way back when and it was directly mentioned there that US/EU largely prefers using Crit/Det while Japan largely prefers using Skill/Spell Speed. Funny how Japan is still pushing content despite the "useless" stat, huh? Either way, both translations I have mention intent to make Skill and Spell speed better regardless of this.
Here's a quote from what we were given for Live Letter XVIII
They want us to have a choice, not be pigeonholed into one set of gear or another by stats that are massively better than others. Instead, we have stats that are barely better than others and a relative inability to render ourselves unable to complete content by choosing the "wrong" gear.Quote:
With that said though, devotion to raid equipment alone would take away the value of poetics equipment and crafted equipment, so we’ve allocated various stats so that players can choose the equipment they want to use with the needed stats.
Insisting that US/EU servers aren't pushing content ? I have played on both sides of the spectrum (Malboro US) (Tonberry JP) and I have yet to see a SCH prefer SS over Crit Or DET.
And it's not being ''pigeonholed'' on to one set.Simply why weren't the coil gear given the stats rather than the WoD, now I'm being ''pigeonhold'' into converting to Demon gear rather than Dreadwyrm see where I'm going with this. Demon Belt is massively better than the Poetics Belt for SCHs seeing as the Det offsets the Mind loss and I'd take +20 crit over a sub 5 VIT loss any day......Dreadwyrm Tonban gets trumped by -11 Crit for the Demon Skirt with the +22 DET offsetting any MND loss.
And it was just a statement as in why is some of the WoD secondary stats better than the Dreadwyrm when one its i130 and two the means of acquiring it are scaled.
In all we're still all aiming at the same gearset due to what we deem ''BiS'' that has been popularized.
Yeah like the T9 tank gear doesn't give accuracy... I'm literally missing the boss all day 7 out of 10 skills. If the majority of bard gear from WoD doesn't give accuracy and you try to jump into T9+ or even Shiva ex with it (content that has accuracy caps) you will find yourself useless as you miss the majority of your shots.
I am finding that the gear / stat systems in this game have a horrific and not-well-thought-out design. Surely I can't be the only one who feels this way. I mean I get it, they wanted us to have 'choices' but if I can't hit a boss with the loot that I just got from that boss we got a problem lol.
Secondary stats aren't as huge as people make it out to be. Sure stacking a particular stat can lead to some really beneficial outcomes but in the grand scheme of things if you're choosing to take an extra like 10 crit on some pants and lose out on other stats that really amounts to you only losing out on stats. That 10 crit gain is essentially not changing much. If you're choosing between something with 30 crit and something with no crit then sure that's a decent enough chunk but between 30 and 40 (or whatever the numbers are) that's nothing. I would take whichever will give me more Vit or mind at that point.
Clarkamite I like the way you put that.
And in no way am I giving up a ton of MND for minimal secondary stat increase....but what if it offsets why not ?
For instance Demon belt is +21 MND +20 Crit +10 Det .....stats weighted it would be +23 MND +20 Crit > Outdoing the Augmented belt with a +5 Crit over a -2 Vit......yeah minimal but it stacks. If I paid attention to the ''bigger'' stat my crit would be down in the low 540 range...with optimizing gear I'm around 601 without food. a +60 on your crit makes a huge difference
When did I ever say that US/EU wasn't pushing content? Please show me the exact words I typed which clearly stated this.
Now... to actually work on what you've said.
First, you used SCH as an example to show that Japan isn't preferring Spell Speed? You're going to have to try again. SCH is one of the very rare jobs where a secondary stat exists that is so far above and beyond the others in effectiveness that you're actually stupid if you don't stack it. That stat is, of course, Crit. This situation is rare among the jobs. A case could be made for Crit on Bard, but the presence of Internal Release and Straight Shot reduce the need to stack the stat to have good Crit rates, which makes Crit less godly. We could reference Spell Speed for Summoners as something that should actually be avoided, though. Japan is as upset at SMN gear as we are this tier. If you try to argue Det for literally every unmentioned job, it is worth noting that the higher weight of Det in regards to the number of secondary stats on a piece of gear means that every point of Det is approximately 0.45(give or take 0.01 or so :D) points of another stat that you don't get on that piece. Although Det usually ends up being number one despite this, avoiding Det usually ends up being quite close to stacking it simply because you get so many points of the other stats as a result of avoiding Det.
Furthermore, you're exclusively using a healer class to provide these arguments and using the stats in relation to added healing potency to justify lowering your item level. This is strange because optimizing secondary stats for healing potency is meaningless. The base potency of healing spells is so high that main stats alone will push your heals far and above what they actually need to be hitting for in a given fight. Thus, there is really only one reason a SCH should want one piece over another: more Crit. Losing a little bit of MND won't kill you; it'll be VIT caps that stop you, not your heals being too weak.
It's probably best to not think of Accuracy as a secondary stat. It's very much a primary stat, because having too little of it actually renders you unable to complete content. I consider Piety to be in the same vein, especially for White Mages, but Scholars shouldn't ignore it entirely either.
Congrats on the loot drop! I ran WOD a few times this week but couldn't get the chest to drop at all. Saw the tank body drop and finally caved in to it in the end. Shall continue my WOD bard chest search next week :P
The kirimu chest was great for progression though in 2.4 and the accuracy it provided gave us a lot of gearing options early on. To meet the accuracy requirements (535) in t13 w WOD chest, you're still gonna need the dread gloves + dread belt (both from t10).
