Increased Alexandrite Drop-rate in Fates and Increased Light Earned for Nexus

Thoughts on this? These were buried in the patch notes and I have not seen much discussion.

I hope we can farm alex with zodiac too?? i'm trying to respec it and maybe fate farm with the buff to alex drop will be better than 1 alex per day with the morbid motivation quest??? In the patch notes it is only mark for animus, novus, nexus

I LOVE THIS - 30/75 on Alex right now... I am going to stop farming it now besides the daily quest and incidental hunt/sol so that I can burn through it once this patch adjusts the rate.

I dont know about the nexus light but for alexandrite you have the daily quest, 400soldefy to trade for a map, 200allied seals from hunts and low rate on fates. Thats 4 different things you can do to get alexandrite what more do you want?

It's probably a minuscule increase across the board.

If the light is enough of an increase, I will seriously consider doing a third Nexus/Zodiac in order to obtain a Lillith Rod.

Maybe they increase the Alexandrite droprate from FATEs to the old Atma droprate. Or would this to high?

Well working on my second relic and only need 15 more alexandrite so I think I'm just going to keep at it with daily quest and buying maps. Doubt going to do another one. The alex stage is really the only thing I really dislike about the relic grind the rest doesn't bother me.

I think this is fair due to the fact that nexus trial burn parties are very hard to find and an item level 110 weapon is not going to be viable in expansion content. Early nexus adopters had the benefit of being able to cap tomestones / weekly content (utilizing an item level 110 weapon) without any questions being asked. Players still on the nexus stage at expansion time won't be able to use their novus for reaching weekly expansion content cap and thus will be required to spend an enormous amount of additional time earning their nexus.

Personally i wouldn’t expect the amount of “Nexus Light” you get from the duties to increase by a lot (like getting 20 Light for a low level roulette), but any increase would be welcome for the players who haven’t started on their Nexus yet.

If, for instance, a Garuda Hard Mode run would give a continuous 4 light instead of 2 and 6/8 Light as the “Bonus”... That would make the farming process quite a bit faster already.

I'm still working on Novus for summoner (I'm at "vigorous") and have Animus at 31/75 for white mage, so both of these please me. I should be able to collect a lot of light doing all the new patch stuff, too.

From a personal level, I like this change. I'm at the cusp of getting onto the Light stage of my 2nd relic and was trying to save Sold to get the Zodiac items so I haven't purchased any maps for accelerated Alex farm. Hopefully I can clear out the last 10 or so Alex I need fairly quickly then progress light farming dungeons for my Zodiac drops.

From a general level of players playing catchup, I'll reserve judgement until I see how the rates have changed.

I would have preferred they'd do something with the FATES for the Zodiac Brave books. Hated that part of the Relic a lot more than Alex or Lights.

This is very good for late comers and new players. Good luck guys getting alexs!

ppl might want multiple relics. what you mentioned, is not nearly enough, since you need 75/relic. for 1 relic, it's fine.
also, not everyone is particularity keen on chasing marks, when they spawn so rarely.

If it's a decent amount, I'll seriously considering working on a second weapon. I'll be going from the Atma to whatever next stage so it'll take a while, but it'll give me something else to tide me over.

Alex wasn't the worst for me when I did the bow.. those lights are brutal. I'm starting my smn book's lights and barely hit the first stage it feels so epic. At least Alex maps can be acquired through daily quests, soldiery maps, hunt points and fates. Also has a physical number you can see. Lights, you're constantly looking in the view glass, hoping it has evolved after running a bunch of dungeons and stuff to find it still reads 'indistinct' QQ. 75 alex vs 2000 lights... I hope those light points increase haha.

I'm pretty happy to see an alex drop rate/light increase, personally. I still won't be doing a second Zodiac, but this makes catching up on my first much less arduous.

