Gold seller spam game breakingly annoying

If you don't blacklist them they will repeatedly annoy you with messages and my blacklist is full from nothing but gold sellers and nobody on my blacklist says "Deleted"... I don't know who to delete that won't just spam me repeatedly now.

But in seriousness I've started moving towards the /busy more and more these days and pulled my friends into a LS for communicating with each other instead of /tell.

I used to be able to keep up by doing deleted cleanup but they're messaging faster these days.

What about an option to report a /tell message sent to you? Gives the GMs a name and their message to look into. Might expedite the account banning of these annoying selfish freaks.

Annoying, god yes.
Gamebreaking, nah, though I get the odd spam message every now and then, it's not 24/7 (gamebreaking)

I know how you feel :/ Behemoth seems to have it worse that some other servers. x.x I get anywhere from 6-10 /tells an hour on average, but overall, it's not that hard to just ignore after awhile. I've frankly given up trying to blacklist them all as an hour later they get deleted and they are now whispering with a fresh new character, it is an endless cycle. ._.

I hate how they friendlist you first so they can spam you then you have to do the trouble of opening friendlist and not be friends and blacklist them that is way more annoying :\

Yeah, I don't see why they think that being even more annoying (by friending you) is going to make you more likely to buy from them over their competition...

I'm on the same server as you OP but i get like 1 every hour or so, but I guess I'm just lucky :)

My blacklist was filled too, but I have started removing the very first names on the list. They were added like a year ago, so most likely those accounts aren't around. I remove them one by one and add the new gil sellers that spam me. So far it has worked, but I hope SE extends that blacklist to 500 at least. More ban hammers would be nice too.

It's been said before - SE does not delete banned characters, in case it was innocent or a stolen account. You can probably clear up all the names on your blacklist. I honestly don't even bother with blacklisting them in the first place, but I also have the sound effect from tells turned off so I barely notice them anyway...

The blacklist system needs major work, I do not want to just block communications from RMT spammers I want to report them and the energy it takes to fill out the reports and to continue to see the same person 6 months later spamming and botting becomes so tedious and feels like such an exercise in futility that I have stopped. The fundamental problem is the lack of thought or understanding from Squenix. The blacklist is supposed to be used to allow players to blacklist and avoid communication from other players they do not get along with for whatever reason so they can avoid each other in game, it is not meant as a tool to filter out RMT spam. However this is what Squenix wants you to use the Blacklist feature / functions for as they refuse to give you a quick and easy option to report RMT spam. This disconnect of purpose and functionality to workaround is kind of garbage. This is their problem to address not the players problem to filter out messages. The majority of the Spam I get in game I should never see as it should be caught by a filter server side and fail to send and also flagging the account for review. There are plenty of options they can take to combat this but still continue to do nothing as far as progress or QoL in reporting these problems in game. It really stinks of the old conspiracy theory of they (rmt) are paying a subscription fee, they dont want to report low subs so they include botters in numbers to report more subs then realistic, and are happy to take their money with mine at the end of the day because a dollar is a dollar is a dollar and that's all they care about.

Oh if only they'd let players make their own custom filters to block specific tells :/

This will solve your problem and you can also set yourself busy mode /busy if you want to cut off all invite and whispers. Use Linkshell for chatting with friends.

Because of the gil spammers, the first thing that I do when I log on is set myself to /busy . The downside to that is that I have to remove my busy status if I want to be invited into a group.

And god it's so annoying when the spammers send you an invite. You can't just simply decline it by clicking "no" on the notice that pops up. You actually have to go into your friend list to decline (if you don't want to use the aforementioned macro)

I set a tab for /tell only. I removed tells from my main chat. I also removed the sound from tells.

Occasionally, I will check my "tell tab" to see if I received any legit tells, but 99% of the time, it's just spam.

Solves the problem of having to go /busy

I used to report them but then the amount cot to be so much that was too much of a hassle... If you could macro a report message with like <pos> codes and such, that would be awesome... Add an option to have a code to echo the last tell or say or shout depending on the option selected would rock if it was meant for user reports only and not in game messaging.

A /anon (kinda like in XI) where you didn't show up in searches would be nice. Also to hide your character information.

But yeah until then, I'm mashing that /blist add <r> macro

Reporting needs to easier. The current method is too much of a hassle.

When the blacklist gets full, is there an easy way to remove blocks of names?

For a pay to play mmo not to have various ways for their customers to block unwanted tells and friend invites is unacceptable , just give us options on blocking tells and friend requests in level ranges from 1-10,11-20,21-30,31-40,41-50, and also ability to block tells / friend invites from people not in your FC or linkshells, just the above couple things would get rid of 95% of the spam. Blacklists are ment for us to have a place to add rude players from our server we don't want to play with. They aren't ment as an unrewarsing second job that's always filled with 200people named Bfeds Bsyuaklmn

Now that I think about it, I only ever receive or send tells to people who are on my friends list... a filter like that would literally solve all my problems and maybe many others.
