2.5 new gear speculation

Yoshi P has mentioned that 2.5, due for release in mid to late January, will include 'new gear for gatherers and crafters'. Our rings are definitely due for an update, and I'm wondering if perhaps they'll introduce an artisan body for use across all crafts. Perhaps some other accessories will be updated too, I'm thinking no new offhands though as they just came in. Don't think they'll upgrade our main tool till heavensward either, but I could be wrong. Thoughts?

I think you are right with body being upgraded in 2.5, wether this is through crafting it yourself or gained In the same manner as the artisan glasses is another thing (i remember it being suggested in one of the fan fest events that ther would be something in 2.5 to help all those who joined in april with the ps4 release catch up to those of us who have been playing for longer). Ther could potentially be a 5 ilvl increase in main hand possibly, they have made obtaining the master demis easier for an entire patch, so potential increase in main hand is a possibility (maybe a slight one). I suppose it will all come down to wether the new recipes in 2.5 require higher craft/cont thresholds to start them, i doubt they will, but if they did it would require some ilvl increases in the crafting gear we have :).

Body probably, but I don't see the rings being upgraded any time soon. Not unless they go through and give more upgrades to the new i55 accessories as well, which I also really doubt they're going to do.

Artisan's body 100% sure. Most likely new i80 main hands as well. They already introduced one of them with the i80 fishing rod, and since the message said new crafting AND gathering gear, and we already have fully upgraded gathering gear, the only thing left is an i80 mainhand for miner and botanist to go with the i80 mainhand we got early for fisher.

New rings to replace the really, really old Aetheryte Ring (only non-green/blue gear left that's BiS for DoH/DoL) would be a nice addition that isn't totally out of the question, either. Yoshi-P has said he wants to ease up on crafting for newer crafters, and the best way to give crafters a break is give them more CP to play with.

I just hope they do NOT troll us and release new Lv70 class-specific hands/legs/shoes that would make the cross-class Artisan/Forager gear obsolete.

Artisan body would be nice, not sure we`re getting anything more than that.

i did hear yoshi dropped a bomb recently that was obtaining doh/dol gear from tombs and since i haven't seen the i80 fishing rod till someone mention it in this thread i would say that i80 main hands must be close. With that being said i would venture to say that the new artisans chest (or equivalent, probably IW) will actually be obtained either through poe tombs or a new tome introduced specifically for doh/dol gear. Start saving!

Pure speculation alert!
The gathering gear set is pretty much complete, and indeed surplus to current needs (except maybe for fisher). What kind of gear exist for both DOL and DOH? Could it be new replacements for Supras? The original supras, after all, were a hug investment of time (and gil and mats) for fairly small stat gains. Perhaps we will get new main-hands that require the supras in some way? In any case, aetheryte ring is long overdue for replacement...

rings, wrist and body are what will probs be upgraded for crafters.

I don't expect a main hand tool for them but maybe they will do an ironworks tool set but really after all the work people put in getting the current supras they should continue to build on those rather than just annoy everyone.

gatherers will probs be new tools alone considering there gear is now pretty even, plus unless they add new nodes again they already have stats that are above what is needed to gather anything in game.

plus anyway there's really no need for new higher level gear now before the expansion as they have already said they plan to ease of on top tier crafting recipes in favour for a more balanced bunch for all level of crafters to tackle.

that being said good chance we will see the i110 crafted jewellery.

gsm is coming back next patch for sure with the i110 accessories. i feel alchemist needs a boost in being relevant in the game for 4 stars.

expectation and wishful thinking:

- new pots. poison/dex/str/mind/...etc X2-Pot of Dexterity. ((Can I Have It?)) lol
- new crafted primal weapons. Levi, Shiva, Ramuh. i115
- new crafting rings.

some of the recipes will use new Demimateria IVs :D

3x Demimateria III Battle.
1x Demimateria IV Battle.

Yeah we are definitely getting new GSM-made ilv110 accessories for DoW/DoM.
It's gonna be really hard to hit the VIT/STR/... caps on the accessories using grade IV or lower materia though.

BSM / CRP / ALC are probably getting new recipes for weapons... They hardly had any worthy recipe with the Master Book II on patch 2.4, while LTW and WVR get like over 20 recipes each!

Item level 115 for weapons seems low since you can already have that from Shiva anyway, with very little effort and guaranteed drops for the upgrade...

I hope we get recipes for level 120 (or 125) weapons, using materials dropped on the new CT (World of Darkness).
This would make crafted weapons relevant for a while, specially for alt-classes/jobs, and also would make sense since the new CT gear is probably gonna be ilv 120 anyway.

Last time crafted weapons were any relevant was during patch 2.0 and maybe 2.1...
Having them at level 115 or any lower imo means wasting development resources, just like it was with the lv95 primal weapons.

