0/49 Wanderers Palace. Something needs to change :\
Having the same issue with pharos. Just bad luck we're having. It will change when they nerf it in the future.
alot of plp are getting really bad luck on certain dungeons, making me think theres a bug, i was getting them in 1/5 runs but now...i have to do lost city and satasha hm and nothing after grinding them for 2 days straight
I have run Tam-Tara Deepcroft HM 47 times no luck
I got WP on my first try. Now, Sastasha, on the other hand... That one, I'm up to around twenty-five attempts and counting.
It's my last dungeon, too; I have all the materials I need to finish its quest and obtain my Zodiac. Just need that one final drop!
one week, no drops lol
Naturally, the very day I whine about it on the forums, I finally get my Sastasha drop. Excalibur and Aegis Shield obtained!
I have run Tam tara hm 65 times no drop thinking on unsubscribe from the game and I create a post and they moved to fix bugs
Hmm, so about the same time SE was making earlier steps easier (Atma, Alexandrite from fates), the last step became harder? And not telling us about it in patch notes of course.
While it's not certain, seems extremely likely considering that here we have a 47, 49, and 25 runs without drop mentioned. I also have a FC mate who's been on Aurum Vale quite a lot without drop recently -- don't have an exact count though.
Compare that to when I did Ragnarok right after it was released: Max for any dungeon was like 8 or 9. Several on 1st run. Average probably around 3 or 4 clears each.
And to get that on Aurum Vale is just hell:
- The level sync makes kills very, very slow. Far slower than any 50 dungeon, and a bit slower than all the lower level stuff.
- Mechanics are more challenging than the lower level dungeons (expected progression) ... which can slow things down.
- If you DF, there's a very good chance group-mates will be brand new not-yet-lvl50 people. (Because after 50, little reason to go there)
- Sacrifice running it takes more coordination than I would even attempt with a full DF group.
... So you're left trying to convince 3 friends to run AV repeatedly, with no reward for them (not even soldiery tomes worth mentioning). Not a reasonable situation at all IMO.
That said, I had thought when I did it pre-stealth-rate-decrease that the i125 relics were easier than Nexus, Novus, etc. and pattern would dictate that being out of place. It seemed a breath of fresh air after the stupidity of Atma to Nexus steps pre-nerf. If SE actually wanted to up the difficulty correctly, they would need to 1) mention it in patch notes, and 2) tweak the stupidly hard parts (Aurum Vale in this case) to be a bit more manageable. Or just not up the difficulty at all.
This system wouldn't be so bad if we had a way to increases the chances for a drop. having a 10% chance tied to 20-40 minute dungeons while being at the mercy of RNG is a real pain after how well progress could be tracked during the Novus and Nexus steps. If they're not going to increase the drop rate they could at least change the quest so all dungeons that have to be done could be available at once so we had more options open to us instead of being stuck in one thing.
Update have run Tam tara hm 75 times now still no drop this is getting stupid
Pure shatasha hard run for 4 days still no drop
I don't believe SE has upped the difficulty rate. I think you were just lucky with your Ragnarok. As for Aurum Vale being filled with newbs, my experience has been the opposite; while I have gotten a couple of newb runs, most of the time there's other level 50s in there searching for their own Zodiac items. Remember, most newbs will only complete Aurum Vale ONCE and move on. Zodiac seekers, on the other hand, will do Aurum Vale over and over and over and over...
Well, it's not possible to sign up for more than five dungeons at a time in Duty Finder, and with the quests as they are you can still have as many as eight dungeons available at once. Having all sixteen up at once, though, WOULD make High Roulette a more viable option for getting these done...
Decided to start on this...no idea why. 0/10 in brayflox so far. People voiced how awful ATMA is, so the devs make ATMA 2.0. So much for the devs listening to feedback.
Hmm I had 17 times stone vigil and 12 times quarn. Everything else done in 5 runs tops. Several 1 or 2 runs only. That is meesed up if you didn't get after 30+ runs.
As bad as it is, Zodiac dungeons are nowhere NEAR as bad as Atma farming was in the beginning - largely because, even after dozens of attempts, running a dungeon is STILL more fun than grinding FATEs...