This is good for me as I had almost given up on bothering with finishing my light farming. I held all my alexandrite for months to see if I wanted to use it for Ninja, which I didn't when I decided the job wasn't for me. It left me about a month behind on progression through Nexus stage and have only got to Distinct Activity. Now with more light I might try push myself to complete Nexus and work towards Kaiser on my Mnk

FML I'm 425 off from Nexus. I spent 2 weeks smashing my face against hunts til the point I literally had a mental shut off on New Years Eve and drank myself into oblivion. Woke up with a Novus and stories of how I tried tanking Ifrit HM as a dps. Been at the light grind since then.

It's kind of funny - because the Animus phase may be the most time consuming phase after all of this. 27 dungeons (9 that are under level 50 making them a bit more time consuming). 27 Fates that can take an hour or more. 900 Enemies (many that have 3 spawns top) and 27 Leves (cake walk). Tack on 4,500 soldiery - and I guess it's debateable as to which is worse (Zodiac or Animus). I'd still say Zodiac is likely worse - but who knows - you might have good RNG runs.

Oh, Animus is by far worse than Zodiac.

I still think the lights are the worst, but with the newest update, I'll reserve judgement until we know more.

Thank God. Been stuck on the light phase for my Bard for months, and now I'm at almost the same point with my Ninja. Grinding light is very dumb and I want to be done with it.

I don't really see a reason to increase the Alexandrite drop rate. My problem with getting my Novus is aquiring the materia. Been spiritbinding non stop lately and not getting a single tier 4 det or crit materia.

Since you'll be able to grab a i130 weapon from CT3's loots, I would suggest that you stop wasting your time on Tier IV (which you don't need anyway) and end your Novus here by melding a 3rd stat on your weapon.
Alexandrites being easier to get, it's arguably better to start farming light as soon as possible and remeld your Relic later down the line.

Anyway, the Alexandrites farm was really awful in itself. You had to spend every Soldiery on that (and Allied Seals), preventing you from gearing any alt job.
If you weren't into the Hunt and didn't want to spend all your Soldiery on that, it would take you 1.5-2 months to gather all 75 Alex.

So, yeah, the Alexandrite farm was kinda slow for quite a lot of people.

But at least with Alexandrite you can at least get one a day. And if you want to you have the option of soldiery, hunts, and fates to get more. Currently the only way to get materia is spiritbinding.

Or market board. You don't have to max out two stats either. And as previously mentioned, you can redo the stats later if it really bothers you losing a few dps. I haven't seen a good tier4 in the last 20+ sets of spiritbonding, so I can't imagine trying to do all of the tier4 melds for a novus this way. Guess some people have much better RNG on their sides, however.

You could go with 3 stats. If you really wanna spend 600k to 700k gil on t4 mats move to my sever and I'll sell you some. Going crit, det than acc will not hurt you very much. When you hit the Zodiac stage ALL your stats go up on your weapon to mirror a Level 125 weapon. So,you'll get a bonus on 3 stats not just 2. Good luck.

I don't buy materia. Not paying 600k for something I can do myself lol. I'm more worried that if I "fix" my weapon later i wont end up with the 49crit 35det I see on other peoples weapons.

Guess I'll finish getting my lights on my first weapon...even after having a friend get me 750 lights out of boredom. I don't understand how people have several relic completed with the normal horrible light rate.

I wouldn't be surprised if they doubled the amount of light you get.

I mean everything else was reduced to half or more.

Atma Books - 1500 --> 500
Alexandrite Maps - 800 --> 400
And it sure as hell felt like the drop rate for atma was increased by 50% xD

I have already finished one zodiac, I for one and FOR this. The light farm was a really long grind for content that isn't ran as much anymore. I know there is the current and new content, but the rate at which you got light is by far outshined by hard mode primals.

Your weapon will still rock if you go 3 stats. I went 3 on bard and I see l shortage of DPS. I'm not sure what the point of diminshing returns on crit and det. are? Anyone have a idea?

Ya really we will be 2 relic quest beyond these steps after 2.5 It will be time to let people get up to speed.

Increases to make these take less time are never a bad thing. Thumbs up.

I just got my Animus last night and am beginning this portion of the relic chain for my Behemoth character's Sphairai. The increased drop rate for alexandrite will be most welcomed.
