Maybe cause they are fun battles and not meant to be taken as seriously as the extreme primals?
Maybe they felt like it.
Scared of playing with lower geared people?
Maybe that's where the true challenge lies.
Maybe because the max iLvl hasn't increased at all and they still want things to be accessible. It's not very wise to make it so that barely anyone can join because the iLvl is too high.
So you're saying some people that are willing to do new content aren't item level 100? (mind you this is still 30 levels off from the current cap) Because iLVL100 gear has been out since march of 2014. If you haven't been able to gather 12-13 pieces of gear that is ten months old by doing just about anything in the game, and then hand picking the piece you want, you might be progressing through the game wrong.
Ramuh EX came out when the cap was iLVL 110. His entry is iLVL 85. That's a disparity of 15, which is acceptable I feel. The level disparity between these three new fights and the current iLVL cap is 35-40. This is a HUGE jump.
EDIT: Also that the fights are regressing.
Remember that some people are new, and some might have returned from breaks, like myself.
I returned almost a month ago now and I had ilvl 93. Sure I have spend my time gear grinding and tome farming so I have 100+ now.
But I know, it must be hard to even imagine that anyone would be less than ilvl 100.
If you take a lengthy break from a game, should you expect to be able to do everything that's new all at once upon your return?
You are right, that is a huge gap. And I can bet that there will still be when Heavensward is released.
Just think about it, what ilvl did you have when you made it to lvl 50? And if Heavensward will let you continue to lvl 60 I can't imagine that they want you to stay on lvl 50 content to grind ilvl to 115+ before being able to enjoy the new content.
I think you missed the point of that comparison, that was comparing the 2.3 and 2.5 trials to their ilvl caps which had already existed for three months
Something for the mid tier user to enjoy rather than the hand holding and skipping crystal tower level stuff?
These are the equivalent of hard mode trials, not extreme primals.
The for real reason is that non-extreme content follows a pretty normal progression.
All the 2.4 hard content was ilvl 80, 2.3 was ilvl 70. Now the 2.5 hard content is ilvl 90.
If you expected anything else you must not have been paying attention.
What they probably did when determining difficulty and ilvls was look at the average ilvl of every lv50 character and use that.
Also, you're comparing an optional EX trial to something that is considered mandatory content for story progression. It would be better if you compared Shiva HM's ilvl, which is i80, completely negating your entire argument. I think what you're not noticing is that HM trials, which all of these are comparable to, usually have a significantly lower ilvl requirement than EX trials, which there are none of in 2.5.
Just saying in 2.4 we had Ultros and Hard mode Shiva at 80. A 10 level increase sounds quite decent.
If you want these next 3 "story" trials to be harder, play them on a PS3.....
