Can Bio/Bio II miss as a SCH/SMN?

I am asking this question for my SCH who is ready to DPS on T12 but is pretty much below the accuracy cap by a lot.

I've heard that Bio/Bio II can't miss because they don't have initial potency. But a SMN friend said the missed Bio on T9 because his Fester only did way below what his fester usually does. Now I'm stuck between two hearsays.

Can you cite source for your assertion? Thank you.

I have no source but my own experience, and from my Second coil farming I've never once seen it miss. The SMN might have used fester without bio being registered on the enemy or it just fell off.

If it doesn't have an initial potency it indeed can't miss.

He Festered too soon. It takes about a whole second for Bio to apply, and unless you throw in a non-GCD first you basically just have to wait it out.

ACN and it's jobs can't miss with any of its abilities except for Shadow flare or SS, but those are on the player side if those miss.

That's not true. The Ruins, Miasmas, Fester, Energy Drain, and anything the pet does can all miss.

Just to add to this, you don't need a source. Have your friend test it on a target dummy.

Cast bio then immediately queue a fester. It'll return a "has no effect" message and do zero damage. Then try again but with a slight pause between the two casts.

I can't say for the pet, because it's hard to watch them during a fight. But I've been playing SMN/SCH since before 2.0 and I can say without a doubt I've never seen the miss message fly text come up once when playing either job.

Then you've never done anything where you've been under the acc cap.

SMN/SCH can very easily miss. It only starts to become apparent when you DPS in SCoB/FCoB, but you'll start to see an 85-90% hit rate on SCH even with some ACC gear.

This could be true. I never been able to get into SCoB, because I've always been in bad groups for turn 5. :/

I've had my Miasma miss kiting when I forgot to equip the correct boots.

It sucked.

Same happened to me. Sucked pre-nerf when you got a club to the face.
But yeah, non-initial potency skills can't miss and DoTs can't miss once applied.

I've heard Bane bypasses accuracy as well.
