So i did the hildi quest, spawned back in at the end, and he was sat on my head and did a breathe of blue fire, i then de-summoned him, tried to beckon him onto me and nothing happened?
anyone know if hes meant to be able to sit on us? o.O

He sits on your shoulder whenever he feels like it, doesn't take orders and doesn't want you to take orders.
I do not yet know if Midgardsormr is trying to help us or not. I do like it when he chills on my shoulder though.
so is it a random occurance?
given his lines and the fact that people are already calling him and the dragons "anonymous," I'd say he's just an enormous (literally) troll.
Yeah, I feel like there's a bug? He sat on my head and would not leave. Ever. Even though I went in and out of instances. The only way to get him to fly again was to banish and then resummon him....
I just want someone to draw a comic of him popping out of nowhere when your character is in the bathroom or something and your character is like "Oh my gawd do you have to watch me everywhere?"
yeah that method of storytelling really annoys me. Big mysterious powerful thing does some magical mumbo jumbo to you that screws with you and doesn't explain why.
After he did that, if I were my character, I'd tell the garleans and ishgardians to bomb him until he's even more glass. Why should we listen to someone who'll take 10 minutes to explain how his kids want to burn things but won't take 5 to explain what he did and why?
Quick way to get him off your shoulder - use an aethernet shard. Otherwise he'll leave randomly.
Mine watches me cook/craft a lot. It seems like it'd be insufferably boring, but I guess when you've spent years just kinda sitting out in the lake in Mor Dhona alone, anything would be entertainment. Even baths with Miqo'te:

For some reason I find that adorable.
It'd go well with this http://www.xivnomnom.com/comic/omniscience/
Oh god imagine going to bed while he's summoned.
This is the like the Succubus minion with one exception you can use the /beckon to get her to sit on your shoulder or head (lala). She will eventually sit there after a bit as well. Once there she doesn't leave.
I enjoy all my minions and special things that some do. The little mole one though is a tad messy, needs a tissue.
I meant actual sleep, but that will do.
I can do that :D
He seems to always sit on my shoulder whenever I stop moving for a bit. Other than that, I haven't seen him do anything else.
I think one nation's animosity towards gigantic fire-breathing monsters that take a small platoon to dispatch is less mysterious than we're giving it credit for. It probably started with one of them killing someone important on the other side and just kinda snowballed from there.
It's been going on for a LONG time, too, since the taboo on getting lovey-dovey with dragons is already "ancient" by their standards.
pay more attention
he has a positive relationship with headelyn
headelyn is dying
he took her place as WoL's protecter
and ishgard leader is working with ascians
these are all things you should be at least suspicious of, unless you just skip ever single cutscene you come accross
You know... he's kind of a baby. Why hasn't my Paladin just skewered the little blighter before he gets too big to put down? Yes... I'm still miffed about what he did to me, and yes... I think a pair of dragonskin boots would look wonderful with my dragontooth necklace.
By taking the Blessing of Light and claiming you as his own, he's preparing you for the greater conflict. With the unrest in Ul'dah, the coming Ishgard/Dravian war, and return of the Empire, Eorzea needs a champion who is free of the schemes and manipulations of others, and is able to confront the Ascians, who are probably closer then ever to bring back Zodiark.
Someone else brought this up but if you compare Midg and the future new Flying Mount we will obtain as a reward for completing 3.0 they are the same beings.

Basically looks like Midgardsormr is going to be our ally and help us deal with the Ascian controlled Ishgard in 3.0.
Along with becoming our Dragon Flying Mount at the end of 3.0.
Might get a clockwork replacement
how cool would it be if he becomes 1 of our companions?? i mean on lodestone it says companions as in plural, i for 1 would be stoked if that was to happen *o*
Yeah that sounds very true that the flying mount at the end of 3.0 will be Midgardsormr fully reborn (sort of). He should prove a valuable ally even though he's a bit of a smarta** in 2.5 Part 1.
Well he does have the right to be since we killed a lot of his fellow dragons and by helping Ishgard we are basically helping the Ascians progress in their Goal with that ever plan they have for Ishgard.
Along with the part that he does mention we've been people's errand boy or girl for the entire time and we should actually think for ourselves.
I always wanted a dragon pet but he seems like a bad guy, still don't get why he is your pet now.
It's explained pretty clearly (from the Ishgardian POV anyway): one thousand years ago, Halone appeared before a bunch of the people living in the mountains and the highlands and told them to go make a city in the middle of the Sea of Clouds. While they were building the bridge to this city, Nidhogg, the leader of the Dravanians, attacked and killed their leader. The leader's son attacked Nidhogg and ripped the dragon's eye out, and the big lizard ran away to lick his wounds. And that's how the war started.
