is there any way to make crafting more interesting?

for clarification before i begin, this is not a complaint thread!

i was just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks to ease that crafting leveling grind.
currently im looking for a nice scenic location to see if a good view will take some of the edge off of sitting around playing with the destiny of one glowy orb after another.
do you have a specific playlist of music you listen to? perhaps you watch netflix on the side?

I have classical music on in the background using Spotify/Deezer/Google Music, (and music turned off in-game). I leave SFX on (as I often have DF queued), and set my character to run a crafting macro (you could, of course, just use Quick Synth, but you get minimal exp that way). The SFX are needed so I know when the crafting is complete.

I like to craft in a quiet place (usually my FC house), because if it is too crowded, I hear other people's crafting attempts, and often confuse their sounds for my own (you can't tell which is which when the game screen is minimised).

As for what I do during the crafting, I switch to Amazon Cloud reader, and read books (studying stuff in my spare time), then switch back when the craft attempt has finished. I get through a fair bit in the time it takes to craft 99 items.

Do it in chunks and don't fret over your progress. The more you rush it the worse you feel.

I also noticed you're most likely not following a crafting leveling guide. If you enjoy doing things your own way then that's cool. Just want to remind you that having all the Lv.15 cross-class crafting skills help a lot in achieving more HQ results during leveling, which gives quite a morale boost to the player.

Also, leveling using leves is the fastest way. I accumulate leve allowances and spend them over the weekend. I don't go for the repeatable leves because they are the most inefficient use of time. The repeatable leves are only good if you want to save on leve allowances. For me, I never get enough time in one sitting to use all my allowances anyway, so I choose the most rewarding leve type: courier leves. Between my Return point and free teleport (for using OTP account protection), I don't pay extra for delivery.

At low levels you may be tempted to craft a whole batch of stuff then run back and forth for hand-in. This is monotonous and causes boredom. With courier leves, I only craft for that delivery, then go deliver. I can do this because I level all crafts in parallel, so each courier run I'm handing in items for 2-3 different crafts.

But I guess the most important thing still is try not to care too much about how quickly or slowly you're leveling. Enjoy the grind and it won't feel like a grind.

I leveled classes that could equip said armor, when i did ninja i also leveled leathercraft, from 15+ i fully melded each piece :) moar dps
overall tho i actually enjoyed the grind, the only craft i need to finish is now is alchemy.

How to make crafting more interesting:

1) Try it blindfolded.
2) Ask your clueless 7 year old daughter to pick cross-class skills for you.
3) Craft while wearing a straitjacket, using only your nose to press the keys/buttons.
4) Take a shot of your favourite liquor when you fail a hasty touch.
5) Wear your grandmother's extra-thick glasses so everything is magnified 10-fold and incredibly blurry.
6) Craft in the middle of Castrum Centri.
7) Craft in the middle of the Behemoth Fate.
8) Craft the highest level item you can with the lowest level gear you can.

...so many possibilities.

Pretty much everything is fun when it's a drinking game. I have a bad feeling about this weekend now. Might have a horrendous hangover on Saturday since I was going to try some 2-star crafts for the first time tonight.

It is about making it more interesting, not boring

And you can do it already, if you want

do a collaboration with Atelier series and bring those alchemist outfits to FFXIV.

I do think the crafting game is neglected in modern MMOs because each item needs a design and 3D model which costs too much. So game companies consolidate items and half of the player population at any time are wearing the same things.

Level all DoH at once so there's some variety.
Don't craft for too long at one sitting. Do your GC turn ins maybe a handful of leves and stop.
Sell your stuff on the mb and watch the gil roll in. :p This provides me no end of glee.

eta: Have a crafting party and hang out with your friends. A while back, a bunch of us sat on the ropes in MD and crafted. We've also had a gathering/crafting party outside Quarrymill. It's fun just to chat and be silly.

I recommend checking off every recipe in your crafting log. Make at least one of everything. Do every crafting leve at least once. Only resort to out-and-out grinding as a last resort, and if you have to do so, grind stuff that sells well (like lumber or ingots).

Also, mix in Ixali Beast Tribe quests. Variety will help tone down the monotony - and Ixali quests pay off bigtime in the long run, since you can earn big gil selling Ehcatl Sealant.

This method will INCREASE the time it takes to level, but it will be more interesting since you're crafting all kinds of different things.

Additional tips:
Use the GC provisioning missions to help level up different classes. If you have unlocked the Ixal quests, they are perfect for levelling up as you can target specific classes by equipping them when you complete the mission.

When crafting, close ur eyes lol.
Oh wait, u can probably hq a few high end crafts with ur eyes closed already....
I close my eyes or maybe watch stuff literally when i craft cuz honestly on the lower high end crafts 1-3* i guess u can literally jus play Simon says and get a successful craft. I play with a controller so its just like press this after this after this then this and this etc lool

Tbh tho there is nothing really to make crafting "fun". If u make up some kind of thing then it kinda seems like ur forcing urself to "enjoy" it rather than just liking it as it is lol >_>

I usually go to crowded places like Mor Dhona to watch people while I am crafting.

Any tips for producing HQ items? I have all the crafting classes at level 15 and I still have issues with producing a HQ item.

well... different ppl have different preference.

For me, I do like crafting on crowds. At least that way it still kept me awake. When I do had to craft on secluded place, either because I need something there like easy-access low level items in FC house, I usually felt drowsy. lol
