REQUESTED CLASS

This is probably a bit far fetched, but I would really like some homage for a unique weapon class. This weapon class would be a Whip class. This being the main weapon that Instructor Quistis Trepe used in FF8. Some may see this weapon class as a joke, or a non-direct form of perversion, but I really enjoyed the concept of her weapon. Having this kind of class would add something different to the game FFXIV:ARR. We are kind of limited on melee classes. Most of which are weapons such as swords or daggers. A class such as the Whip would be melee, but from a slightly further distance. In this instance they could be a DPS/Healer at the same time from not having to be up close to use the weapon. Aswell as thinking that Quistis did have some form of magic that she did use, and she was not a mage. What do you guys think? Any "Trepies" out there?

Quistis was a Blue Mage.

Oh, my bad. Well that's even better. It's still in a way of DPS/Healer. Since there is cross class actions.

At the time there is only 3 roles in the game. DPS healer doesn't fit the mold, so until they change the mold, I don't see this happening.

One can only hope..

Blue Mage using whips would be cool, but seeing some hyper buff Highlanders or Roe's with leopard print underwear and whips would send me the other way.

I would love a whip DPS job.

haha in all seriousness. SE has already proven that they are not willing to make jobs that can be both heals/dps. They have also stated that they did not like how the only heals/dps class turned out (acn), and that they would not go down that road again.

Blue mage is a very difficult class to put into an MMO universe because of 1 major issue. Traditionally, blue mages get their new spells/abilities from enemies they find in the open world. They are not related to a character's level in any way. This doesn't jive well with the standard MMO abilitiy progression. If they do find a way to do it, then it will either be extremely innovative, or a massive lore killer.

If I wanted to find a job that could use a whip as a weapon, I would think of something like a Trainer from FFX-2. They didn't use whips, but they are common item for training animals. Only problem is we alrdy have a pet class so........

The weapon that Ivy used from soul calibur that could go back and forth between a sword and a chain whip comes to mind when i think about it. That weapon could even break apart into multiple pieces during some attack animations :) Pretty sweet

And the chain whip IS what this thread is about. The whips that Quistis used in FFVIII were mostly of the chain whip variety.
