I've never bothered with the allied stuff before, but seen a nice gear set I want to save up for. The problem is I never seem to get many seals :s Thank you :)

The best way to get Allied Seals from hunts is to join a group. Otherwise you'll get so few.
Go to a major city or Mor Dhona and shout politely asking if anyone has a linkshell for hunt sightings.
Be proactive and hit every rank A and S you can while also making the regular hunts part of your daily activities.
Gathering hunt currency is a slow process, but this is the best I can think of to help make the grind manageable.
Why the prices of allied gear haven't dropped yet I'll never know.
I hope they offer more ways to get Allied Seals, such as that system for managing a Grand Company unit they mentioned in one of the Live Letters.
I always thought it was a bit insane to offer very expensive vanity gear with the same currency used to purchase myth gear (20 levels better and astonishingly cheap) and upgrades for (at the time) top tier gear. Even when everyone was hunting all the time it was no small feat to get enough seals for a vanity set, never mind that seals could (and can) be used for useful things.
I just want the alexandrite price to drop to 50 or 20 seals even.
Just started going after allied seals, and my first thought is "Why is the i100 gear cheaper than the i70 gear?" Is it just because it's your GC?
I even started going after the seals because I saw there was a difference in gear between the GC's, so I switched GCs and started hunting! I was thinking "Go with the pirates" when the choice first came up, but went with Ul'dah because I started there! *sigh* If I had only known they had gear that wasn't basically the same! :(
I actually initially thought the GC gear was iLVL 110 or something when I first discovered it due to the cost verses the Sol gear. It really should be around HALF the price it is for the sets to have some validity for the kevel they are.
Hunts are just terrible things right now, I almost wish they were handled more like levequests then open-world enemies. Before I switched to PS4, they were barely even possible to participate in.
Pretty much this. On Leviathan, most A hunts are on a relatively set and unified spawn time. When you join an A rank group, chances are there's going to be another spawn within 10min... then another... then another. The downtime after all of them are down before the next spawn happens is maybe an hour or so. Sure, not everyone is going to have the time to do every one of them, but who said you need to? Just doing a few A hunts a week alone will reduce those 8 months by more than half.
Honestly though, I don't understand why the idea of vanity costing a lot of time/effort to get is lost on people. Think about it... cash shop = vanity. Nutkin, Fat Cat, etc pets all costing more than any progressive gear (combat, crafting, gathering). Unlike actually useful gear for combat progression, there is no impending rush on vanity that's (for all we know) going to always be there.
OT but i'd love for Alex to be a currency to trade and acquire materia. I've got a full stack of the stuff. I'd love to use it to help me get some materia to do my second zodiac, that way I can actually do the maxed out version instead of the cheap mans version. I did the maxed out one for my WAR, that was one hell of a trip. SBing 24/7 for a long time ugg.
Little closer to topic, as far as notes rewards. They need to just put sands/oils of time in the damn hunt vendor, and get rid of this blood-log crap. Why add a extra step, when there is already redundant steps after you acquire the stuff? Get allied notes> trade for blood logs > trade for sands > trade to upgrade weapon/armor. Really? smh They need to go back to how the first gearing up worked. Philosophy for Darklight/Ilvl70, Myth for Ilvl90. Upgrade process is just convoluted imho, and can be very confusing to new people. Hey new guy that's right you got to talk to 4 separate npcs in order to get your gear...
Yeap, you might die if you pull hate of the tank. Playing Bard in hunts ,you wanna keep your dots up just to stop other players from placing their dots. Hunts have a limit of dots they'll take, if I understand this right. If all else fails "Pull first" and hope you dont die, otherwise no Seals for you. I dont recommend doing this if you wanna make friends....lol
I'm hoping they move all the hunt items to GC items. How many types of currency does one game need?
Just add a GC rank, put them all there, and make hunts drop GC seals.