I actually doubt that. The reason the i80 was included for Fisher was to give it another progression step - every other class got a new Offhand introduced.

Anyway, I wouldn't actually expect it. To my recollection of the recent Live Letters, they actually don't want to dump more progression onto crafters at the moment because Heavensward is coming, and they were going to instead focus on helping players catch up (the Artisan item requirement reduction for instance). Which would make sense given we're probably going to be expecting to be replacing everything when Heavensward hits. If there's plans to trade tomes for Crafter gear, I can see this fitting in - items like the Ehcatl Gloves that function as "not best in slot but still really good crafter gear"

hmmm everyone is assuming by default that gsm will have new accessories for DOW/M i110. hmm come to think of it. they are not currently needed for the existing content. i90 is more than enough to meet the vit requirement for t13. yeah i110 will have better stats. but... again its just a temporary thing till you get your fcob drops. (more gear up via poetics... etc).

currently i dont see the need for such accessories. unless new savage is introduced with 2.5

so maybe GSM will have new crafting recipes for rings or/and bracelets. for crafting jobs.

Alchemist still need adjustment honestly. we need higher tier of pots!

The "rest" of the Artisan's gear amounts to one piece of gear - the body piece. If that was really the only new crafting/gathering related piece of gear being added, they wouldn't have even bothered mentioning "NEW CRAFTING AND GATHERING GEAR!" in the New Year's Letter as if it was a thing to get excited about. But they did. And they specifically said new gathering gear. We have the full forager's set. The only new gathering gear that would even be remotely likely is i80 mainhands for Miner and Botanist, even though they are admittedly unnecessary to hit current node caps. And if they're going to give us i80 gathering mainhands, the likelihood of i80 crafting mainhands to go alongside them (as they usually do) increases dramatically. Just throwing us a body piece isn't enough to warrant an announcement, and I expect Supra upgrades.

The other possibility is a whole new pile of Ehcatl i70 gear purchasable with oaknots that is on-par-but-not-quite with Artisan's to make gearing up for 4-star easier for newer crafters.

I'm thinking...

- Artisan Vest
- i70 accessories to replace ones that are currently capped at i55
- Possibly i80 main tools for MIN, BTN and all DoH to match the i80 FSH one
- Some new recipes that are actually useful for those incredibly ridiculous 4-star master DoH recipe books we bought

ilvl60 accessories/belt that cost a combined 10M worth of items, for a total gain of 4 craftsmanship, 7 control, and 6 CP.

I personally hope they release new class specific crafter/gatherer body armors in the next patch. Everyone looking the exact same on multiple jobs just sucks.

There is glamour for that. I personally like having one piece I can use on all classes.

The sad thing is after what they released in 2.4, that is a very believable prediction, although it will probably be a body piece instead of a belt.

I'd expect a 5 ilvl increase to supra tools and maybe the artisan body piece. Gatherers can already easily gather anything in the game without all the best gear available, but they will be adding new gems, or at least some sort of material to make the new i110 accessories so new nodes are pretty much certain (well, likely 1-2 new nodes for MIN and BOT each, as well as some fish). I don't think they'll mess with the accessories again. The old aetheryte rings are the same ilvl as everything else and I don't see them replacing the relatively new dodore/ mosshorn/ rose gold items.

There isn't glamor for that when you dislike having 8 jobs that all look the same. While I adore the extra space I have from the Artisan gear the limitations of our current glamor system negate that joy for me.

this is pretty much why i wont even bother with the artisian set. I really hope they do not continue this pattern with the expansion

Can you not make more than one and glamour them differently? I guess I just assumed you could and making more than one would be no different than making a bunch of different class specific ones like you want. If you can't do that, then my mistake. I don't glamour a lot.

do you guys think it will be 3-stars requirement to make the new accessories ? or four stars -,-

It will almost definitely be 4 star for the new accessories.

But in theory if they were to introduce 8 new class specfic body pieces, it would be a similar level synth, therefore probably taking roughly the same level of resources/gil. The point is, we have the best of both worlds right now. People that want one piece to cover 8 classes have that. People that care about looking different and want to craft 8 different body pieces also have that via glamour.

Well to be honest.
The cross class artisan set is rather genius.
It is the most succinct way in increasing all the crafting classes in 1 hit.
They will most definitely complete this set with the main body, perhaps even change the wrists and rings.

I doubt they will reduce the hand-in requirements for the Supra's even further.

One of the things they will most probably look at is reducing the Echatl Sealant costs.
Since the Artisan Offhand requires these to be crafted, this will be a surefire way to allow crafters access to these offhands much easier and through that increase their crafting competence.
