Please help with i70 tools

Hi All.

I am really struggling with trying to craft HQ Artesian File.

I have all of my crafts at level 50.

My Blacksmith is 409 craft, 381 control and 352 cp.

The issue I am having no matter what rotation I am using I am still coming short, very short. What's worse it is getting depressing wasting so my sealents.

I am trying to use the following rotation but even in the best case scenario this will give about 65% chance of HQ.

What's really bothering me is that the materials are too expensive for me to even practice and improve up on.

I have asked people in game to help but got zero luck. I would like to craft my own gear and believe I should be able to. So far I cannot seem to find any way to craft it in HQ without godly luck.

So if anyone can offer some sound advice please it will be greatly appreciated.

They're just regular 3 star recipes, if you want practice make wolfram ingots with all NQ ingredients.

Okay, so the first thing that I noticed in here is that you are only allowing yourself a maximum of 8 touches. this will never allow for more than a 60% chance of Hq. you have to be sitting at 9-11 stacks of inner quiet minimum to have a chance at 100% hq. I would definitely recommend looking at http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Star-HQ-Macros and adapting from there.

the trick is getting as many inner quiet stack chances as you possibly can. 4 star crafting has really added a use for the reclaim skill. honestly, if you get to the end of your hasty touches, and you are at 9 or less stacks of inner quiet, using ruminate, reclaim, fail will likely be your best choice.

patience and practice is key here. I would recommend some of the 3 star items first, a few times just to practice the rotations. both of the current simulators don't quite do 4 stars correct, so it may be a bit of a learning curve.

Another question to ask, I am able to get a Supra weapon right now. Should I get the BSM supra (currently using the i70 main hand) or get the Supra for another DoH instead like CUL?

I raid often and my CUL is still on i55 main hand tool.

I got Supra for my BSM while i was trying to figure out 3.9 star rotation for master book II , if you have extra gils to burn, why not.

I am in two minds here. I want to have my BSM as strong as possible so I can craft the i70 off-hand toll for the other crafting classes, namely LTW and WVR. But If I was to get the Supra for a class that I have yet to get the i70 main hand tool.

But if I can successfully craft my own hq i70 3 star tools then I will definitely push for the 3.9 and 4 star recopies.

Get supras for jobs you want to 4 star craft in first. It's not required to make 4 stars, but it sure helps.

Supra is not needed to hq 4 star recipe, in fact i would advice you to get artisan cullote, mitten and sandal first. And you can practice 3 star crafting on any 3 star recipe, the cheapest 3 star recipe on my server currently is ancient lumber. Use at least 2 comfort zones.

Is there anything I should watch out for when crafting 3 star recipes?

Reclaim if not enough stacks.

Which server are you on? If Cerberus I'm willing to give you a hand.

Apart from that, what previous poster said about not having enough touches is key. Are you using food when crafting? Hq boullabaise will take you to 395 cp which gives you a lot extra to work with.

For progress I personally prefer rapid synth x3 + 1 careful synth for 3 star. Some will disagree with me on that though.

I use all hasty touches unless I have a ton of cp to burn, I can hit mm2 twice and refresh cz twice most of the time depending on ToT procs. I haven't actually made the tools as I've only mastered ltw and wvr so far but from what I understand they're a standard 3 star synth?

Artisan offhands are the same as 3* crafts, its just that their starting quality pool is incredibly diluted by the sealants (you'd only get 600/4900 max).

I think people have mentioned this; there is no "set rotation" for 3 and 4* crafts due to how CP intensive it can get. However, your starting rotation (CZ and inner quiet) as well as progress abilties should always use the same amount of abilities to finish (such as 1 PbP, 2 RS and 1 CSII). When you can forecast how many steps you need to finish a craft, you can use the rest of your durability on quality increase.

>TotT whenever possible for CP.
> Refresh CZ whenever it falls off, unless you can TotT on that particular step.
> Always keep SHII for hasty and rapid syn
> Ideally you should have enough CP to do two durability restoration abilities (one of them being MMII) Always reserve at least 96 CP for your BB finisher (innovation, SH, GS, BB). Keep this in mind when you decide between MMII or manipulation

This is the general rotation i use for 3 stars. Bare in mind this does not show ToT procks as i tend to change them up depending on how many i get. I never use ToT during the Waste Not phase. If i hit enough ToT in the early stages i will swap out Waste Not for a second Master Mend 2. I like to roll the dice at the start and use PbP without Steady Hands up, this saves me CP especially if i hit some ToT.

You rotation doesn't work because it is very cp intensive.

SHII + HTs till at 20 or 10 dura, remember to repop CZ and use MMII

Use HTs to run out of any stacks left on SHII

SHII = ToT if it proc'd, then WNII. Use HT till SHII runs out, do not use ToT

You should have 4 stacks of WNII left, depending on cp left, decide if you can afford a SHII and you can afford to use 1 ToT, make sure to end it on x5 dura.

Run HTs until you are at 25 dura. SH + GS + Innovation (ONLY if cp allows), if condition is not good or excellent, use CSII which gives you a chance to proc good/excellent. Regardless, you should have 9 or more stacks and this will take you to 85%+.

use CSII to finish synth.

With all of your help, advice and support i was finally able to craft a High Quality Artisan's File.

I used a variation of the following rotation.

No matter what I tried I had to still rely on RNG so I decided I might as well go full RNG and if I mess up I'll reclaim and hope for the best.

I got lucky with my 2xPBP and 5xHT as well as 5xToT. Unfortunately I could not get a Good or an Excellent condition for BB. But since I was able to gain an extra 100 CP I topped up with few extra touches before finishing.

Still after everything I was lucky and managed to HQ it.

Can't think of a better way to start 2015 in Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn.

Just only need 2 ToT to be completed. If you get more tot, you can use basic touch instead of hasty. It's not necessary to say if you don't get enough IQ charge, use reclaim :D.

Though be warned that rotation you listed, is very bad and you were lucky to HQ with it tbh.

If you follow what RiceisNice had said and practice on something cheap (wolfram ingots maybe), you'll get much better at making these.

Get someone to make it for you. Check the MB Sale History on the HQ off hands and track them down (if you know them of course). I started out thinking I was going to collect all the mats and make all the Artisan O/H but once I heard the RNG stories.....

So I started selling sealants and buying the HQ items, thats when I checked and realised I knew someone who does HQ, I approached her with all the materials and she makes it for free (I tried to tip), whereas I would still be selling sealants and losing a LOT of money.

The rotation was put together in the event ToT not landing at the right time and being able to reclaim in the last minute. But I will definitely modify the rotation to add some more touches.

@NationOfZealots It's more of a pride thing. It's true I can ask the other craters on my server to craft the stuff I want but that forces me to miss out on learning about crafting even more.

Nothing says "top tier crafter" like having someone else's name on your gear.

Your missing my point ^^

3* and 4* are not about set rotations, you need to learn to react based on the procs etc you get :)

RiceisNice has listed the rough guidelines for what you need to do, but you need to practice this imho.

E.g. for 70%+ of my crafts I use Masters Mend II twice, allowing for a lot more hatsy touch's etc.

Agreed and I do understand what you both have said. The other thing to point out was that I failed crafting the BSM off hand toll few times before. Just tried a different approach and relied on luck and got lucky. Definitely not something I will stick to for my future craft.
