What is SE stance in people selling runs?

I see it quite often, I am in Mor Dhona minding my own business when I see people shouting about selling runs, or see it clogging up party finder. As annoying as this is, that people who may have acquired gill through dodgy means go and spend it on a dodgy clear... one guy got into an argument with another claiming to have made 120m in a week.. etc.... it's really shady where this gill originates. Now another concern I have is that when people offer these purchased clear more often than not they fail to list prices, are they even selling for gill?... If I had the power I would ban anybody buying or selling wins with in game currency or any other, but not everybody has this opinion like me and I don't know what SE take is on all of this?

official word is "we don't want players to get illegitimate clears" (ie, clears they didn't work for) but selling runs has nothing against ToS. And will never have.

Which means it's perfectly safe to sell runs

Yup. SE officially doesn't like, nor endorses it, but they're only going to majorly concern themselves with cases where real world currency is getting exchanged for in-game services or goods. So long as it's all virtual currencies and services being exchanged, they ultimately don't care what you do with your gil.

Most content that you can actually buy a clear of and be carried through isn't terribly relevant anyway anymore - good luck buying a clear of Savage Coil or Final Coil, for instance.

So, technically if somebody is offering selling runs but isn't making it clear the currency is gill, shouldn't these players be investigated? It is real shady that people are discussing prices privately.

Do people still sell runs? I mean, when I was still doing relic quests, I'd pay somebody to give me 100soldieries.

Prices are discussed privately so that if a person only wants to know the price of say, Ifrit EX, they dont have to read a 20 line macro that lists all the prices for every primal/coil/etc that's clogging up the shout chat.

And it doesn't need to be stated the prices are in gil. Trading real money for in game runs is a form of RMT, so you'd run the risk of a ban. Very few people would want to run that risk.

People buy for a lot of reasons. Time/Real life commitments/Can't find 7 other people competent enough/etc, and not everyone is enthusiastic about that soldiery bonus when it comes to coil/ex primals based on some threads here.

also there are people selling T10, T11 and even T12 and T13 or so I've heard. Primals (especially titan) are always selling because people want the loot for themselves

They also do not list prices as a bait tactic, a lot of these sales are going to people who, a) are frustrated with trying to beat the content through non-paid means, b) have excess gil due to being merchants primarily, c) leaves the option of alternate currency available.

In all these cases the buyer is very likely to over value the service which plays in the favor of not listing a price. I've seen people happily pay 15m for a T9 win loot not included. I've seen the same group sell the same win for 2m loot included in the same week.

I'm pretty sure SE like run selling as it helps with locating RMTed funded players and probably particularly helps locating players who sell gil. If you requested every run seller you can think of to have their gil investigated I promise at least one of them would get banned for selling gil.

Of course there are players who like to watch ingame currency grow and grow with no use for it....

I'd like to see a successful carry in T12/T13 out of curiosity, since those fights are designed to give you extra hurdles if there's anyone dead on the field when mechanics are due.

fixed it. perhaps SE could setup a mercenary board separate from party finder to keep selling out the pf that has an area to set specifics. it can be transparent to make sure everybody is doing things without going against ToS. Just throwing it out there.. where things aren't transparent there is trouble.

There is nothing specifically wrong with people who have cleared and mastered content offering mercenary services for people who want to get certain items or clear content quickly. As long as they are not trading for real money and really if they do something so dumb they deserve the ban they will eventually get. Some people have bought up a point that it encourages Gil selling but there is little evidence to link groups selling runs to Gil selling they are usually using their profits to buy in game things. Personally i don't see Merc groups any different from a Crafter they worked to become skilled at what they do and can get people what they want in exchange for profits but nobody every complains about Crafters making millions of Gil. They are also common customers of Merc groups since some people never wanted to be more than a Crafter and don't have interest in clearing content except for things they need.

I bought my large house because i sold a lot of runs.
There are crafters who hasn't enough time to invest on static or prefer waste his time checking MB. Then they put a few gils over the table and get the kill.
