What numbers should an I110 Bard bring in T10?

Hoi there! Usually tanking this fight, was asked to Bard as we had an abundance of tanks, so I'm a but curious how far I am from being a "real bard".

With Risotto and no Dragoon, was pretty consistantly at 316-319 on my DPS. It feels low to me, though it's not my main, it's using a Diamond bow, and I can't really imagine much I can do to push out more damage, aside from start investing in Poe gear, or grinding out some niche SCOB gear to push a few things forward. But I'm open to suggestion.

I'd imagine you can easily get 350-380 at i110 with an i115 weapon, but diamond bow is really bad.

Depends on config. On my alt character I did 411 in t10 @ close to i110. May have been i112 or so. But in that party there was a DRG so you have to factor in the 6% or so boost from disembowel. 94% of 411 is 386. I don't have time at work to review the video and check for deaths, amount of Paeon usage, etc, but I imagine there was at least 1/2 a bar of Paeon due to MNK + DRG melee config.

576 Dex, 428 Crit, 276 Det, 513 Skill speed. It's basically all Auroral Set, except for Bow and Feet. And a Weathered Auroral Ring/True Ice bracelet.

And again, there was no Dragoon, so that buff wasn't around.

You have so much SKS that TP should be a problem you are having, and playing Paeon kills you dps anyway.

You really need to itemize better as well, take the hit and farm SCoB or get some crafted items.

I am no BRD expert, but i understand the class. With similar gear but a different bow (HA) I do around 440-450 on Turn 8 playing one Paeon. If you take away echo that is around 396 ~ or so, considering that Turn 10 has a few mechanics that prevent damage I would still say that you could easily be around 350+ with your current set up.

I remember my early clear was IL106 (3 crafted accessories for the HP, prepared future turns in advance) with IL115 weapon was slightly over 400. I have a DRG in party though.

I did have tp issues. I was of the impression that was better to wait for Invigorate to pop than activate Paeon if your the only one needing it. But yeah, generally sometime after the first Invig i get a little dry, then it's usually up... then between 2nd and third invig, there's probably a good 10 seconds or more where I'm bone dry.

Well, perhaps I need to go back to school then. I know I'm dusty as hell on Bard... but aside from keeping DOT's up, and popping cooldowns when their up not sure there is much more nuance to it. I suppose I could put DOT's all all four son/daughters before focusing on one. Unfortunately I have no gil for crafted items, as I'm helping to fund a house for the FC.

I would highly recommend that when you can afford it to swap out Soldiery Coat for Kimiru and overmeld that sucker with materia.
Or perhaps some crafters in your FC can help out? It did cost me a bit (2.5 mil) lol
Some of the ironworks gear would help as well, but i avoid some of it as it does not work with my build
I myself usually just invigorate and if desperately need Paeon then can play that, again situation dependant.

Ideally, you should be doing 400+ DPS without any deaths and if you have a DRG/NIN in your party. 370-380 should be the minimum if you're singing songs like Mage's Ballad or Army's Paeon more than once.

For dealing with the son & daughter pairs, I just DoT the first pair being focused before focusing on the specific mob. The second add phase can be different depending how your group handles them (either do one pair like the first add phase, or one daughter and son from both pairs). Getting both your DoTs on two adds is all you need since you have to focus those adds down quickly.

As for your gear, the less skill speed you have the better you are. Ideally, you want to have a 2.47s GCD recast on your BRD to make it easier to weave in two off-GCD skills. Pairing up our buffs contributes a lot to our DPS.

I just dot the pair of adds that we are currently working on. There are certainly ways to pad your personal DPS more like dotting all 4 adds with WB and maybe throwing VB on the two that are being focused, but I'd rather just focus down the first pair then move to the second.

My alt has no crafted items except for a few accessories for vit that I only use for t13. If you are the only one needing TP I have found it better to not Paeon, but there is a chance your melee may have benefited. Could always ask them. I would assume they didn't ask you for it, but perhaps they just aren't very vocal.

You should multi-dot if you can but you have to judge how well your fellow DPS are performing. For example, if at the 2nd set of adds you guys are barely scratching the time to kill a set of daughter and son before the next pair spawn, then you might want to dot the 2 daughters only.

But if your other DPS are decent to good, you can go ahead and spread more.

BRDs looks really simple on the surface but there is quite a few tinny winny bits of optimizing per fight. For example, after both your DoTs expire out on the adds you could re-DoT them again but then did you apply both of the DoTs always? If you have been re-DoTing both then you might be doing the wrong thing. When re-applying you should gauge how much remainder HP it has and how fast the HP is dropping. If it is dropping too fast, it wouldn't be wise to even reapply because it might not even tick enough to justify the TP cost and you might be better using Heavy shot instead. If there is enough time for 2-3 ticks only then you might want to load 1x Venomous Bite because it have a heavier front load and skip Windbite.

Managing your CD reapply DoTs with CD as much as possible is also part of BRD's skillset, together with the quick reaction to fire off BL procs ASAP helps too. Straighter Shot procs should be fired off as the next GCD skill if your next GCD skill was originally Heavy Shot. However if you got a SS proc and your next GCD move should be reapplying DoTs, then you should reapply DoTs and fire off the BL proc later. Some BRDs don't and think that all procs should be fired off immediately and let their DoTs drop as a result, which is wrong. Also, sometimes you get a HS proc and you will have your RS or Hawk's Eye CD up in the next 1-2s, you can also choose to hold out and use your HS proc with CD (since HS proc is a guaranteed crit).

There's often a lot of little on-the-fly decisions you have to make on what GCD skill you should use next and how you should weave and use your CD, and this adds up eventually to your DPS.

Well I keep hearing people say Diamond Bow is crap. I ain't going after HA or Relic... and only thing else i got is Rosenbogen, and I'm assuming the I115 Diamond is better. Again, this is a job I pretty much never play, so I'm appreciating the tips.

Diamond Bow is indeed crap because it is ACC/SS. The very reason why we hate our Poetics chest and pants pieces because they are ACC/SS. Rosenbogen won't be better than the Diamond Bow, so you would still be better off with Diamond.

I'd take the Diamond Bow over the Rosenbogen any day. Both aren't really the greatest as they have a significant amount of skill speed on them that would be much nicer if it were crit or det, but the Diamond Bow has a 2 WD advantage. The acc can be useful too depending on what your gear options are. The HA bow would be a not insignificant upgrade but it sounds as though gear isn't really the only issue. Perhaps just talking with and observing other BRDs will do just fine.

Dot uptime. Buff uptime. Smart clipping of dots. Strafe so you always face boss and never lose auto attacks. Multi dot start with the 1st set the party attacks. Put flame arrow under the other set along with the dots.

U can get unlucky and get constantly blue marked too. again the strafe is important here while u are going to the mark for charge. Don't run there facing away from boss, strafe to the mark.

As u are new to bard I ask do u keep a good eye on ur buffs? Do you refresh dots when u gain a new buff? Do you clip dots before a buff runs out? Gotta be careful with tp here tho, as taking dot clipping to an extreme is tp rape but if your with a melee, and especially a monk, you will be playing paeon anyways.

Suggest you farm a t9 bow for now, too can't be that hard to get?

Really? Can't check til I get home, but I could swear that I played some Aerial Flow this week which is Vocaloid. :P

324 is where i'm hanging with new ring and pants from T8. I have nasty habit of reapplying DOT's too early. The new gear dropped my SS to 482 i think.. still tp starved at times.

Not REAL new to bard... I just shelved it with Nexus quest, more or less cause of stupid lights. That and there's seldom call for me to be anything but a tank.

Evidently now i'm 330.
