So this game and forcing level 50s to run lower level content

I understand the reasoning for this, I really do. But when I am trying to level an alt I am doing it to just get away from the unnecessary stress of well... being level 50. I'm in a DUTY FINDER DD with my husband who is a tank and 2 other people. One person is leveling the other person is grinding his relic drop. My husband is doing a full dungeon run for the exp and this healer farming his relic gets REALLY rude towards us. Starts to spam annoyance emotes to my husband and then it ends up sparking a discussion about how rude WE are for wanting to clear the whole dungeon for exp when he is only there to speed through it.

We got pretty irritated at this guy and it ended up being 35 minutes of listening to his bitching and rude comments and fairly illogical way of speaking... especially how he claims, "Now that SE requires you to do this for relic, this is now a relic dungeon" and tells US to go get our exp outside the dungeon...

It was a HORRIBLE experience. I don't level up lower level chars to deal with level 50 drama. We couldn't even remove him from the party cuz the other dps was laughing at it and refused to kick.

Is this really how things are going to become? Why not make a party finder group to speed run your relics and leave duty finder alone? =/

One of the best things I like about FFXIV is there's so many ways to get exp in this game and I like to mix it up. Dungeon runs sometimes, fate runs another times, questing other times, hunting/challenge logs. Felt like doing a dungeon this time.

Crappy people are crappy. As tank of a lower level area I'll always full clear if anyone is missing the map achievement* or needs exp; however, I expect people to then respect my time and not have dinner in the middle of the run. That has happened before.. XD "Full clear please" "Yeah ok :)" "Hey hold on guys, Ill be right back about 20 mins for Dinner mom made Pizza" ". . . .-_-".

*Surprising how many people are missing a map achievement for lower level dungeons lol.

I think keeping high traffic is pretty helpful, and that the issue of rude players should be made example of by a punishment from temp, long, to permanent bans from using the Duty Finder. There will still be issues of course, but you gain something you lose something - like stopping high level players from doing low level content would probably increase dungeon queues drastically and low level players would rarely be able to use it as a content. "Oh I'm sorry you started playing 5 months too late, no one wants to do that anymore - go use FATES". XD


Sorry for your experience though, something about people claiming rights to your freedom kills the mood... ;P. (time/freedom).

In a sense... there IS zero reason to run dungeon for exp.... fate give way mroe exp.

Fates are more tedious and less rewarding that dungeon runs and dungeons aren't contingent on how many people are on the server doing fates at the same time.
If you're a tank or healer, dungeon runs are far more efficient.


That said, if someone behaves the way the guy in the OP did, votekick him.

Low level roulette absolutely destroys FATE xp.

Should have reported that other dps, I think. The one guy was toxic and you had every right to kick, but doesn't matter how funny the dps thought it was, his behavior was just as bad for forcing you to put up with it. He's guilty of just as much harassment as the one making all the fuss.

(I'm assuming that he was just not casting a vote and letting it time out, since in a 4-player dungeon all it would take is two votes. Even so, I'm not sure why the system wouldn't at least count the votes that were cast. )

Unfortunately they (development) rather spend time and resources on cute stuff (See weddings and the pseudo golden saucer coming) vs. actual playable content.

Why haven't any new simple delivery quest hubs been added since launch? Why does questing just abruptly come to an end making leveling 2nd + jobs a chore and "rinse / repeat"? There is enough doing the same thing over and over at 50 so running the same dungeon, fates, and leves to get XP are horrible and boring ways to level additional jobs. These don't even need to be story based as the majority of the quests you do up to 50 have zero meaning on the world and just provide a time sink and way to gain XP for leveling (Fetch Quests for example).

Get you facts straight, you're several patches late. Dungeons give exactly the same exp/time spent ratio than FATEs now. The fastest way to exp is to do leves while waiting for a dungeon (but while ignoring low density rooms like the cell in sastasha, or the first secondary room in DD which has only one mob)

If you and your husband were voting to dismiss the healer, the laughing DPS wouldn't matter. Something's not right.

seems both people were in the wrong.

you were low lvl and wanted to lvl and thought it was more important and straight up said no.

healer said he was higher lvl and relic was more important and straight up said no.

neither said even gave each other any consideration. in my eyes both sides are wrong.

same to you. DD first room grinds are the fastest way to lvl.

The Mods on here already came out and said that majority rules in DF instance disputes. So if the majority wanted to earn EXP. then the healer was in the wrong, and could have been kicked/replaced legitimately. It's how the rules work apparently.

You are wrong.

I feel your pain. Arguing with that kind of player will just make you feel even more frustrated though. I usually just leave the dungeon and work on something else while on cooldown.

I would suggest running dungeons with people you know (Free Company, Linkshells). That's what I do, and I really don't miss Duty Finder, at all.

But the game design doesn't make people into jerks. The relic quests are bringing just as many friendly level 50s to that content, I'm sure you'll meet some of them in your adventurers.
