Complain train, all aboard!

Looks like we'll have to wait for 1.19(end of Sept) to find out what they plan on doing with MRD.
So we'll have from then till 1.20 to complain our hearts out to sway SE to make adjustments in our favor.


I really don't think MRD needs to whole slew of changes, just a couple tweaks to enhance their play style.

What would I like to see?

1. Broad Swing with 15 sec recast.

2. Warmonger with 60 sec recast.

That's it.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with at 1.19 and if we can actually change their minds come 1.20 based on our feedback.

15s broad swing sounds nice.

Other then that I think the class rapes monsters up the booty hole. Also, I would like to see more content that would allow us to play to our strengths a little bit more.

I think with the new claim system and linking exp bonus on the way, MRDs are going to have a blast.

Still think MRD needs more damage, which can be obtained by making Strength affect their weapons, and lancers, more than GLA and PUG. (Mainly its a problem with strength, more so than the class).

Idk, I feel PUG is the one who is at the bottom of the list when it comes to pure damage. They good with evasion stuff and can tank well, but as far as DD go, I think they are last. IMO, wouldn't feel right to put them down even further just for the sake of MRDs feeling better about themselves.

I know you guys would be waiting me to pop here sooner or later...but i won't complain this time. I think all i had to complain can be found in evry other topic of MRD forum already.

Instead, lemme just point a thing....i like Warmonger as it is now...its effect is extremely violent right now and cutting the recast by half would probably also bring nerf to it. So i'd stick with the current warmonger.

IMO the focus here could be discussing the less useful actions, like Barbaric Yawp, Enduring March and, in special, Iron Tempest. Also, assuming they will be removing the attribute convertion traits from guild mark vendor (they will be pointless to stay ingame with the removal of physical level since they were exactly to help players balance the classes without having to do reassign) so would be a nice thing tossing actions or traits that would be nice having there...two examples:

Monkey Grip: Increases the weapon delay in 50% but allows you to hold a 2-handed weapon with one hand.
Featherblade: Decreases the weapon attack in 10% and the delay in 50%.

I give a candy to however tell me what equipping these 2 traits would generate. ^^

I think the introduction of the Materia system is going to change a lot! it will allow us to bind stats like +5 STR to different weapons!!
i feel like with this new system along with the removal of the physical level players will actually have a bit more room to truly become unique.
i think these two things are extremely crucial before the introduction of sub classes such as DARK KNIGHT!!!! (Do i win a candy Lienn!!!???)

If there will be a HP Plus materia, I'll be putting that on every piece of equipment possible.

Unless they give OP materia like Counter, Double Cut, Final Attack, HP Absorb, etc.

Well, in my materia suggestion it went up to these said OP effects...but all with a separated mechanics...more FFVIIish than the one they seems to be planning. By what they said, materias seems to have similar mechanics to those bonus effects you could add to weapons and armor in FFXI with synergy system.

And nop, isn't soldier. I actually was talking about battle styles and not possible jobs ^^: But still, if you think on jobs as battle styles, then forerunner guess was much closer of what i meant than Kaiserose guess! ^^

Well I really don't mind that they take any good aspect of previous FF title and implement then in this game. That alone will make this game unique compare to others.

That won't fix the problem. Because it's not that Marauders can't get strength... Marauders with 174 strength will deal less damage than Lancers with 120 so how will gear with +5 strength change that?

Marauders with 174 strength still do slightly more damage than gladiators with a ONE HAND weapon at HALF DELAY.


To an above posters ~ You don't have to adjust PUGs because THEY HIT TWICE. WHO CARES IF THEY HIT FOR LESS THEY HAVE 100% DOUBLE ATTACK RATE.

I just came back to the game after quiting since i preordered the collectors edition, hardcored it in a piece of crap game that made me wanna cut myself but anyways i'm a 31 MRD...low lvl i know, but after watching videos on youtube of all our MRD weapon skills i notice they are all almost the same and quite boring....lancers getting a 6 fold attack - PGL with a 9 fold attack etc...What the hell happened with the MRD class? We have all single fold attacks that our weak and boring, so my question is, should i quit MRD now and reroll lancer or archer for DD? Am i wasting my time

No, just no. No need to start making stuff up and hoping someone who actually knows better doesn't come along. That being said, stats being as worthless as they are.. 174 STR compared to 120 STR is only 5 more Attack. Factor in randomness of everything and it would be really hard to find a difference.

Nothing happened. LNC always had that attack they just never had an animation that showed it. PGL has always had Simian Thrash. IMO, multi hit WS doesn't seem right for a MRD. Lancer now has that animation for Chaos Thrust because it was absolute crap before and needed to be changed.

MRD should have single fold attacks. Lets not forget that just about every MRD attacks can hit multiple enemies so its a pretty fair trade off. And you are doing something wrong if your are weak, I was able to do 1k+ before even hitting R40 on appropriate rank leve mobs. And as far as boring goes, every single melee class is full of boring, repetitive animation weapon skills, not just MRD. Each class pretty much has 2 that look fairly different and "cool". As MRDs you have Iron Tempest and Storm's Path. They don't look boring to me at all.

This is a problem a lot of MRDs have. They think they should be the best DD. Amazes me that a MRD can fill every single role in a party besides main healer, and they still find time to complain about wanting to be a better DD then everyone else. Archer does the amount of damage they do because 1) they can't do anything else, and 2) they shoot gil. An Archer can't main tank + do great damage on everything at the same time the way a GLA can. GLA can fill more roles then all the other melee, you shouldn't get to be the strongest as well.

Yes.
If you're playing MRD to be a DD then you will be disappointed.
If I were you I'd stop at 36 for Maim and Axemanship and head on over to LNC.