That, and items that take dozens of attempts to get are the exception, not the rule. Generally, you can expect to get an item in under five attempts, and it's not at all unusual to get a few of them on the first attempt.
I'm on my 2nd dungeon and my experience has been quite difference. These are the easily speed runnable dungeons. It's already killing my motivation to go on. 10+ runs of darkhold or arum vale... ugh.
There are fun parts to it. I've been running these as a tank, and I landed a party in WP where the other 3 were fresh 50's. I had a fun run with those guys, helping them out, explaining things etc. Yes, it's not all bad.
While I got extraordinarily lucky with my drops (managed to get 12 in 2 days), I'd love to see some sort of system where the drop rate increased just a tiny bit each time you ran the dungeon so that we don't end up with people having to spam AV 47 times etc. I think it'd be fair to guarantee the drop at a certain point rather than leaving everything up to RNG.
I can't figure out why SE insists on adding RNG to the relic questline so much. The rest of the relic stage we're at now is fine. I think it's pretty cool to have a combination of crafting items, vendor items (gil), the bombard cores and the spring water. The issue I have is with the RNG on the dungeon items.
They knew we hated atmas but then gave us something even worse. Atmas were bad, but I at least could clear it regardless of the quality of players with me. Now, a good chunk of the groups I am with have people that are really terrible. Wiping over and over on dungeon months out of date is really annoying.
Been grinding SV HM all night long. Probably at the 8 hour mark now. No drop yet.
I feel like some stages are much better than others. I liked the books apart from the fates (RNG...), I liked the alexandrite stuff apart from the failure on melding and the low fate drops (RNG and RNG). The light grinding wasn't too bad, really. I just feel like it could've been a tweaked a bit. It was very grindy. I think having more dramatic bonuses to entice people to run stuff they would normally never run would've been great. Have light a super light bonus or something for an obscure dungeon ever window or something. Making it public rather than forcing players to find it out on their own would've been nice as well.
I finished my Sasuke's Blades yesterday, finally, and the only reason it took so long was because Halatali decided to be a stubborn holdout for another 6 hours after I got all my other items. Not going to do one of these again.
In principle, the "high" drop rate compared to Atmas, combined with the mathematical improbability of a long unbroken sequence of the same result, is intended to create a moderate but not intolerable grind. The reality, though, is that the more players undertaking the quest, the larger the pool in which a statistical anomaly can emerge. Of course, all this only applies to a truly random system.
Computers are, by their very nature, incapable of spontaneous action, and thus incapable of truly "random" behavior. "Random" number generation is algorithmic in nature, which means patterns will always inevitably emerge in time. Applied to a massively multi-user system, patterns can become apparent in a very short amount of time. The rest goes without saying.
A ten percent drop on a 40 min dungeon run like aurum vale is cringe worthy imo. I was hoping I'd get mine after the first few runs, but nope. It seems like it insta drops after the easiest dungeons like bray hm, haukke hm, ak, but the most time consuming dungeons its laf. Weeks more of grinding at the now final step to get that sub par relic. Please look forward to it!
I recently started playing FF14 when ninja first came out and I really enjoyed the game since. I decided to go through the entire zodiac quest and currently up to the Final Zodiac quest currently released. I would be find with it but the RNG as not been kind to me to say the least. I would not take it so hard if there was an increase chance of the item dropping every time I do the dungeon, even a 5% chance increase every time so I would not have to do Hullbreaker Isle 40 times and end up with nothing as that is quite is discouraging. Imagine that happening for every dungeon is quite scary lmao.
I am just starting to do the HM dungeons doing the books for Animus. Maybe I better stick to using the PF for my first runs, may encounter alot of rage.
Just finsihed my 3rd Nexus weapon and I'll complete a 3rd Zodica weapon with a drop from my last DF I need. All in all I"d say the mosts DFs were good to me. I had two give me a hard time. I waited for the reset on Tuesdays to retry Hullbreaker and Temple of Corn hm (lol) These were the two that give me a hard time. I went 0 for 5 on each. With the reset I went 1 for 2 on Hullbreaker and 1 for 1 on Temple of Corn. "My friedns say I might just be lucky"
It's all just luck. On third weapon now. I've had experiences where I literally got 7 drops in a row 1/1, I've also gone 5 days with nothing. Just last night, I had a friend who got his second drop from DD (as in finished the quest, and started it again) and I still haven't gotten my DD drop from when I ran with him the first time around. It sucks, yes, but if they decided to do non rng, it could be worse. They could for example, go the FFXI route, and require you to gather thousands of drop items from an instance with a daily lockout, or maybe make the drop at the end of the dungeon guaranteed, but require, say, 10 of each drop (160 dungeon runs in total).
