Ironworks Bard gear dilemma....

Hello

So I've been upgrading my bard with the new ironworks gear and have come to a point with the body, legs, and feet where I'm not seeing the point in upgrading those from Auroral gear, or at least it doesn't make sense to me the stats they have. Anyway heres the deal:

If I upgrade the body and legs I would lose 40 determination and 41 crit
Dex would go up 6 on each of those

If I upgrade the feet I would lose 25 skill speed but gain 27 crit
Dex would go up 3

I would gain 75 acc on the body and legs, my current acc is 488

So I'm not sure what to do, that loss of 40 det and 41 crit is what has me concerned

Focus on getting the mask, boots, choker, and ring first. They become BiS when upgraded.
The belt and vambraces make for some nice placeholders if you're good for accuracy.
You'll be better off with a pentamelded Kirimu Coat and Brais since they have the same stats and can be melded with lots of crit rate.

I already have the mask, choker, belt, vambraces, earrings, ring, and bracelet. Was just mainly the body, legs, and feet I'm not sure what to do about...Those crafted items with melds are way to expensive, and I dn't have my craft high enough to hq those yet...

Meanwhile I do have the Ironworks chest.... glamoured. The actual item goes to my bard retainer LOL (already IL119)

if you're doing coil and far away from t13(body) or t12(legs) I'd suggest to get the kirimu coat and pentameld it. Or follow what Ooshima suggested, just wait for WoD :)

the iron vest and pants are just horrible horrible gear. complete waste of poetic.

Kirimu coat is the answer!

HQ Kirimu Coat penta melded will solve your problem. 41 yummy accuracy + 36crit+26det. $_$

also for bard it is more beneficial to stack your iron rings. 1 Augmented Iron ring+1 iron ring. for the accuracy and crit. (22SS ring? no but no thanks!). remember that you need to hit 535 acc cap. you are way below the cap.

for the pants continue using the HA pants they are really good. till you get t12 drop (hopefully). dread pants are bis.

(the iron boots are also bis. so get those first i say)

This is on the assumption you're not doing FCOB or SCOB since you haven't mentioned Dreadworm or High Alagan gear. If you aren't too interested in doing the coils, you don't need to worry about accuracy. If you are interested in coil, you would want to hit that 535 accuracy cap mentioned above.
The feet are one of the best Ironworks gear. Belt and Helmet are good too.

I suggest getting those first. Choker and Ring (2 of them when you can upgrade with the new crystal tower) are the only accessories worth getting.
Until you can upgrade one of the rings, Ramuh Ring is good too. Shiva Bracelet is good.

If you can't afford to penta meld Kirimu Coat and Pants, you should keep the Auroral. The Auroral body piece is very very good.
(If you can get the High Alagan pants from turn 8 those are decent too).

If you want to do coil, the only way to do Coil with respectable DPS while maintaining the accuracy cap is pentamelding the Kirimu Top and Pants. (Meld all crit for optimal results)

1 Dex is about 4~4.5 Det/Crit. The loss of the Det/Crit with the Iron works Body and Legs are not worth it, and a total waste of poetics that will make you weaker.

Skill Speed is basically a worthless stat and should never be accompanied with accuracy. The only time you should use any gear with skillspeed on it is if it is accompanied with crit or det as the other stat.

TBH... Dreadwyrm chest isn't that great either.

If WoD chest is Acc-Crit or Crit-Det it's an instant winner perhaps.

Yup. Was disappointed with the Dreadworm chest piece. Looking forward to the new WoT gear but at Ilvl 120 (I assume) it would be pretty hard to beat out a pentamelded kirimu coat. I hope it looks cool though lol

I agree a 120 piece will probably have a hard time beating out a pentamelded 110, but it couls be a good placeholder for players lacking the gil/ability to make them. Also if they keep the concept of ST where alot of pieces that didn't have acc on they're soldiery counterparts had acc on them. Since the awesome combination of ss/acc already exists in form of the poetics chest, I assume (hope) the WoD piece will have something along acc/det or acc/crit. ^^

I'm sure the WoD chest and leg pieces would be excellent placeholders because anything would be better than the Iron Works chest and leg pieces lol

Really... I think the Ironworks set probably looks the best, I don't dig the WoD set. I'd rather you keep your Dreadwyrm set lol.

Unless there are new vanity crafts avail in 2.5...

Hello, thanks for the input, yes I should have mentioned I'm not really that interested in doing coils. I did turn 5 but just didn't really seem that fun....So the consensus is that if I'm not doing coil I'll go ahead and keep my current gear and just get the Ironworks boots, that's what I was edging towards anyway for now. Everybody seems to say to stay away from SS just seems so slow at times when the abilities are recycling...Anybody know what the formula is for the reduction in time for SS, I did some digging and supposedly 10 SS knocks only .01 seconds off? Is that correct? If thats the case, yeah pretty worthless stat alright lol

Okay so I did a test with a stop watch with the boots off and on which would be a reduction of 25 skill speed, so in my case anyway with my reaction time and what I saw on the stop watch the difference wasn't even negligible.....

Really if you aren't doing coil... None of the min maxing really matters and you can go for pure iLvl upgrades and be able to do any of the content you want. Yes there will be more optimal setups but you don't need them for dungeons and CT raids to do adequate DPS for the content.

Now if you want to min max because you find it fun go for it! Knowing your class and how they work will make you a better player and a good dps player is very noticeable. My point is for what you are doing it isn't required so don't agonize about not having BIS or the gil to drop on a max melded crafted piece if you can't reasonably afford it.

All this...agree!!

I ended up getting 110 melded chest and legs. Ironworks everything else. Unfortunately, I'm sitting on massive accuracy and little else lol.

Gear upgrades for BRD... something our static doesn't have an issue with. Every time a boss dies it has always dropped 1-2 pieces of BRD loot....