Actually, think like this:

"I liked the old battle system" = go play ARC
"I liked FFXI battle system" = go play LNC

I'd consider these two the most effective DoW right now. But i must say...as MRD i find both classes horrid >< I can't stand these glasschin clases...they can give monsters a good beating, but its not an one-way deal...you do will take some good beating during fights too. Yesterday i got raped by 4 r30 wolves as LNC 36 exactly by they being like this...attacked the wolves, got my TP, boosted and BAM! Doomspike II! Incredibly missed all 4 and had no time to get back on fight...Lienn might not be able to sit for a few days still after this fight.

LNC has the least HP of all melee and you will notice they won't take hits like MRD does.
IMO ARC, MRD and GLA are able to get through leves a little easier than LNC and PUG.(Braces for blacklash)
If you haven't already you should get THM to 20 for Stygian Spikes, Sac II and Siphon MP and make good use of LNC MP.

This does is a good suggestion for newbies. With the new MP costs THM 20 became important for soloing flow.

I don't see how a 2 handed weapon class was suppose to be built to be a Tank. I feel mislead and betrayed to have the class i wanted to play yanked out and swapped for an alternate tank class.

but you don't have to be an alternate tank if you don't want to. Can swap to DD gear and actions and kick it with the big boys if you want. You don't have to be the best DD around to be a good DD. I think its fair for now that MRD can do good damage, not the best, but can also take hits better then any other melee.

As they have stated before, last patch was just the foundation. things will be tweaked and changed as needed. Not to mention the classes that will break off of MRD. MRD may be the middle ground now and will be able to break off into a more defensive or a more offensive type class once they get all that rolling.

Too many tanks in this game.

Gladiator is tank.

Pugilist is tank.

Marauder is tank.

That leaves lancer and archer - 2 of the 5 Disciple of War jobs - as damage.

The scales are off. Fix it.

The more roles a class can cover the better. Its much easier a MRD or PGL just change their play style to a tanking approach if something happens to the main tank than just stopping and waiting the main tank being back on shape.

Keep in mind that changing play styles is much easier than changing classes. In the end ARC and LNC are actually the most limited classes of all 7, only being able to DD.

Just cause they can tank doesn't mean they have to tank though. They are also very capable DD. You realize if all you could do as a MRD was DD... you would then be playing for the same exact spot as an Archer. I don't know if you want to be compared with an an Archer. A good MRD in the a party is invaluable as they can switch roles on the fly.

The old and semi-current system within this game was/is designed around solo play. There is no such thing as tanking or DD in solo play; it's all about "Can I kill this mob before it kills me".

Be it defensive or offensive, this system was NOT designed around the paradigm of "traditional" FFXI play that required you to have a party with you to go anywhere and achieve anything unless you had capped your levels+sub jobbed+had epic gear, which was all knowledge you had to acquire through serious research on the web because there wasn't a damn thing listed in the manual on any of the quests that you had to endure to get to these unpublished and completely essential aspects of the game...

I honestly feel that most of the DoW/M changes are really on the right track toward subdividing solo vs. party play tactics, we just need a bit more refinement, which is on the horizon.

And don't, in any way think that a MRD, GLA or PGL cant bring some serious DD pain. You just have to be willing to step outside the box, also there's no such thing as too many tanks, so long as each can bring more hurt to bear as well.

All of this being said, I am still in full support of the current MRD stance of lowered timers, especially on the AOE basic attacks! We are totally gimped now!

I'm annoyed by the direction of the shadows, especially when roaming around a lightsource. Is it that hard to have shadows that actually match the lightsource?

Marauder definitely needs some tweaking and adjusting. It just seems really off since the removal of stamina. This is why I have not been a big fan of the way battle adjustments are being implemented. They implement partially and then its negatively effects something for awhile, I would rather just see just add it all in one patch, even if I had to wait several months longer.

pfft, lots of things are so much better and easier to use without having to deal with stamina.

I'm finally using foresight fracture bloodbath and a ton of other abilities I would have never used if the stamina bar was still there!

ya its nice. I always used those though, was just a pain waiting on stamina though or having to spend all of it on one thing. Invigorate and Second Wind are much better now not needing stamina. I use to rarely use Invig mid fight because it take so much stamina. Not to mention that if in an emergency you needed to grab hate real quick to save someone, you more then likely had to wait on stamina for provoke/taunt/disorient.

Well, i'm not against stanmina removal...i do understand what Tanaka had in mind (adding realism to battles, where you get fatigued after a while, getting a slower pace), but ist not like it was "that" bad for most actions...Foresight often had stanmina up by the time animation lock of previous action was gone, fracture never used stanmina and for emergencial "voke" i always used Raging strike + Hawk's eye, that were also stanmina free.

But indeed second wind, taunt, most of GLA defensive actions and the other ones that required half of stanmina bar to be used were kind of annoying...not due the stanmina but due the action queue. I got killed many many times because i meant to use sacrifice and mistakenly used second wind while having no stanmina, which ended with the character action locked for like 3~5 seconds until it charged enough stanmina.

if only Marauder could speed up the auto-attack, sometimes i feel like im yawning while watching my tp slowly increases while my hp drops fast. If only we had ability similar to Speed Surge on Lancer

You know...i'm starting to feel sorry of MRD again...as ARC i can kill monsters before the first swing from MRD AA triggers.

Its just not fair to MRD what they did. But hopefully they might tweak the basic attacks again at next battle balancing...

Right now i'm just waiting...i think all that had to be said about battle already was said and now its up to battle team to play since its their turn...and since i can't stay without an axe i'm just ranking up BTN lol!