I, honestly, still think that this is the quickest, easiest step in the line(counting each step when it was first added). Even with terrible luck, it's still only like, 2 weeks of work for a casual player. Still less time than it takes most players to get an encrypted tomestone for an inferior ironworks weapon.
I would just rather not say my amount of runs. Oh the flipside i was going into this knowing that i would have just as bad of RNG as atmas were before all the drop rate increases.
Why are we going thu this again? i think its crap that we are messed over with this Rng crap. Dont get me wrong i dont mind it but god these dungeons are horrible. We have to play the same content over and over. I mean give us some help or something after 5 runs a increase of drop chance or something. Well im just mad ive done these dungeons more than i care to. Helping new people as well. But it really dont matter SE wont listen to ya anyway lol
I'm up to 37 runs in Snowcloak. 37. I hate this stupid dungeon now with a passion. Forcing people to run the same thing over and over and over and over and over again is NOT enjoyable. It's taking dungeons I once enjoyed running casually, and making them so disgusting to even think about now. What is SE's obsession with RNG, and the hatred it creates? Or is it just the ultimate lazy way out of putting forth actual content?
Just finish my 3rd zodiac weapon. On atma book 6 for Dragoon with 86 alexs in storage. If this keeps up, I'll have 5 Zodiac weapons soon. I always take a break if the drop rates sucks. I wish everyone good luck here!!
I just finished mine, I got lucky on a few, unlucky on a few, very very lucky on the worst ones and was very unlucky on Amdapor keep.
I probably ran most dungeons 5 or 6 times before drop, some were first time drops (Dzaemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale), Amdapor keep took around 20 or so though I believe. Overall I would of said this was much less stressful than Animus or Nexus stage but then I didn't have to suffer through DD or AV 10 times. If I did i'm sure it would of sucked, although I queued as tank for those to get instant queues and try and speed the dungeon as quickly as possible.
The only thing I really noticed is how many healers (even very well geared ones) sit around doing nothing except reapplying stoneskin and using cure or physick as soon as the tank drops 1 hp off max, when they could easily be contributing by dpsing. That annoyed me the most especially when the other dps was undergeared or useless. (I saw a nin use nothing but hyoton, no kassatsu, no ration, no trick attack, the whole run)

Lost City 0/3 0/0
SV HM 0/5 0/0
Im plagued with luck so he has the feeling to hold me back but the deal is to only move on together :)
Ok still doing this questline and my god is it frustratingly annoying.
Over 20 runs per dungeon is not my idea of fun at all, who came out with this silly idea anyway, a former Ubisoft member? lol
And the whole crateable/desynth items, again utterly stupid idea
How about the AV groups I get that cant even finish the dungeon... sub-50 monk gear breaks, has to leave... replacement is fine. But tank is new, thinks he can stun his way to safety. He takes every bad breath to the face on final boss and eats the fruit to cure it, leaving none for us - and doesnt speak english.... 75 minutes down the tube. 15 various runs and 0 atma. not loving my start to the quest.
Oh the fates were horrid as was atma drop rate back in the day (3 + months for 12 atmas) But spamming the same dungeons over and over and over.... that is just bad design and uber annoying is all i was saying.
And also why do we need to purchase bomb cores and Spring water multiple times, sigh
Sorry about my rant, just this entire Relic questline has been a real pain as i am sure it has been for others
I really didn't mind the drop rate for my first two zodiacs. But this third one.... this third one, I have 2 dungeons left and have thus far spent double the time and effort on it than both of my previous zodiacs combined. I'm currently at an -average- of 15-20 runs per drop. My quickest drop for this weapon has been 7 runs, my worst has been around 50ish. Longest streak without seeing a single drop was well over 80 dungeons.
Sometimes RNG giveth. Sometimes it taketh away.
