I think its because the gear was probably designed about a year ago, but they didn't plan on releasing ninja before expansion a year ago. I think it was a recent decision. So its easier to edit some dyes than make up a bunch of new gear. Dreadwyrm is the same too.
And for soldiery gear mnk had a palette swap with brd, i110 crafted is a palette swap with nin, ST is a palette swap with drg, i80 divine dungeon gear is a palette swap with brd, i90 crafted is a palette swap with brd, high allagan is a palette swap with drg, i90 allagan is a palette swap with drg AND brd (aww mah gawsh!!!)...
Not monk related: HA caster is a palette swap with brd...
See where this is going? You're acting like making mnk and drg ironworks a palette swap was some sort of oversight . Like it was kind of a 'mistake' that has never been made before and that is now going to be repeated with WoD gear... Like, seriously?
PS3 limitations.
SMN and BLM don't even get a palette swap... =_=
Baffling that people still gets shocked by this. It's has always been divided into drg, mnk, brd and caster (and now nin) and there's always at least a pallete swap for each sets dating back all the way to coil 1 even if it's not always the same categories. Coil 1 had brd sharing with mnk and drg. Coil 2 had brd sharing with casters. Sold had monk/nin sharing with bard. Poet had brd sharing with nin while mnk shares with drg.
I'm not supporting this 'laziness' but I don't see se start making completely unique models for each drg, mnk, brd, nin and caster/healer/tank. So I'm actually a bit worried about there being alexander normal and hard mode because the loot will like share the exact same models but the hard mode drops will likely just be dye-able to provide 'incentive' and the majority of players would rather just cry a river of tears and demand nerfs to the hard modes to access to their dye-able glamors instead of just practicing to tackle the content.
I don't realy see the problem. Monk and Ninja are both acrobatic Asian themed classes. Monk and DRG in the same gear set was just dumb and often left the gear looking confused as to what it was. Monk and Ninja in my opinion makes sense together.
We all want more gear styles to pick from but I feel like picking a fight over 2 very similar themed classes using similar gear isn't the way to go about asking.
