Alexandrite FATE drop increase?

I know it hasn't been out for long, but did anyone confirm that there was actually a significant increase in Alexandrite drops? If it's anywhere near the new drop rates on Atmas then that means that FATE farming is the new way to go with them.

Well RNG is RNG so even with the increased drop rate you can be unlucky and not get squat. I did like 20 fates and got two alexandrites kept doing more because I only needed two more for my Warrior and got diddly squat even after doing like 30 fates.

Sounds like they only really doubled the drop rate, if its taking that long. If you were farming atma, with the new rate, you would certainly have many more atma then you do alex.

Day one of patch I was getting alexandrite about every 5-10 fates, got 4 that day but didn't really do alot of fates. Since then alexandrite been dry did about 1hrs worth of CH fates came away with 2 alexandrite

I am tempted to try this out but I want to make sure I have all the abilities at my disposal. Do you have a recommendation on which zone. I was thinking northern than or maybe even Coerthas.

It would be awesome if you could have your animus and farm atma at the same time as Alex. They should allow animus to be able to still collect Atma.

I did more alex farming and got 3 lastnight. From my experience its been going in a pattern like farm for 1hr nothing then boom boom boom alex then back to another 1hr grind. Lower level fates been working out better for me, and I mean really low like level 5 fates lol, warped to central than did a 1 level 5 fate bam alex.

Both of my fates were from the one fate just barely outside O'ghomoro Mines in Outer La Noscea. It is level 49. Then I attempter coerthas and nothing.

My question is: Will Alex's drop from FATE's in any zone? Or only in zones where you can get ATMA?

If I was any other class than PLD I would tell you. Fate grinding on pld is.... boring.

Any zone works. I got a few from CCH yesterday.

Drop rate has to be in the range of 10-15% it is very noticeable as compared to the old 1% drop rate. I have gotten 7 total from Fates.

Perfect. Thank you for this. I was afraid of farming in other zones and wasting hours of time.

It seems to up and down, atleast in my case. Sunday I did 3hrs in North Than and got 10 (While SB'ing) and then I did about 5 hours today and only got 4 of them. It could have been the number of people (There were A LOT on Sunday) that made it seem faster? Not sure, but 14 in 2 days does make it seem like they are dropping at a good rate.

Got one from a level 8 fate outside ML, something to do with a farmer lol. Long as you get gold not sure it matters, also got one from go go lastnight

Been getting some every now and then, but I wouldn't say that the rate is high enough to bother focusing on it.

If anything I would recomend getting a boarskin map, opening it in a main city and do any FATE you find in the way while walking to the destination... at least gives you a side goal.

Best thing to do is to get in a Hunting party and farm Fates in between hunt calls.

Now a 10% Drop rate from Fates for Alexandrite. I preferred Upper LaNoscea Bc its very little travel time, lots of fates, and if you're a Miner, Electrum Ore for the I49 accessories you're SBing for the melds while you wait for fates to pop.

When this first started, I would see maybe 2-3 alex a day from doing fates in between waiting for duties, etc (so average around 30 fates a day I suppose). In the past week and a bit I have not seen a single one drop. I must be over 200 fates now (conservative estimate), over about 10 days, and not a sausage. It might just be a coincidence this happened right after the maintenance period - not the last one, the one the Tuesday before. This is on Odin.

Before you ask what weapon I'm using, I'm still getting lights and hitting Gold on all of them, so that's not the issue.

Is this just me or has anyone else noticed a big difference happening in the drop rates?

This is solid advice. While I'm hunting open HUNT windows, I do FATEs... Drop rate still sucks, at least for me...

One tip:

If you are farming alexandrites, it's better go to low level zones, middle La noscea or western thanalan, that's fates is more easy to complete because there are few peoples doing it and the mob's hp is low.

Usually i kill one mob 1 hit + dot or 2 hits, and you need 10 mobs to complete the fate.

My favorite zone is summeford farms, because there are a fate chain, where the last boss is "chupacabra", i got 6 alex doing that fate, one for the first fate and the second for the last one.

I can confirm with this, been fate farming and couldnt get jack crap from any

Tried out different zones, no luck

Unusual to not even get one after hours (RNG is RNG I know but after the increase it cant be this bad)

Not just me then. Since I posted, probably another 100-150 fates down over those days and I have got..... drumroll.... ONE. Frankly, the drop rate is the same as it always was - Abysmal. Need to do the low level ones, cannot queue and use choco at the same time.

Had better luck with atma before they lowered the drops on that.

I have terrible luck, since patch hit, I have had 0 Alex drops after breaking 300 fates 2 days ago (using the 3k fate achieve to track the numbers). I'm getting gold on the fates, and still getting light for my pld, and getting gold on blm, relics are novus and animus respectively, in northern thanalan. Not sure why rng hates me, had the same issue with atma pre-buff.

I have farmed for hours over the last couple of days for Alexandrites and zero. Last week, I was helping my girlfriend farm and she was dropping them 3 every hour. So unless RNG just hates me, there's something wrong with the Alexandrite drop rates recently.

If it makes you all feel better i have yet to recieve a single alexandrite from a fate. Its not that the games rng hates me, i mean it must love me really because none of my retainers are fishers and yet i get a variety of fish everyday. What are the odds of that?

Sadly, it seems the patch that increased the drop rate lasted about a week (that week it looked around 10%). It's back to 1% now (possibly less). Not even "bad luck" explains these statistics, which have been repeatable for at least 3 weeks now.

I do have to wonder why they decided the drop rates needed to be lower than Atma when you need MORE (6x) Alexandrite than Atma at this point

To keep you subbed for longer =D. If the rates have been increased, not by much. I think out of about 300 FATES so far.. I got about 15.. that is 5%... yay. T_T

It was 1% before, confirmed. 5% is a huge increase but the real number is closer to 10%. I have 50+ Alex just rotting on a mule, almost all from Fates since the update. I have zero intentions of doing another Zodiac they just keep dropping.

I'm averaging 3 Alex/day, mostly from NT Fates.

Just wanted to confirm something you said. I have my Novus on PLD and slowly working on relics for the other classes. I just got Atma on Warrior but if I have my novus equipped on PLD alexandrite will still drop? I am going to use it as a way to get light in between bright sessions.

I wish I could scream "A**hole!" in this Thread and it reaches SE. No really, gonna stay calm but 3 hours FATE-Farm now and not a single Alexandrite. Not a single. This is so much not funny, I can't find the words...

FATE-based drops like this depend on what weapon you have equipped at the time. If Novus can drop Alexandrite once, it can always drop Alexandrite. So you're good to go.

You missed the question entirely. I didn't know if Novus could or could not drop alexandrite. Zenith will only drop atma and once you upgrade no more atma. So I was asking for verification whether novus could or is there an upgrade point where alex no longer drops.

I did test and my Novus did collect alexandrite. But now does a zodiac weapon still collect alexandrite?

Ayup. Was getting Alexandrite on my Zodiac while doing FATEs inbetween queues when the instance servers were being hammered, and I've been getting them with a Zeta as well.

At one time the rate is good (like I can get 3 alex after SB 1 set of tourmaline acc) but mostly the rate is so horrible (2 alex appears after I SB 3 sets of tourmaline acc)

Alexandrite drop rate still pretty low for me. I'm thinking time would be better spent farming dungeons for soldiery so you can buy maps.

Yeah, the Alexandrite drop rate from fates has been low for me as well, halfway there though after about 40 days ;)
having said that, I seem to get more from doing hunts and buying Alex with allied seals.
